- These words of Thanksgiving were a gift from our Haudenosaunee ancestors, many of whom helped bring about the Great Law of Peace. We speak these words of Thanksgiving at the opening and closing of ceremonies and gatherings as a way to remember and honor the many gifts of the natural world and of the Creator.
