Proof that in life, even the biggest setbacks are opportunities in disguise. Going through this process gave Nadine the experience that helped her get into the much more successful band, even though she felt she’d completely lost out that day.
I feel like it might’ve helped. If she remembered the year she had given, then it would be a bit more obvious that it’s her actual birthday. Since she forgot the year she gave, it made it seem like the year she gave couldn’t have been her real birthday, since she should remember that even if she lied.
It's actually quite sweet how much all the others seem to genuinely want here there. Parents possibly too nauve to realise what the potential fame could do to someone so young. I bet they started checking ages Day 1 minute 1 after this

Awww this was massive. She was and still is a brilliant singing talent. It had everything to do with her being classed as a child and not as an adult. If they had kept her on this would have caused MASSIVE implications for the show. But, it was a stepping stone, no matter how hard or humiliating, for the beautiful Nadine. ❤️
I recorded all episodes of Irish Popstars and have very carefully stored the video files so there is no chance of them being lost. I’m a huge Nadine fan as she really is so lovely and kind to all she meets.

This was tv gold literally up there with one of the most iconic tv moments of all time but it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened for her in the end
How did she even get on the show? I had to have ID when I filled out my paperwork for my first job at 16. I can't believe they'd just let people into their singing competition without giving them the most basic vetting.
I believe when she audition, they never clarified that. She had to be 18 to dissipate, so it was the companies fault. For not make it clear for the contestant, before they can dissipate. So this was not Nadine fault.

@@aliceandfriendsvideos this is old. It was common not to bring ID to age specific jobs and just have the employer believe you. I went through something similar. Used fake ID when I was 17 to work in a nightclub, I got caught out after a couple of weeks when I was asked for my NI number.
It’s so sweet how the band members and everyone else wanted her there so bad, you can tell how close they’d all gotten and how much they enjoyed each other. Them trying to call their lawyer and etc to try to work out to keep her with them was very kind and sweet 😢❤

I’m surprised that Nadine went as far into the band. Even though she slipped up in her interview on national TV by giving, her a real date of birth as she realise. She just screws herself, when she rattled herself. But I think she was relief then anything, If she didn’t I want to how much trouble. She would get in the long run, if she will continue with the situation that she was underage.
I mean whenever the band travelled abroad someone would have clocked her age from her passport and reported her or even for identification purposes for anything really. Im just surprised she got as far as she did without getting caught. How the bands management didn't ask for any form of ID up until this point is beyond me. Students in the UK are usually 18 when finishing their last year of senior school and in Ireland they finish senior school at 18 or 19 (spending 6 years there altogether) Participants on this show had to be at least 18 years old and Nadine was only 16 at the time

I almost couldn’t watch the whole clip as you start to see how her lies affected the whole group. Started to feel like the tears were a tool to create sympathy for her. I feel more concern for the band and others involved in the production, and all the work they had put into this already.
Nadine has always been a very talented singer; no harm was done by a white lie and to me this demonstrates her sheer guts and determination to compete and do what she always wanted.
At 16 years old, she isn't going to going to have the courage to face what she's done, especially in this crazy situation. Her parents should have discouraged her from doing this at all. Surely down the road when this aired, someone who knows her would've told the truth. Her dealing with it alone like that was probably a massive growing up moment for her, hopefully. My son is 16 now and I cannot even imagine him doing this, and me just letting him go off to do it.

A credit to her, if anyone is to blame, it’s the producers. Maybe I’ll upload a bit more of the programme when she and her parents were interviewed. Nadine will never live this down. I’ve met her quite a few times and have had selfies with her, she’s really kind with a lovely character.

She had amazing courage to follow her dreams, taking any risk to achieve them. I just remember being 16 and thinking getting caught lying, even over something small, seemed like the worst possible thing. No doubt she was scared in her situation. I wasn't taking any kind of swipe at Nadine at all, I was actually trying to defend her - at her age she wouldn't have known how to appropriately handle a situation like that, it would have probably scared her.

Has Nadine ever confirmed whether her mom was actually on the phone? If not, this was good acting.
It wasn't necessary to make a huge fuss out of it and to film it. Just ask for an ID document and remind her the rules.

@@Bette_Fontenot at 16, Nadine showed remarkable determination and courage; I don’t think I’d have had the confidence to enter such a competition and do what she did. A credit to her, if anyone is to blame, it’s the producers. Maybe I’ll upload a bit more of the programme when she and her parents were interviewed. Nadine will never live this down. I’ve met her quite a few times and have had selfies with her, she’s really kind with a lovely character.
@@jpptubie, I agree. I was speaking to having courage to admit to what she's done - especially when adults are confronting her like that. She had amazing courage to follow her dreams, taking any risk to achieve them. I just remember being 16 and thinking getting caught lying, even over something small, seemed like the worst possible thing. No doubt she was scared in her situation. I wasn't taking any kind of swipe at Nadine at all, I was actually trying to defend her - at her age she wouldn't have known how to appropriately handle a situation like that, it would have probably scared her.
A lot of people lie about aged when they’re young, it’s not like she hurt anybody or anything.

@RoLee705 her birthday is 15th June 1985 so in the UK we say dates DD/MM rather than MM/DD so she keeps saying 15th [day] of the 06th [month] is her birthday. But she lied about the year she was born because she was only 16 and she needed to be 18 to be in the competition
