There are people that born with a talent that never take advantage of, not in your case fortunatly. Love the way you support Arnaldo and the sense of calm you transmit. If I ever have to be a student pilot, just wanna have the luck on having someone like you to support me. Well done!
The most fun single engine aircraft I used to fly was a Mooney M20K. It was just wonderful! Johannesburg South Africa- Mozambique - Malawi - Harare - Lusaka - Johannesburg.
Hey Josh! Could you do a cost analysis video on aircraft ownership, realistically? You're very transparent on your flying, so it would be great to see how much this hobby can actually cost
Great video. I really like Arnaldo, he seems like the perfect friend/flying partner. Josh, as an ex pilot, I really appreciate what you do. I stopped flying many years ago, and have regretted it. Keep up the good work!!!
Gopro Creations AOPA has a Rusty Pilot program to get pilots back in the air. You can fly with Basic Med now, as long as you have no serious medical problems. Go to AOPA.org and look at the You Can Fly segment. 🛫😎
Okay, so i love Mooney's and despite where i'm currently living, the Great State of Texas is home. That being said, my favorite part was your Whataburger comment followed by a prop start censor!!! Keep it coming and Happy Flying!!
Been watching you for awhile now. This beauty is 3 years old. Your cinematography and editing even back then… outstanding. Even better today. And the Mooney… such a fantastic airplane. ✈️❤️🇺🇸
Josh, I subscribe to several aviation videos which are all excellent and informative, but the level of professionalism and artistry of yours exceeds them all. Thank you and keep up the great work. I know these take A LOT of time and effort. Much appreciated.
I appreciate the quality of your videos ! Everyone seems to have a camera and, they post them on TH-cam but, your'e a real artist on your blend of edits, music and sound! That is what separates you from the rest !
I'm reading Stick and Rudder and your comment around the 17:15 a little low & fast so we can trade speed for altitude stood out to me. I hope our paths cross sometime. Thanks for the video and the education!
You do a great job. I don’t fly too expensive for retirement people but I feel like I’m flying in your videos. I turn to your videos often for inspiration and learning about flying. I know a lot of real flyers do as well. Keep it up and good flying.
That food looked mighty good at the end. The flying, that was up to your usual awesome standard. Great seeing you guys together, sharing the passion with so many of us.
It is really neat to see Renaldo get up to speed in the high performance Mooney. He seems to be handling the transition very well. You guys make a great team in the cockpit. Really enjoying these videos Josh, you've truly elevated Aviation101 to another level.
I used to be as occasional viewer but I'm becoming a real fan. Your videos are becoming really really engaging and beautiful Thanks so much for your efforts.
Great part 2. IFR communications heading, altitude, cleared for approach always helpful to hear again and again. The entire IFR flight visual and auditory is superb while you review checklists during t.o., climb, cruise, descent, and landing. Can we see your protocol for IFR weather prep and route planning on ForeFlight? Thanks, Dr. Bill
All i have ever flown is cessna, 172 175 and now a 182tc skylane. I have always wanted to get some seat time in a mooney to fly and feel the different flight characteristics between the 2. Mooneys are beautiful aircraft..❤
Great video! Congrats on the new plane Arnaldo !! I sold my 172 in November and picked up and flew my new to me 182RG from Sacramento back to Rhode Island in December along with my instructor. Similar weather to your trip with some ice coming down through the clouds. I like Arnaldo had no complex or high performance time.
AWESOMENESS, didn't know they had speed brakes then, all my Mooneys were 2000+. Those precision Speedbrakes were fantastic! Always try to fly perfectly but my girls always try to float in the summertime in west Texas and the speed brakes take care of that!!! 🤣
When you said Driftwood I was thinking at last you took took him to the best BBQ possible.. That place is amazing !!! Salt Lick in Driftwood TX is without a doubt the best BBQ I have ever had..
It's really nice to have a good friend who is a CFI ! Arnaldo seems to be getting the idea of how to fly the Mooney. It is a big step up from a 172. All planes have different handling characteristics which I am sure you will address. I have no doubt that Arnaldo will do very well with his flight training under your tutelage. I am not a licensed pilot but would love to have you as my flight instructor!
Yes. The history of accidents with complex airplanes flown by well-rated and current pilots, especially these types, is largely a history of the pilot getting behind the airplane. Your "big step up" is actually an important comment for pilots to understand because too many do not recognize that enough and train and practice accordingly. The airplane was designed to minimize drag in all forms and one effect of that is that it can get away much faster in the wrong situation.
Great video! Nothing like the Mooney zoom! I have to say that the BBQ in that part of the world is top notch. While working in New Braunfels I got to dig into some Blacks bbq and Coopers bbq. Amazing stuff for a PA guy!
Hi guys, Another great series. Listening to Asheville departure, I had a hunch N1173x was a local tail number, that was the reason for their mix up on your N1173G.Upon checking 1173x is an Asheville aircraft. Hope Renoldo enjoys his new ride.
Grew up in Piper aircraft because my father worked for them, but always loved the Mooney better. All these small planes are so tight inside though, especially if there are two guys with wide shoulders. Fun just the same.
josh, you have found a life long friend/ flying partner my man. You all work well together in the cockpit. As always--great video , and take care from Cajun Country!!
Watched parts 1 and 2 great videography and very helpful to this guy who is getting back to flying after 10 years off. BTW I live 1 hour from San Marcos at Breakaway 40XS. Hope to meet Josh some day.
John Bell Williams! I flew out to Jackson to ferry a Navion I purchased from the owner there, all the way back to John Wayne in Orange County Ca. Great little airport.
You stopped at Raymond airport. My dad used to work at the FBO there. Aviation was his passion in retirement. He was a chemist and engineer by trade, but got his A&P after retiring so he could sign off on his own annuals. It kind of took off from there.
Great video! I always look forward to watching your videos. Not only do you create such excellent videos, you motivate me to better my aviation career. Keep up the good work. Inspire!
OK now. When you went to In-N-Out you were cutting where I live. I picked our home based on being to get to the northern most In-N-Out in California (and Trader Joes) they're both within a mile in Redding (KRDD) and with an hour maximum drive we ended up in Weaverville (KO54) about 50 minutes away. Having done a seven year combat tour in Missouri I can rate Sonic with a barf bag icon, but don't worry, McDonald's get's three bags. What a Burger earns a solid meh right along with Steak & Shake.. Keep up the good work. It's been fun watching you and your flying mature in these videos.
BTW, the Mooney's a sweet aircraft, but at 6'3" and 212 I'd need a shoehorn and a bottle of olive oil to get into the cockpit. Being tall isn't always an advantage.
This was a fun video. That airplane is cool but it seems a bit narrow. Not sure I could make that long trek being squished together for so long, lol. Thanks for the cool video!
Pity for the bad weather, but great video, great montage, it's a pleasure follow you guys !!!Thanks for sharing and for the effort to make such videos, i think it's not so easy ... bye from Italy !!!
Josh another great video! I messaged you a few years ago when I was working on getting my private pilot certificate. I am now a BGi Instructor planning my first systems ground school class. I look forward to each and every one of your videos. Your professionalism and love of aviation is a inspiration to everyone who watches.
Hey Josh, Since Arnaldo was having so much trouble flying and landing the Mooney, and the Mooney looks right at home in the hangar in San Marcos, I recommend that you let Arnaldo take 80991 back to Florida and Keep the Mooney in Texas. :)
I used to train Army pilots in San Marcos out of Randolf AFB in T42's (Barrons) and C-12's (King Air 200's); Ft. Sam Houston Flight Detachment. Miss the great BBQ. This was probably before you were born, circa 1979-84. Enjoyed your video.
one thing I love and really respect as a pilot and to other pilots is when the guy in front of u or near you let's the tower know of In climate weather I fly a 182 just grad from college with a com license
michael whittman It’s definitely helpful, but I wish tower would have told us before we departed. They told us about the report when we were about 500ft from entering the cloud layer. We knew it was super thin (could see blue sky through it). To help out I decided to give a report of what we saw on our climb.
I bet few of todays Mooney flyers even know about that big, manual gear handle we had to contend with in our early production aircraft! I've met several pilots, both men and women that spoke of having a heck of a time with the "Big Lever"! There was a bit of a knack to getting it right! You had to learn how to do it in one, smooth motion! 😉
Nice airplane > I hope your friend has the best of luck with it & that it serves him well for decades . So glad ya's made it safely to the airport in San Marcos . The Texas barbecue food looked delicious . It was making me hungry & I just ate a sandwich with coffee LOL !
I simply cannot imagine not liking this video. I loved it. Josh is truly a wonderful creator of first class videos.
There are people that born with a talent that never take advantage of, not in your case fortunatly. Love the way you support Arnaldo and the sense of calm you transmit. If I ever have to be a student pilot, just wanna have the luck on having someone like you to support me. Well done!

Great video. I really like Arnaldo, he seems like the perfect friend/flying partner. Josh, as an ex pilot, I really appreciate what you do. I stopped flying many years ago, and have regretted it. Keep up the good work!!!
You are still a pilot! Once a pilot, always a pilot!!
Gopro Creations AOPA has a Rusty Pilot program to get pilots back in the air. You can fly with Basic Med now, as long as you have no serious medical problems. Go to AOPA.org and look at the You Can Fly segment. 🛫😎
Some really good mentoring//instructing going on there. Very nicely done.
Arnaldo! you bought yourself a sweet aircraft and a great instructor. Good luck and enjoy for a long time.
Okay, so i love Mooney's and despite where i'm currently living, the Great State of Texas is home. That being said, my favorite part was your Whataburger comment followed by a prop start censor!!! Keep it coming and Happy Flying!!
In-N-Out is sooooo much better!!!!!
I love how the Mooney's stance looks somewhat aggressive on the ground. Nice plane Arnaldo. Congrats!
Been watching you for awhile now. This beauty is 3 years old. Your cinematography and editing even back then… outstanding. Even better today. And the Mooney… such a fantastic airplane. ✈️❤️🇺🇸
Clean looking 231! Looked like a great adventure and thats what its all about!
Love the lines of the Mooney, best looking GA plane in my opinion
Josh, I subscribe to several aviation videos which are all excellent and informative, but the level of professionalism and artistry of yours exceeds them all. Thank you and keep up the great work. I know these take A LOT of time and effort. Much appreciated.

WOW that airplane is achingly beautiful .
I'm reading Stick and Rudder and your comment around the 17:15 a little low & fast so we can trade speed for altitude stood out to me. I hope our paths cross sometime. Thanks for the video and the education!
nothing flies like a Mooney. I love the Mooney.
You do a great job. I don’t fly too expensive for retirement people but I feel like I’m flying in your videos. I turn to your videos often for inspiration and learning about flying. I know a lot of real flyers do as well. Keep it up and good flying.

I love Mooneys! Enjoyed this video tremendously!! It inspired me to buy my own last year! I bought a 1981 M20J.
What a burger is awesome! I love the way you introduced the prop start with that comment. Comedy gold 😂😂😂
I used to be as occasional viewer but I'm becoming a real fan. Your videos are becoming really really engaging and beautiful Thanks so much for your efforts.
So cool to see you guys fly out of my home airport of AVL.....nice shot of Mt. Pisgah with the tower
Looks like you have great instructor... started flying again after 25years with a new CFI , young and really bright.... good video.
Thanks, Dr. Bill
Whoa, foreshadowing, you are a great story teller Josh, can't wait for the next video.
All i have ever flown is cessna, 172 175 and now a 182tc skylane. I have always wanted to get some seat time in a mooney to fly and feel the different flight characteristics between the 2. Mooneys are beautiful aircraft..❤

Well done! One of the nicest vids I've seen on TH-cam! You are an excellent flight instructor.!
Moving the Mooney = The Mooney Moves :) Loved this the first time... but it's worth watching a second time
Flew a Mooney 231 for some time. What an home-sick angel that was.
AWESOMENESS, didn't know they had speed brakes then, all my Mooneys were 2000+. Those precision Speedbrakes were fantastic! Always try to fly perfectly but my girls always try to float in the summertime in west Texas and the speed brakes take care of that!!! 🤣
A very well done video...great shots that me feel like I was there. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE the Mooney speed brakes.
I would like to say ur dad taught you well! I thank u are a awesome Poilet!! I for got Wonderful video
Another great video, love the Complex/HP training while flying in less than “Ideal” conditions, that will make flying VFR Easy/Peasy !
When you said Driftwood I was thinking at last you took took him to the best BBQ possible.. That place is amazing !!! Salt Lick in Driftwood TX is without a doubt the best BBQ I have ever had..
I've always loved the way our Mooney's flew. But the cabin is so damn tiny!
We very rarely flew them with more then just the two of us aboard!
It's really nice to have a good friend who is a CFI ! Arnaldo seems to be getting the idea of how to fly the Mooney. It is a big step up from a 172. It just keeps getting better! Can't wait to see the instructional stuff! Thanks!
Gosh, your videos have such a great feel to them and the content is wonderful. Very enjoyable to watch. 👍🏻💪🏻
Loved how you said What-A-Burger. As a kid, I thought it was Water Burger in Concord, North Carolina
Great video! Nothing like the Mooney zoom! I have to say that the BBQ in that part of the world is top notch. While working in New Braunfels I got to dig into some Blacks bbq and Coopers bbq. Amazing stuff for a PA guy!
Hi guys,

Hope Renoldo enjoys his new ride.
Best aviation channel on TH-cam.
Jim M Ah, Premier 1 driver is probably top, this one (as far as GA), right there
Nice video Josh, and Arnaldo! Nice iFR work too!
Deon Mitton thanks!!! Now I need to get you and Trevor to do a quick hop to the Bahamas! She doesn’t have any floats tho 😅
Excellent video and what a beautiful plane! Thanks for taking the time to share this flight.
Grew up in Piper aircraft because my father worked for them, but always loved the Mooney better. All these small planes are so tight inside though, especially if there are two guys with wide shoulders. Fun just the same.
Nice editing touch at 11:45 . And I wholeheartedly agree.
Josh you are right on the money here ... great series again ... only a matter of time till you guys go mainstream great things ahead 👍
josh, you have found a life long friend/ flying partner my man. You all work well together in the cockpit. As always--great video , and take care from Cajun Country!!
Love the video, like getting free orientation to the plane.
Great series, and that Mooney looks awesome!
Beautiful Airplane. Nicely done
Great video! Great instructor! I flew a Mooney M20-F with a ray jay turbo. So enjoyable to fly. Congratulations on the new to you Mooney!
Of course, another great video with a great series, a great plane, and a great narrator
Watched parts 1 and 2 great videography and very helpful to this guy who is getting back to flying after 10 years off. BTW I live 1 hour from San Marcos at Breakaway 40XS. Hope to meet Josh some day.

Fantastic Video. I am hooked. Can’t wait to see part 3. Thank you.
Nice flight. Thank you for sharing.
I have a question for anyone who gave this a thumbs down. WHY? I don't get it. I don't even fly and I love Aviation 101.
awesome video Mooney is my ultimate airplane thanks for the video
Great video! I always look forward to watching your videos. Not only do you create such excellent videos, you motivate me to better my aviation career. Keep up the good work. Inspire!
Are you kidding me? I’m eating a Big Mac and there a big ol piece of brisket staring at me from the screen. Looks great.

Love the documentary style editing, great job on the trip video 👍
Congrats on the beautiful Mooney Renaldo!
10:32 power of editing! Lol. Great video as always.
The editing is on the ball here lol!!! Another great video
“And if you disagree with that, you’re just a c-“ 😂😂😂
That was funny...
He speaks the truth!
lmaoooo

Whataburger! love it ! Have to make a trip your way from Austin. Keep it coming
Another awesome episode, Josh! WHATABURGER FOR THE WIN!
Great video, Excellent skills such professionals.

@avation 101 talking like a true Texan whataburger is the best. I miss it.
The law of diminishing returns definitely applies to whataburgers. Have a few, then come home to what they serve at a bar and grill. Much better.
Nice airplane > I hope your friend has the best of luck with it & that it serves him well for decades . So glad ya's made it safely to the airport in San Marcos . The Texas barbecue food looked delicious . It was making me hungry & I just ate a sandwich with coffee LOL !
Josh that was so nice of you to let Reynaldo (is that his correct name I hope) put his new plane in your hanger at your home airport .
Josh as part of the upgrade to your plane are you putting auto pilot in it this time ?
It is still flying; The training must have went well.
You are still happy with the purchase?
Great video. Thank you.
That’s a sweet ride
You are an excellent flight instructor and commentator😀😎
Living in the northern half of "flyover territory", we don't have either chain here. We only just got a Shake Shack in recent years.
Beautiful episode.
Brilliant!
12:30 ----> more of that please X'D
I like the "Red, Blue, Green, Runway's Clean" call out. Assume that is Mixture, Prop, Gear Down, runway clear?
More one nice and amazing video. I am quite exciting to wait for next! Hugs Friends
keep up the great vids, im currently go through my ppl atm and your videos are helping me a lot,so thank you!
Another great video Josh! I got my Aviation101 hat and mug really quick after ordering, thanks a bunch!
