Univ. Presidents who take a strong interest in athletics are so important to helping sports be successful. D. Shalala is a notable exception, however. She made sports decisions she had no business making, like hiring R Shannon. P Dee, the AD, did not make that decision. Presidents hire AD's and need to be active with sports to make the correct decisions. They need to know the right people to help them make these decisions. Schools with successful sports Programs almost always have Presidents who are involved in athletics at their school.
