    Another tip is that for controlling cards to a desired position, learn the Ireland shuffle and either perform it the classic way, or Dani Daortiz’s way. It makes the entire effect feel more impossible

      Perhaps the greatest closeup magic TEACHER ever (great performer too. Was on Johnny Carson multiple times) said the following:
      “While I enjoy seeing the use of theatrical techniques and monkey moves from time to time, there’s a lot to be said about simple, well engineered, and well executed closeup card magic.”
      - Michael Ammar
      Also, this is a very old trick. 99.999% of the tricks on this channel are other people’s work and they’re never credited. At least cite the source, ESP if you’re a “content creator.”
      Spidey by contrast ALWAYS credits the inventor. That’s one reason his channel has so much more activity.

    Great trick dude, thank you! I have a queation: why do we count 7 cards which are on the top? Why 7 and not 8 or 9?

    • @AMillionCardTricks
      @AMillionCardTricks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly the number of cards on top of the stack doesn’t matter haha, I just chose seven cards because it’s easier for me to remember that all of the stack cards will be even numbers positions starting from the 8th card down. So feel free to use as many cards as you want, as long as you know where the stack is.

  • @shauncorley4305
    @shauncorley4305 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My question is, what if they deal the cards, land on a card that isn't an 8 or 9 and they say they want to stop. No adding or removing so you are stuck on let's say a 2 for example. What then? Maybe I missed a detail in the tutorial but I feel like that situation could blow up the trick. Love the content by the way!

    • @AMillionCardTricks
      @AMillionCardTricks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The card they “stop at” is ambiguous until the moment comes to turn the card over. No matter where they stop you will turn over the card that is the 8/9.
      So if they stop and the top card in their hands is a force card, tell them to turn over that card. If they stop and the card on the table is a force card, then you tell them to turn over the card on the table. Always show the cards before and after to make it seem like a random free choice!

    • @AMillionCardTricks

      Most of them I come up with. This one is not my creation but my version of an old trick published by magician Jean Hugard, I left credit in the description.

    How are you supposed to know the 8th card is an 8 or nine because what if they don’t pick it to where it’s the 8th card

  • @zapdunga12
    @zapdunga12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One thing you didn't explain. What if they keep dealing BEYOND the stack? There are wise guys that may want to stop near the bottom of their cut or even the last card. Then the trick is ruined unless you tell them not to stop too far down.

  • @dextermiguel21
    @dextermiguel21 ปีที่แล้ว

    what if they suddenly decided to stop dealing on the first 7 cards. I know there are spectators out there who are like that.

    • @AMillionCardTricks
      @AMillionCardTricks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I explained this in the video. You don’t tell them to stop dealing until they go past the first seven cards. So that will never happen.

    Pro tips/critiques from a performer of 20+ years:
    To quote the great Michael Ammar - IMO the best TEACHER of closeup magic ever:
    “While I enjoy seeing the use of theatrical techniques and monkey moves from time to time, there’s a lot to be said about simple, well engineered, and well executed closeup card magic.”
    In other words, this is a powerful trick. But it would be much, much better if you’d show a live performance so ppl can see your spectator handling skills and genuine reactions. Bc MAGIC isn’t an effect or move. It’s a feeling of wonder you leave with your audience.
    Also, why not share with your audience where this effect came from and who invented it? By doing that with EVERY tutorial (bc I’ve seen it on none, and also haven’t ever seen one original routine), you keep the masters alive and show proper reverence and respect for the giants this click a channel, learn a trick generation is losing touch with.
    Magic is far more than just moves, procedures, and in the end - effects. Actual MAGIC is leaving an audience with a memory & feeling of wonder that they’ll never forget. Bc otherwise, it’s just another tutorial you got from a book (in this case), DVD, or instant download.
    But this is a beautifully engineered piece of closeup magic…but if it’s performed without energetic patter and instead done with a monotone voice, not making eye contact with your spectators, then you’re missing the actual magic.
    I’m only saying this bc you do have skill and dedication to the art. Adding those elements will elevate this channel, you as a magician and teacher, and ultimately will create better magicians who watch this channel.
    Keep up the good work! Just remember that we wouldn’t have half of what we do without MAYBE 50 geniuses of the last 150-200 years like Vernon, Jennings, Marlo, Tamariz, Cardini, Slydini, Hofzinser, Tommy Wonder, Paul Harris, Ascanio, Henry Christ, JC Wagner, Aldo Columbini, Brother John Hamman, Daryl Martinez, Dr. Jacob Daley, Darwin Ortiz, Michael Ammar, and too many others to list.
    The same goes for lists of books. I’m not knocking you kid, I’m trying to give constructive criticism bc you have so much potential. Godspeed and God bless 🙏
