If you watch some AOF2 Japanese matches on the Mi-ka-do channel they do this all the time with Robert. I was surprised as well when I first saw it.

AOF2 fue una digna continuación, conservaron la mayoría de efectos de sonido en impactos y algunos diseños desmejoraron un poco (Ryo, Robert, John y Lee) pero otros ganaron algo estéticamente (Micky, King, Jack y Mr. Big), las técnicas tipo zanretsuken ya no tienen el impacto visual de la primera parte pero igual mantienen la base. Es cuestión de gustos, pero en mi humilde opinión hay cosas que hacen al primer AOF insuperable: los gritos demenciales de Lee, la música tipo película de acción B, las voces en tono más serio, las patadas dobles aéreas... La única pega que le encontraría a los AOF es no aprovechar los cuatro botones como Fatal Fury/KOF. He disfrutado esta genial pelea entre los Kyokugen, queda demostrado que Robert es todo un caballero blanco con Yuri.
De hecho sí: hay uno para puñetazo fuerte, uno para patada fuerte (si se aprietan haciendo tapping, como la electricidad de Blanka en los Street Fighter, son ataques débiles), uno para lanzamientos y uno para burlarse del rival. La diferencia de cuándo es un ataque fuerte o débil la dice el mismo "how to play" del juego.
Sí, es obvio. A lo que me refiero es que en esa configuración ya vista en la saga World Heroes resulta más difícil de marcar precisión en cuanto a realizar combos que involucran golpes débiles y fuertes pues un momento más de presión harán que el ataque sea fuerte inevitablemente. Es más práctico tener esos golpes separados como en FF/KOF, pues permite mayor facilidad de combeo entre otras características más. Asignar una entrada sólo para hacer "Ora Ora" no creo que sea una buena idea de aprovechar una configuración de cuatro botones.

The Ryo/Roberto's manager is actually the competition black horse in the background, the horse is laughing because he has gambled Roberto's money on Ryo and Ryo's money on Roberto and the horse will take 100% of all the proceeds whatever happen! But eventually after Roberto's winning, he got a tip from the horse, so Roberto could get a ponytail haircut.

The invincibility on those uppercuts is insane. I can appreciate some of the things this game did, like characters faces showing damage when they start getting low on health. I imagine that sort of thing takes up resources which might explain why hardly any fighting games outside of MK9 and MKX have done it.
There's no difficulty, especially since the hardware evolution in the late 90s. It's just that nobody else wants to do it for reasons that are not technology related... see that not even Snk does in their other fg's. Which really is a shame.
2d fg's pretty much died (in spirit) before we see a game that tries to put together all or most those inventions from the 90s. They became more advanced in some parts but lost another parts at the same time. (One easy example is how stages became gradually poorer as fg's evolved in gameplay quality) Some ideas are simply abandoned, like these bruises, also AOF's charge up, stage interactions like FF3/RB1/RBS, even with transitions like in early Marvel games, taunt abilities like in Sf 3s, alternate modes that became popular with Kof 98 and Sfa3, fake moves or feints that became popular in FF, alternate versions from Samsho (that Mk revived as "Variations"), stage hazards like from World Heroes' Deathmatch, etc...
