I really like the micarta handled linerlock variant. The proportions of the yorki and the improved ergonomics just make a lot of sense. Some of Nick's negative points are definitely smoothed out and I think it's more compelling.

If you need a small knife this might be yorkie to happiness. Huh?

  • @slidetek
    @slidetek 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Ray uses a unique design language, which for some translates to boring. First, happy dance the pinwheel pivot is gone. Second, like the EZC or Keen, it's like the EZC or Keen. You get simple, smooth lines, a _full flat_ grind in a good size EDC, as well as [yawn]...? I like his work, this is really for people who carry and use their knives instead of posing on $50 hankies with flashlights and skull lighters. I'm not sure if middle of the road is a goal, but if it is, they nailed it and it will find an audience.

Paulo Correia In Canada we do tend to remember 40 degree days, but then again we operate in Celsius. Of course, as things progress those days will become equally unmemorable here too.

I’m pleased with my Gemini. Especially since I got Kizer to sell and send me the upgraded clip all the way from China. I enjoyed conversing with the rep via email. I’d write in the day and she’d reply at night (day there). Funny they make all these knives in China but when I asked her if they could carry she said no. Anyways I don’t need a mini Gemini/ Yorkie

I agree with your comment of the Laconico design. I have a Keen and love it but the designs are very similar. Maybe we need to lock up Laconico and Isham in a room and see what they come up with! Great review as always.

@MJC 777 Not too sure about that? Minimalist and Mall Ninja in the same room with sharp objects trying to find a middle ground and things could turn pretty ugly lol. On the other hand you never know...... Definitely great review as always.

Since Massdrop EU sadly doesn't carry knives and paying customs fees and VAT is terribly expensive, the Yorkie is a great alternative to the Keen

Some internal milling to reduce the weight on the backside and an adjustment to the flipper would be nice. Maybe if there a version 2.0 released I may look at it, but right now there just many more desirable choices ahead of it. At least it nice and compact though and made with good materials.

If you're looking for a Laconico that is different from the standard Laconico, take a look at the Kizer Lancer 2. It's a Laconico/Vagnino design and it definitely has some obvious Laconico styling cues, but it's also very different from what he usually does. Couple of years old at this point but it really flew under the radar and never got much attention. Beautiful little knife (despite a recurve). But I generally love Laconico's work anyway.

I like Laconico knives. The "keep it simple stupid" mantra suits me and my tastes. Is there recurve towards the tip of the blade? Hope they come out with one with a slightly longer blade at around 3.25

Cool little knife, but I wish they had done more of design like you showed on the other knife, instead of a hole. I'm just not getting that. Personally I am finding that I prefer thumb studs over flippers. I guess you could get the after market studs, but idk...
Also, no lanyard hole, which isn't something I like. Should have moved that hole to the fat bottom it has on it, lol.

haha I don't have to worry about knife laws over in Texas... because there basically are none. Minors can carry any knife under 5 1/4, and over 18 can carry literally any knife.

In Alabama you can’t Conceal carry a Bowie
I don’t know how you would be able to conceal a Bowie
      But that’s illegal
Any thing double sided is fine
So no Katanas just Broadswords 😝

joel rrr what’s the reasoning behind not being able to carry a Bowie in general. Bowie is a blade type, so does that mean I can’t carry a Slysz Bowie, a buck 112, or my minimalist? Although I can carry a full length sword? Seriously

I'm thinking you might of because one of them is the EZE exactly what you kept calling the Yorkie.😉 Anyways I didn't care much for the looks of the EZE but the Angry Baby Bare looked cool as hell.😈 It's the next one on my list.......at least for now it is. These knives just keep on coming and I can't afford half the ones I want let alone them all . Lol.😂 Thanks for another great video Nick. ✌
