    I came to this channel originally for knife content, but I actually enjoy whatever videos you make. Puppy updates. Chickens. Compost. Whatever. Don't feel bad about evolving beyond knife reviews! Just do what you do and I'm pretty sure people will watch (I'm kinda sad that Advanced Knife Bro stopped doing beer reviews - some channels are more about the presenter than the content).

    I have several knife channels, I've been watching. And I've been watching your Channel when I want to know about a steel before buying a knife. You have been extremely helpful! Now on to the metallic handles. I try not to give negative comments on knife channels. But they're into titanium and metallic handles. I can sum it up and saying cold and dead! No excitement! Really I have all these knives , and the only ones I carry have a wood handle or a bone handle. Plastic's okay, but still there's never been any excitement! My favorite plastic handled knife is the Ontario rat one which I always go back to I don't have it in D2 but I can sharpen a tin can. I've been sharpening the same 20° since the late 60s when I was 10 years old and got my first stone! No other angles sad huh! And on to the next subject, it's all about the chase once the chase is over whether it be cattle dogs guns knives cars . Once you have them you just stare at it! I once tried to find a Catahoula blue heeler cross cuz I had such a beautiful one when I was young. Cowboy was a badass cow dog! A natural Irreplaceable! But the chase was fun. Now I live around people. No cows no chickens no guineas no feeding except for bird squirrels and deer. You got to have something to create or chase. Thank you for letting me ramble young man . And I will still watch your programs. Even though my kids are probably 10 years older than you. You do exceptional work sir! When life gets boring you got to mix it up, go for it! Try something new! Well anyway Sorry I wrote a book , this is and old retired Arkansas hillbilly rambling!

    I can’t collect anything besides video games for more than a few years, so I get it. I went from playing cards to knives to action figures, and now I’m on to glass dab rigs and assorted water pipes. I still pick up the occasional shiny thing from past hobbies though. Just took delivery of the Figma deluxe Sam Porter! Knives I’m interested in have kind of priced themselves out of my interest range over the last couple years.

    I sensed I needed a "titanium frame lock flipper in S35V" when I reentered the knife hobby during the early pandemic.
    I wound up with a WE Kitefin (the one with bronze ano and neat show side milling). One and done. I'll keep it, its to my eyes the best of Ti framelock flippers in S35V, but I don't need another.
    Titanium's a neat material, but its neither intrinsically beautiful nor really necessary. Frame locks are fine, almost as strong as the back locks we've had for 200+ years, but they do interfere with flipper action.. Flippers are cool for about a week, and then one realizes one's losing handle and the ability to use the whole blade length cutting against surfaces.

    Hey man I can tell by the beginning of your video that you're a little down on the whole knife Channel thing. I wouldn't let the criticism on the last video of the flashlight that you made dictate your future potential video topics. I enjoy the way that you edit videos. I would be interested in even mundane things you do like for example gardening or chicken related stuff I could watch that. I have anodized almost all of my Ti framelock flippers, including my Yorkie and Gemini. They are great canvasses for home mods. I've re-done the Gemini three times. In its latest iteration, the show scale is lightning (heat) anodized and the back is electro-anodized a deep purple. Clip and backspacer are bronze.

    EDIT: After reading some comments I'm seeing alot of people who have lost enthusiasm about knives right now. Honestly this is a topic I've put some thought into before. Knives are tools of capability, intent, with storied history of character and adventure. If you remove that aspect and just turn the hobby into a commodity or just a tool shit gets boring as fuck lol. Like who gets excited about hammers past getting a good hammer. This is why I'm very interested in companies like rough rider, finch, boker, etc. They make a point in having many of their designs have history or personality. Kizer and We have put out a few nice "character" pieces but they don't get the attention they deserve IMO. Spyderco had a few ethnic knives that were really cool, those are not my preferred knife blade/shape/aesthetic but they are my style! Beyond that, you have to find your connections to themes and ideas on your own. Be it of a notable figure like Jim Bowie, a video game or movie, or ideally your own adventures.
    The things that get me excited about knives now a days are: 1. historic and theme styling, 2. adventures!, 3. my "apex" knife as in the main stays of what will be the rest of my life type of edc
    1. I like feeling like a cowboy or early 1900s french guy, 1800s italian guy, 1920s rail road worker, etc. by connecting to those times and situations with carry! So I'll set up my gear to be what they would have carried at that time. Those would be like nice laguioles, other slippies and fixed blades, etc. Right now Im into the game The Last Of Us 1 and 2, so like I got a kukri-esque machete and am looking for a nice switchblade as featured in the game
    2. Doing adventures with my gear!
    3. I'm waiting for the perfect knives to come out. What I really want is a sebenza or a wingman MDD-K in Magnacut. I think either of those will be my "apex" folder that I'll edit my secondary knife and other gear around.

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the same way about knives with historical design cues. Smooth bone and nickel silver Rough Ryders have a cool 1920’s Art Deco feel to them (although it’s hard to beat alox Victorinox knives, with their awesome scissors, drivers, etc).

    I bought a "Yorkie" reasoning my purchase on 2 very sound points, it was on sale and I am from Yorkshire and thought that having a knife with a handle "Yorkie" would make me a cool and popular chap, unfortunately for a virtual multitude of reasons non of the previous occurred, mainly cause its a boring knife! Oddly enough I have been carrying my Kizer Gemini that I bought years back and never used, now its broken in, its a nice user. Laconica designs are easy to spot, he's not wildly adventurous, lay the two knives side by side, Yorkie looks like a gemini baby.... Cheers
