    Hello Rob, great to see after looking for tips and tricks and seeing SOOO many Big Mouth Bass in dirty rivers rather than views of NZ - finally hooked a good 'un here. Just moved to West coast of Auckland and learning my way around the very different Manukau Harbour but finding some good fish there. Also REALLy pleased to watch anything presented in this friendly and relaxed way on growing, cooking, being more sustainable and just re-connecting with the simpler ways of doing things.

    100% agree on bleeding snapper. I’ve also been doing this the last 2yrs and I’m convinced it improves the quality and lasts better in the fridge. I iki my fish before bleeding though.

    Great to see you back! Luv the ganjigs too.. I have been bleeding snapper for a year or 2 now, and it is better eating. I prefer to ike first, put fish out of misery. The heart will keep pumping the blood out for several minutes after ike. Just my thoughts.. See you in November.

    • @NZkayakfishing
      @NZkayakfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks those gan jigs for sure! Thanks for the bleed tip the idea was introduced to me when out fishing with some of the fishing dot net crew and will certainly try your way as I did struggle with letting them sit while bleeding this way especially given I keep aquariums and fish at home. Look forward to catching up in November and will be a goody this year I reckon cheers

    Mean to see you back Brother Rob. I think personally what I dislike about some fishing channels is that they talk too much about fishing and fishing gear rather than just filming how great it is to be out on the water. I also enjoy the yarns especially :D Excited to see more content

    Hey Rob, so stoked to see you back!! I love your approach to fishing and life. Its just great to keep getting the message out there about sustainably and respectfully gathering from Tangaroa. I love anything Kayak fishing related, but I love seeing some of the great places around Coromandel (and further afield maybe?), I love any gear reviews/maintenance, any wildlife you come across is always great to see. Yip, definitely food topics. Its been way too long since we have been up, if the planets align I might get up there with the boys in a week or 2, will definitely drop in if we make it! Welcome back Rob. Well done on weathering the "COVID Storm" and the effects it had on you = great show of resilience and adaptability. Love all your videos - I'm just on final prep for getting back into kayak fishing and taken a lot of lessons from your vids (and purchased some of your items too). New direction and new content = lots of scope there - perhaps look to include some content for those younger members who have no-one in their life to show them how to forage for a feed emphasizing you don't need expensive $5K+ kayak + $3+K gear/setup to get a feed. Subjects like minimal gear and how (and when) to make a fire on the beach, to scoop some white-bait, to forage - what sandy beaches offer and what rocky areas offer - catch and cook up some crabs, pipi, cockles, seaweed, how to site and construct an overnight shelter and surf cast or rock-pool forage - many young ones would if they knew how and would drag them away from the "device" and the fish n chip shop. Go well Rob.

    Hey Rob it's really great to see you back! I've always enjoyed your kayak videos but as the creator of those videos, you have to be happy making them. Personally, I'd enjoy seeing a bit of variety in terms of subject matter. Maybe you could try a mix of 25% Kayak fishing, 25% land based fishing, 25% home life including gardening and artwork and maybe the other 25% could be traveling to new fishing locations, camping and catch n cook stuff. Don't put too much pressure on yourself mate. You've got to enjoy making the content otherwise what's the point. I've always found your work to be educational and entertaining so i look forward to seeing more of you in the future.

      Thank you, yes kingfish are something I enjoy targeting and this year hasn't been that conducive for this and some of the areas I target them.
