I’m going to just start releasing these “inspired by” songs on the Banana Labs Spotify because why not. open.spotify.com/album/37jZ2ANKU6VMh2XSj4iDak?si=Wia07AR9TYW9lua9PGpCng
That's great. I'm just disappointed that you took down so many songs that were in my personal playlist already (In the hour, Is this you, Leave a Trail...).
i swear every upload just inspires me to go jump in FL and make something 🤣🤣 my dumbass is stuck with pure midi rn though and free guitar vsts. been practicing guitar at a friends on the weekends so we'll get there eventually LMAO
I appreciate you prefacing the video with saying that this is your interpretation of post punk. I've seen a lot of creators claim this is how post punk is made while it is essentially a tiny fraction of a huge confusing mess of genre that in reality is just a combination of countless genres that came before it. Love the song you made! Would be very curious if you could do something inspired by Devo, Talking Heads or early PIL, would love to see you tackle some of the weirder sides of post punk
Yeah absolutely! Totally agree. I try to be careful with the words I use because I know people like to come after me about that sometimes. I appreciate your support! Yeah that’d be a good challenge for me. I’ll consider those artists and see which one is less out of my reach. Thanks for the suggestions!
This is pure post punk man, what a beautiful song too! Looking foward for more content like that Also, I would like to thank you for introducing me to the shoegaze, your videos helped me a lot to understand and appreciate more this style!! Keep it up man!
I am also a Focusrite fan. I owned the 3rd generation 4i4 and now the 4th generation 4i4. The 4th gen was a step up, I admit. Anyway, that bass was perfect. I really think it's the bass that makes up a lot of the Post Punk sound. Well done.
Awesome. The 4th Gen is an upgrade for sure! Did you have any trouble installing the driver to your computer?? I did :/ But I eventually figured it out. Yes, agreed! Bass does play a huge part in post punk.
Wow this one turned out extra great. Vocals were especially amazing Also I’m hearing some people correcting you that the genre is not actually post punk but rather pink Pilates princes strut pop fusion core
Cool track, that Danelectro sounds great. They seem to always sound good in recordings to me, never played one. Thanks for the video, I’m feeling inspired to record and try something new.
@ I’m waiting for a Danelectro to be shipped to me now. I had been looking for a J Mascis Telecaster, but decided to get the Danelectro 59’ Triple Divine in Black. It was just too good looking to me and sounds unlike anything else I have now.
We understand post punk very differently. I think of Fugazi and Sonic Youth, you think of Soft Kill and such. Post punk should be immediately the genre created after punk not years later
Exactly. Which is why I stated in the beginning of the video that this was my interpretation of writing a post punk inspired song. This is definitely the only way.

@bananalabs , I didn't have any trouble, because the first thing I uninstall is MacAfee. 😉
Ahhh! Smart guy!
@@bananalabs , I try. Hehe
I recommend Avast or AVG (free versions).
I’ll check those out. Thanks, Sam!
This was amazing, I currently like ableton a lot, I hope more detailed content about it is postpunk. Very good video. Brazil was here
Wow this one turned out extra great. Vocals were especially amazing

Thanks, Ian! Haha!! Yeah you can say this style music is something like that 🤷🏻♂️
Cool track, that Danelectro sounds great. They seem to always sound good in recordings to me, never played one. Thanks for the video, I’m feeling inspired to record and try something new.
Thank you! I love this Danelectro, man. You can get some nice tones with it! Appreciate you for watching 🙏🏻

Yeaaahhhhh!!! Super excited for you, man! Let me know how you like it when you get it.
Thanks man, I will do that. I used your affiliate link for Sweetwater to buy it, hopefully they kick you back enough for lunch or something 🤙🏼
Love the vibe of this one!
Thanks, Matt!🙏🏻🫶🏻

Hey, how about making a song inspired by have a nice life?! That'll be sick!!
I second this
play this loud and at half speed. there u go
I saw post punk so I only played 3 chords palm muted
Haha That’ll do it!
Sounds Great!! Really like that bassline!! I'll definitely check out the Spotify. 😃😃
Thank you!! I appreciate your continued support, Tim! 🙏🏻
I loved the Mono Synth Lead idea
Thanks!
Very nice piece from Maestro (in the mood of bedroom - in my head) and Castlebeat 🎉
Thank you! Appreciate your support!🙏🏻
Its so catchy, i love it! Never got in touch with this kind og genre. Could you recommend some music which is similar to your riff? :)
try giving nurnberg a listen 🤙
I have a Danelectro and a few Silvertone guitars. I need to start getting more serious about practicing.
Silvertones are awesome! I want to get my hands on one.
Good song
Thank you!
Great sound... I'd boost the vocals a little this is almost dream-pop :)
Thank you! Noted. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll keep that in mind for future reference.
@@bananalabs No worries, keep going, love your stuff!!
I appreciate you!
@@bananalabs Same
Yoo, Thank you!!!
any tips on mixing and mastering for this genre
That Danelectro is so beautiful.
It’s giving me major GAS ⛽️
Thanks, Chris! 🚶🏽♂️💨
I love the internet
Hey, me too!
Great upload as always. What guitar tuning are you using?
Thank you! Drop C#
Still waiting for Slint...😮😢
Worth the wait though!
Slint is on the list! Thanks for your patience 🙏🏻
Great stuff man! Curious on what kind of camera you use for your videos?
Thank you! I use a Canon EOS R
Lol i have a small marshall combo amp with built in effects. Should i still upgrade and get a chorus or effect pedal or is gewd enough??
I say work with what you have! Always. And if you don’t have a chorus pedal then you have no business playing post punk (just kidding) :)
@bananalabs thats awesome lol actually not true if you dont have chorus. You still have delay and flanger 🙃
Yeah see there ya go!
Any recommendations on bands that sound like this?
molchat doma, Motorama, joy division. My fav tho is Lebanon Hanover.
Sounds like 90% of music right now
Of course it does- If this is the only kind of music you listen to.
@bananalabs it's not 🤷🏻♂️
Then I encourage you to make something different so that you get yourself in that 10%. You have my support, now go get em, B!
Sounds more like goth rock than post punk, but not bad.
the vocal has to be deeper 😃
sounds like eyedness haha
Great ear. That was the inspo!
