We've reached the point where legitimate film criticism is being construed as sexism or racism. But it's not like film criticism wasn't already dead, anyway.

If they want to push and agenda, why don’t they write their own story rather than hijacking a well established and loved franchise!

Feminists should be angrier than anyone about this movie. It makes women look really bad. It basically presents women as trashy imitators of far superior male talents. It's not our fault for perceiving it that way. It's the movie's fault for presenting it that way. Feminists should be pissed.

Political people in Hollywood having agendas, trying force-feed a message to people via propaganda films, should probably re-think their options.
Hey propaganda people just stop using iconic franchises as sugar coat. This obvious doesn't work.
You ruin the franchise and the message is lost in all that mess. Try and build your own story that supports your agenda and propaganda.
But maybe you should re-think that too. We are not living in 1900's, lacking information.
Maybe try and find a completely new way that - maybe - works?

The movie was just hard to watch. Had weird pacing. Terrible humor. It felt like a highschoolers attempt at spoofing the franchise.

Yup, I tried to watch it, had to put it off after a short while. It had no story lines, characters where just screaming at each other and nothing build up to anything.
In short, it is a Plotless movie.

Rusty Shackleford did experience the same pain I did trying to watch it? Bad jokes, stupid storyline, terrible CGI and even the acting seemed stiff,

It's not even a bad movie. A bad movie could become a cult classic when it makes the transition to kitsch. It's worse, it's a "meh" movie. It's bland and without even the quality to become a meme.
Plan 9 is a bad movie. A really bad one. For some, the worst movie of all times. Personally, I could cite Killer Tomatoes as something that can easily take the throne from Plan 9. And I'm not even going to talk about the hundreds of 60s horror movies that are utter trash. But these movies are SO bad that they are actually something you want to watch to make fun of them.
GB2016 doesn't even qualify for that. The movie is bland, uninspired, predictable and just all around unfunny.

I'll admit straight off the bat that I never saw this movie. I never had any interest in it. Being brutally honest I just couldn't get past the outright force feeding of political correctness with the cast. I just wasn't on board with the fact that the makers were being deliberately politically correct, and if there's one thing I hate it's choking on what someone believes we should think. I'm not at all against female characters.
But I put forward this point which I feel sums it up: Ripley, Sarah Connor, Leia, Padme, Captain Janeway, Xena, Buffy, little known action actress Cynthia Rothrock.. all female characters and people that had none of the politically correct Bullshit that we get today. They were stand alone characters and it didn't matter that they were female. Ripley and Sarah Connor especially are held up against any male action movie character. And it was all done naturally. In that context alone Ghostbusters 2016 is actually borderline insulting.

The proton pack first use scene was terrible. In the original, it took like 23 seconds in the elevator to explain it. In this movie it toook almost 10 minutes nd a really lame scene,

Honestly, hearing about Feig's background as a child it makes sense that he would find reasoning to man bash as he was picked on when he was a kid for being too feminine. It makes perfect sense. Feig is getting back at the symbol which is masculinity. And the fans of Ghostbusters paid the price.

If anything, the controversy helped its ratings, as many people probably went in with such low expectations that after they actually saw it, they thought it was better than it actually was

    1. A well know and beloved franchise - Check

    3. Capitalize on the me too movement - Check
    4. Knowing this movie will attracted a large global audience, so no need for a quality script - Check
Have i seen it ? No... all I needed to do was watch the trailer. Good and/or comedic Actors can't replace shitty writing. Just look at Holmes/Watson with Will Farrell and John C Reliey -that's another dumpster-fire.

If only Paul Feig had just made more "Freaks and Geeks". That was actually good, and I was as disappointed as he was that the show only got 1 season. You know, initially, I tried to be on his side with things. I even read a few bits of his book wherein he talks about his life. The girl he loved as a young boy. His nick-name transitioning from "Feig Newton" to "Paul Fag." I was actually sympathetic towards him, *and* to most of his characters on "Freaks and Geeks". Just like "Square Pegs", I thought it ended too soon.
But then...look what he had to go and do. Just as CBS and Kurtzman have ruined Star Trek, and KK, RJ and JJA have ruined star wars, Paul Feig has similarly done a hatchet job on Ghostbusters. He managed to take my support and sympathy for him and turn it to contempt. Should I sarcastically say "good job" to him, or just sigh, shrug my shoulders, and move on?

Is it propaganda though? I haven't seen it, so I don't know. However, every discussion of it makes me think it's less about sending a message and more about capitalizing on a trend. Like in the 90s I don't think anyone in Hollywood was trying to send the message that ninjas are members of society equal to everyone else, but there were a heck of a lot of ninja movies. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the characters in Ghostbusters 2016 aren't marginalized because they're women or Black or lesbians. They're marginalized because they belive in ghosts, the same situation the original Ghostbusters found themselves in (twice!) If this were propaganda I'd expect to hear more about Dr. Manley McOldboy denying one of the characters tenure because "No woman could ever be a great physicist!" or Dick Scrotumcrotch denying them a business loan because "Women should be in the business of making babies!" It's my understanding the villains here are some basement-dwelling incel and a corrupt, inept government.

I have just watched the film last night..I know..I'm late to the party..but the film itself was garbage.
The character I really enjoyed was holtzman.
She was the only one I found any humor in & could carry this dumpster fire.
Holy hell though..no fucking sequel..good riddance.
The worst part..the man bashing..it needs to stop.
Hollywood needs to pull its head from it's own ass if it intends to remain relevant..no one buys the sjw garbage..no one!

You can't compare ghostbusters with star wars. WTF? Star wars was amazing movie with a great scrip. Ghostbusters was the worst movie that I have ever seen and a big insult. Not because of the females is because it was very bad!, such talented actors but with a shity scrips, the actors were trying so hard to be funny but instead of being funny and smart, they were very annoying and stupid, just makes people want to hate them and run away, so hard to watch. If you think it was a great movie" well you must be fucking blind because it isn't and not worth to pay a single penny, not even for free...
