4:01 shawn is rooting for Alicia. It's nice to know that the gymnasts from the 2008 olympics are still friends. It just shows gymnastics means more to them than just performing.
Alicia coached me and my friends at flip fest back in 2009 on floor. She has such a strong determination about her. You could tell she was very nonchalant about set backs, and welcomes a good challenge. Seeing her stay so strong in her elements is such an inspiration.
People keep saying "Alicia's back! Alicia's back!" ... well, in my opinion, I I don't know that she ever left.

She has SO much power on all her events. Her floor is amazing, i think it is good that she stepped out of bounds. Cause it shows that she has SO much power.
This was such an exciting event with all the comebacks and new seniors. Alicia's floor routine is one of the best I've ever seen choreography/music wise.
Alicia is one of my favorite gymnasts and one of the top 5 most beautiful women in the sport

@bbtalk27 You need to get your facts straight. She's not cocky she confident, something a gymnast as that caliber needs to be. And she is not the reason team USA lost gold in 2008, of course if would have helped it she stayed on, but count up the point if you know how. They would have still placed second just by less of a margin. Pretty sure if you had been training your whole life for the olympics and you made an extremely uncharacteristic mistake you would be pretty upset too, so stop blaming.
Those games were rigged by China for China and the female team had to surrender their gold medals later as NONE OF THEM WERE THE LEGAL INTERNATIONAL COMPETING AGE OF 14.
That said, Alicia STICKS THAT FLYING BACKWARDS BEAM MOUNT and that alone was so world class it should have gotten her a perfect score. HOWEVER having on 2 minor bobbles she was left with a lower score then the 2 Chinese girls THAT BASICALLY ALMOST FELL OFF THE BEAM.

And Marta Karolyi is banned THANK GOD as frankly she never should have been involved with this and had a serious thing against Sacramone from the start.
I think we all know and understand this was the single greatest team of female gymnasts EVER PLACED TOGETHER and it shall never be repeated.
The Fierce 5 was in my mind given the gold in London to make up for Bejing. Gabby Douglas just never impressed me in those games at all as she was just too young and should have been held back 1 more olympics so Alicia and the rest of the dream team could have made a curtain call. -just sayin
she is so much fun to watch! she always has been!

My only question here is how does a gymnastics competition become a litmus test for personality? You know, personality is part-temperament, and partly socially constructed. Our natural reaction to failure is to be upset. The reason we don't act like it is because we learn self-control, and respect, and good sportsmanship. These are our values. But do you really think any of these people give a shit about values when their entire careers can end because they took a step out of bounds?

I wouldn't even say that Alicia's is in the midst of a comeback. She's already back, and the world vault title proves it!!!!
As much as we'd love to see all of our favorite athletes acting humble, and smiling, and not acting like sore-losers, you have to give them credit for at least not fucking up the camera men. I'm not saying there's an excuse for having bad sportsmanship it's just that this camera view are very subjective and they don't even show like 80% of what actually goes on so you don't really know who congratulated whom, or supported whom, or bowed out in defeat gracefully. They like showing us-
@calculusfan1 She actually did an interview in 2008 that talked about her nails a little bit. Someone asked her how she kep them so nice. Alicia told her that it was a lot easier to keep her nails looking good now that she didn't do bars. She also said she liked having them longer to make her hands look longer, and thus her dance more graceful.
@TheOneAndOnlyDivo85 She can do front handsprings with 2 twists and yurchenko 2 1/2 twists also. Martha said to save them for visas.
By the way, Alicia and Raisman did not tie on vault, the 15.100 from Alicia was the average of her two vaults. Alicia actually scored a 15.700 on her first vault to Raisman's 15.100 on her first vault, then Raisman did not compete a second vault. So to say they tied is completely incorrect.

In the past I wasn't a fan of Alicia's dancing, but I thought her choreo looked quite elegant on floor. Also, did Tim say she's working on upgrading her first vault?! I heard she is working on an Amanar, but if she pulls a handspring double twist I'll probably wet myself.
Yes that is a under armour leo, but I am pretty sure she is sponsored by them or are looking for advertisement same with Visa on her arm. For her nails, I know that when I pole vaulted and did bar work my nails were always trashed almost impossible to keep them nice.
What happened to the floor?
@calculusfan1 for me it made beam easier to have the extra grip but it makes bars and floor harder at least for me

@AnnieBoPookie stepping out of bounds only gets .1 penalty, so if she stepped out 3 times, she got .3 off in landing penalties.

@TwisterFlipp95 Well TF was the ONLY time I've ever seen her make a mistake on her double arabian. Otherwise she's been so solid on that pass. She's even stuck it cold multiple times. Her triple twist was out-of-this-world amazing, a la 2005, but she didn't compete it after night 1 of 2007 nationals.
-the shitty side of losing just because it's more entertaining to watch. Clearly, because it's all people want to talk about. Seems to me like people care more about judging their character than their actual gymnastics abilities.

I'm sure what Tim Dagget has to say is not that important! hahah next time they need to just blast the music so loud that Tim will have no choice but to just shut the hell up & watch like most normal people!

I was searching for a more tactful way to ask this but whatever: Does the fact that she has larger breasts make it more difficult for her to compete? Most gymnasts at the Olympic level look like they don't have an ounce of fat on them, and in a sport where every tiny edge matters, does it limit her?
Question for any gymnasts out there - I noticed that Alicia has rather long fingernails. I would think with all the work a gymnast does with their hands that they would keep them short to avoid catching them on something or breaking them. Can anyone comment?
