I absolutely love your videos...I grew up in Glasgow (Scotland) and in the 70s 80s California seemed very exotic to me and i was determined to make it there, but alas, life happens, I am going there eventually nxt year, at the age of 52, decades later than anticipated lol 😂 but until then I can live the past decades vicariously through your posts....thk you ❤

I remember seeing Paul King perform live (Love and Pride, Won't you hand now, etc.) at the Showcase Theater in the summer of 85 at what I believe was one of the all night end of summer party events when the park remained open until 5AM. Magic Mountain did the all night events at the beginning of summer when school was out and at the end of summer before schools started. Those were the days when I could stay up all night, get two hours of sleep, and then go to work and not miss a beat. Great Times! Thanks for recapturing all of them Kurt!

High school 1992. A bunch of us thought it'd be a good idea to take a certain mind altering substance at Magic Mountain.
We got on one ride which was the Log Jammer. Then the stuff kicked in. We ended up being too freaked out to ride anything else and stood around for hours, wet and cold. We laugh about it now but that was the worst idea. A crowded theme park isn't very conducive for such an undertaking Lol

I saw Information Society here. It was a fantastic show. They can’t keep a building just because of history. Those kinds of bands don’t play amusement parks anymore, preferring places like Indian casinos or bigger venues like The Greek or Hollywood Bowl in music festival type events. So I can see why Magic Mountain would want to remove an underutilized building. And they aren’t the only park making this decision either. It’s sad, but it’s logical. Amusement parks don’t stay the same forever. I’m more upset they took out the log ride.

If all the TH-camrs that have memories of the park or history, I noticed they leave out a lot of key details that used to be at the park. For instance, there used to be an aquarium at the park right around where Dive Devil is now. They had a little dolphin and sea Lion education show and yes , they had acrobatic divers too. Speaking of acrobats. There used to a lake where Hurricane Harbor is now where you could see water ski shows and the firework shows were there too. And they had the Chinese acrobatic team that was a regular attraction for a while. They were kind of like Circe de Solei before there was a Circe de Solei. Also there was a small zoo and petting zoo there which is now part of Bugs Bunny World. I believe it was you would point out the animal paintings on the fence where the zoo used to be. Also Colossus used to run one train backwards way before there was a Fright Fest. Or a Psyclone. It was when it still had the PTC trains. When they switched to the Morgan trains they couldn’t use those trains to run backwards. Something about their design and configuration made it impossible. They borrowed Psyclone’s trains because those trains had a similar configuration to the old PTC trains and they could run backwards. Twisted Colossus cannot run backwards now because thee RMC trains are not configured properly to make that possible. Also the RMC tracks are customized so not just any train can be used. And before it was Fright Fest, the Halloween event was called Haunted Mountain. I could go on and on. I have a deep connection to this park which means I am old AF.

I'm definitely in the "ride enthusiast" category, but the park doesn't have to be all rides. If they have other types of attractions like theaters, it's easier to get a group to go with you to the park because some people will like different things. I'm disappointed that some of the rides in that commercial no longer exist, as they, too, were a piece of '80s history.

Hey brother, I love your content. I'm a freelance photographer/videographer/drone photographer living near where the McFlys went to school. I work mainly real estate and right in the middle of the lockdowns I had a job right next to the Gambler House in Pasadena area. There was nobody out, I had my gear and ended up stopping and doing a full on real estate type shoot of the front of the house. On my channel I try to document photos I take and share the experience, technical stuff and vlog the process of capturing the image. If you'd ever like to collaborate on anything where you might need a drone or just think it would be a great spot to document with high quality photos or video, count me in. Its funny, I've worked with a few celebrities and I have taken pictures of a few filming locations, like Nakatomi Plaza in Century City ;) and I find myself getting far more excited to see filming locations in person.. Although it could be because I have not met any A listers but I have been to mostly A lister filming locations.

Essentially the theme I am going with moving forward is essentially a behind the scenes VLOG on my hunt for photos, and then sharing some of the technical data with my viewers and the occasional tutorial. I have been weak on content as of late because I am a fairly new Dad and just coming out of terrible twos and once again finding time to pursue this theme. I am every easy going, have no expectations, happy to share all footage, and I do not take myself seriously at all. Just hoping to add some value and let the rest work itself out. Either way I think it would be a good time.
