Wouldn’t it be the moral thing to right the past so everyone can move forward into a level playing field. There are victims complexes, however there are also millions of families born into generational poverty on the basis of discrimination. The conversation shouldn’t just end at a simple stop being a victim argument. I feel this is the only country there’s a stigma to talking about the past. Also Germany has given reparations to its Jewish community and acknowledges its past. As if they could forget because in schools/our curriculum this is something that we always teach the next generations. However once talks about slavery-Jim crow arise this same energy is shifted for some reason. @@mikefun7482I don’t necessarily care about reparations, however don’t you think it’s the right thing to do, you discrete against groups of people for 400+ years, only the most recent generations have had access to the same resources. Wouldn’t it be the moral thing to right the past so everyone can move forward into a level playing field. There are victims complexes, however there are also millions of families born into generational poverty on the basis of discrimination. The conversation shouldn’t just end at a simple stop being a victim argument. I feel this is the only country there’s a stigma to talking about the past.
Also Germany has given reparations to its Jewish community and acknowledges its past. As if they could forget because in schools/our curriculum this is something that we always teach the next generations. However once talks about slavery-Jim crow arise this same energy is shifted for some reason.
All this is to say, keeping a dialogue open is the least we can do in attempts to solve this generational cycle, whether that be generational trauma or victim complex, to make this country not constantly feel like we’re on the precipice of a civil war.
