The Thanksgiving Address , "We humbly recognize and give Thanks for - - - " (although I do recognize what the English language expression structure lacks what the original languages say)

Thank you for making this video, but the speaker seems to be rushing and not at all sincere. These words deserve to be said with reverence and actual thanksgiving, in my humble opinion

Hi, Jacob. There are less that 2,500 speakers of the Mohawk language in Canada, and most are older, so I imagine this young man has learned the language in one of the excellent youth programs on the Akwesasne territory. He's probably having to concentrate very hard, and would be concerned that he's getting the words correct. Indigenous language was decimated by the Canadian residential school system.

@@jimpalmer2561 Thanks for responding to this. Most white people expect us to go in performance mode (like we are the stoic Indian in an old western movie smh), it's best for non-natives not to have any opinion on any of our ceremonies or practices. That privilege was taken from them a long time ago!

They use it instead of a pledge of allegiance at some schools. But it’s a reminder of what you love, not a pledge to some hegemond. It can be said however the individual wants to, I think

Ah, the white mansplaining. How do any of us live without it? Peacefully. Sit down sir, and know your place.
