    In the beginning, she was the one born in the back of the wagon, then HER child was born in the back of the wagon. Her dad preached a little gospel, then later when she had her child, it was Grandpa (same guy) who was preaching a little gospel, and selling some Dr. Goode. It's a story of a young girl and a repeated cycle.

    In the 60’s and 70’s, Cher had variety shows, one with Sonny her husband “The Sonny and Cher Show” and after the divorce “The Cher Show”. Bob Mackie made all of her costumes and every week as a little girl I was so excited to see how cool Cher looked. 😁❤️

They were that huge. Have always loved her since, as singer and actress. Cher was the master of changing her look before Madonna. She and her first husband, Sonny actually started recording in the mid 60’s when she was a teen. I got you Babe was her signature song before Believe came out in the 90’s. Cher is 75 and doesn’t seem to plan on stopping.

    Thanks for your reaction--you are the best! Cher has been performing since she was a teenager in the 60's. You reacted to Righteous Brother's "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" two years ago and if you look closely, you will see a 16 or 17 year old Cher with very long hair doing back up vocals. We grew up watching her and husband on "The Sonny and Cher" show and her old classic songs are the best. You would enjoy her old hits "Half Breed" and "Dark Lady" too. Her late husband, Sonny, wrote their best hit "I've Got You Babe" when they were very young and just starting their career. She was later married to the late Greg Allman and her son, Elijah, is a musician that played in the band when she did her 80's hit "Believe". I love how you react to such a variety of classics from different genres and your sincerity and enjoyment of your music journey!

    This is from the Sonny & Cher Comedy Show mid 70s, tho she & husband Sonny's musical careers go back to the 60s. They had some really good music guest stars too. Cher showcased designs by Bob Mackie (a very popular designer at the time) - she was always thin as a board - so everything hung perfectly on her. Her husband Sonny was directly responsible for her success.

    "I Got You Babe" is a song performed by Sonny & Cher and written by Sonny Bono. It was the first single taken from their debut studio album Look at Us. In August 1965, their single spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States[1] where it sold more than 1 million copies and was certified Gold. It also reached number one in the United Kingdom and Canada.
    In 1985, a cover version of "I Got You Babe" by British reggae-pop band UB40 featuring American singer Chrissie Hynde peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart and reached number 28 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

  • @ElizabethGS
    @ElizabethGS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    THIS performance was done during her and Sonny's 'The Sonny and Cher Show' which ran on TV for a few Seasons (unsure of the years). They did some comedy skits and she (and he, here and there) sang different songs. Some were theirs, but they also tackled other songs of the day. I believe they might have even been divorced during the shooting of the Show, but got along well enough to keep things on track. It was a really popular show since she came out with THE most stunningly beautiful designer outfits --somewhere there has to be a photographic compilation of what she wore then. Btw - their first big hit (and album) 'I Got You Babe' was from the 1960's. I still have that album - my first bought with saved up money from my first job. :)

    Cher is the only artist to date to have a number-one single on a Billboard chart in six consecutive decades, from the 1960s to the 2010s. Sonny & Cher (husband & wife) had their first hit, I Got You Babe, in 1966. And it's GREAT!!! Lots of hits for the duo after that, too, as well as a hit TV show. After their '75 divorce, she released her first solo album in 1979, & has been making hit records & movies (she's an Academy Award winner) ever since. If I Could Turn Back Time is one of my favorites of hers.

    You should go back to 1965 when Cher was 19, and she and her husband Sonny Bono peformed as Sonny and Cher. They had a No. 1 hit with "I Got You, Babe." Cher also had a solo No. 1 hit in 1973 with "Half-Breed."

    This was on the Cher TV Variety show where she'd wear different looks every time and had many guests like Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Dean Martin, etc. Watch one of her concerts on TH-cam and you'll see what a great entertainer she is an check her out in the movies She's done too. To say that when she first started it was her ex-late-husband Sony Bono who pushed her to sing publicly because he thought she had a great voice, but she forced him to sing with her. She's also a half-breed Cherokee and sings Half-Breed, which you should listen to as well.

    Not even the 70s, her first hit was in 1965i was a duet with her then husband sonny called I got you babe. She’s been around forever and her last hit was in 2018 when she made her own soundtrack for the new mamma mia movie that came out then.

    This looks like it might be from Sonny and Cher's variety TV weekly show. Looks like Bob Mackie's designs, who also did the Carol Burnett Show's costumes at the same time, which must have been a challenge.

    That little thing is the difference between a singer and an entertainer... That is why we still watch her...

    Hey Man Cher has a great array of music from Rock to Ballads that are awesome. Since the 60's with then husband Sonny Bono to A long list of great duo's with Meatloaf to Beavis and Butthead Check out Meatloaf's Dead Ringer For Love Cher's confidence and swag really comes through on that one
