I can't believe this was published since 2013 and I now seeing it for the first time. This deserves greater air play on local programming!!! Excellent work and kudos to all involved.
This is perhaps the most GENUINE, the most REAL and well acted vignette that I have EVER had the pleasure to see coming out of Trinidad. The acting was superb, the characters were true to form and the story line was captured as if real life were unfolding in real time as it actually transpired and unfolded right before our very eyes. Well done and a hearty congratulations and thank you to ALL involved!
iankh as a Jamaican, i bring Trini culture to the world myself. My life experience in Europe, and the USA, has been that ive made life long friends with some of the most genuine people in life, and they are TRINI,
Excellent work. I'd like to see more films with Guyanese & Trinidadian Indians featured in it. Their culture needs to be put out their for all to see and appreciate.
Agree wholeheartedly. I am sooo tired of these overpaid, overrated, overcompensating movies with below average acting using huge explosive scenes to overshadow the crappiness of the movie. I feel like, c'mon inspire me for god sakes!
This displays the culture 100%. Tobago locals tell me they want to go and live in England and America because they think its nicer and easier out there. but that isn't the case its a lot tougher out here than T&T and not to mention the cold! Starting a business in the uk has so many rules and regulations and costs so much money to start up a small business
7 years ago and I now seeing this, where was this it's truly amazing, it captivated me had me guessing what would happen next. I could feel my emotions at my throat ready to cry...... There is still a doubles man on a bike in California now he does park up by the Chinese supermarket and sell.
I am black American female living in Los Angeles California, This short film caught my attention and it is very good. Never a boring minute of watching it. It touched my heart and I actually teared up. Very good acting, 100 percent. good actors. I really enjoyed watching it. Much respect to Doubles With Slight Pepper. 100 percent Trinidad. I loved the Film 💗💗💗💗
a story to make me realize that don`t matter what happens we always remain family ,a story to make me want to forgive my parents after all we are not perfect ,what a beautiful short film
I am amazed and astounded by how tremendously well done this short is. I am a huge fan of film, and everything from the scripting to the acting felt so natural and realistic (which is really hard to do when "talkin trini"). The story was engaging and the pacing was perfect. I never felt once to take it off or pause and watch it later. It was a spectacular effort and I have it plastered all over my social media channels. And my friends are saying the same. Very, very well done, I hope to see more of this (or others like it on the same level) in the future. Best short ever period!
Thanks a lot for such high praise! And really, thanks for sharing with your friends and spreading the word. We are busy trying to make it into a feature film, so any support helps. Even liking the video, or liking us on facebook (in the video description) really helps!! Thanks again!
I really enjoyed watching this, it was a good snapshot of a Trinidad family. Watching this 10 years too late and it made me realize I haven't seen a man selling doubles on a bike in a LONG time.
This short film is truly a testament to the endless talent and how easily we could take our culture and produce an amazing and captivating story. I'm not in anyway involved in film in Trinidad but this certainly inspires views to become apart of it. I could only imagine the hard work that went into this project. From the first scene this short film had me wanting more. I'm only 15 and I own a nikon D3200 and seeing this just inspires me to do something... go to a filmography class or something to gain knowledge about this art form. But as i said before congrats on this short film... hope there's more where that came from!!
If there anything close to what you have done i'll be very pleased... But we'll see in the future what happens cause i am in form 4 this term, and sports take up most of my time so i have to really manage my time if i wanna do anything of substantial value to anyone. But probably i could put together a small family film;if i could call it that. I do have a photography page on fb if yu wanna see.. facebook.com/Keagansimmonsphotography?ref=br_rs ... Will be grateful if yu get time to look at it. :)
What a lovely film. It demonstrates the strength of family connectedness and goes deep inside the sensibilities of this young man's unhappy mind. His deep duty to his mother and protective instinct towards her; demonstrated in pushing his father away from touching his mother. The actors ,writer , producer/ director of this film should be highly commended .
My parents emigrated to the US and did send for us. i am thankful for the opportunities they gave us - i am doing and have done things i am sure i would not have been able to do if i finished school in T&T and began a family & worklife there. But who knows? i see the negative impact it has had on my family. Oh yeah, great film. It is truly universal and captures the pain of oppressed peoples.
wawwww!! This is delicious. I watched this with so much delight, pride and thankfulness. Thank you, thank you so much Iankh. The story, the acting and the editing is a brilliant piece of art. For me this is the definition of entertaining and engaging, and extremely relatable. It felt smooth, natural and not forced. I thoroughly enjoyed this because it didn't feel like a story of bacchanal for the sake of ratings, like majority of the shows today. I truly desire, hope and pray that we have more of these from our country and cultures. I watched it several times and forwarded it to others. More more more please. YES.
I saw this a few years ago and appreciated the quality of story and simple production and the trini class this family is depicted. Today watching it again, of course I have the urge to go and buy some doubles with slight pepper buy also love it again.
I really, really loved this. Brought a tear to my eye. Beautifully shot and directed. I'm happy to see Trini producing quality and artistic work. Looking forward to more - Trini in NY.
Cannot believe TH-cam has now recommended this to me! This was an amazing short film. Beautifully written, acted, and organized. As a Trinidadian, I am SO proud. I would have been 14 when this came out, but I know I would have still loved it. Absolutely beautiful!
Spike Lee involvement in our local culture is a genuine collaboration and judging from this film although being short it was well done , I wish for more films of this nature to be embraced nationally instead of foreign shows that portray no reality to tnt's life and culture
So glad I stumbled upon this film. Took me right back to ordering doubles from Sauce in Curepe after school over a decade ago. Fabulous job of incorporating our culture and inducing nostalgia. The cinematography, background music, and dialogue--all excellent. I'm ready for you to make another! I'll definitely be passing this along.
thanks a lot! We'll be shooting the feature film later this year! If you go to the website listed in the description, or follow us on Facebook you'll be kept in the loop!

I remember a Doubles Man who rode his bike from Port of Spain all the way to Chaguaramas every day, what an Effort! Very beleivable Story of a Trini Doubles Man, well done! I could have me a Double righz now, but I am in Germany, no Doubles here:-(
Beautiful short film. For those who love doubles and Trinidad this is bittersweet...the joy of opening a hot, fresh doubles at 3 am at Curepe Junction, surrounded by the squalor of urban discontent all set in the raging aftermath of post-colonial disenfranchisement...I love the brutal truth none can deny....we are all descended from stupid coolies, promised a better life, but trapped and destined to live under the bondage of our ancestors mistakes...
Yes, that is the father from Harold Kumar. Errol Sitahal is probably one of the greatest actors of our time - SERIOUSLY! He just doesn't get the opportunity to show it all the time!!
This is an example of Trinidad's great talent, so many caribbean people can relate to this short story ranging from cleaners to clerks whom left the region for a better life in Western countries and still did not gain economic growth. But yet when the elite Westerners migrate to our region, they live in the best areas, and some even get government support to established their business(es) that still marginalized our people when they work for the developers.
I can't believe this was published since 2013 and I now seeing it for the first time. This deserves greater air play on local programming!!! Excellent work and kudos to all involved.
