Completely burned out pro musician here: worked 10+ years as a full-time musician offering various services, from teaching to songwriting, performing for venues to selling my own music. Got a decent amount of success doing it, but never enough to feel like I reached a comfort zone. Freelancing is all I've ever known in my adult life and I've been very lucky, yet now I kind of long the stability of employment.... I never thought I'd find myself here saying that. But here's the thought I have: I hope finding a stable job as a software engineer might help me treat music as a hobby for a while, and eventually help me reconnect with it and start being playful again.

As a 16 year old who doesn't even have a 9 to 5 job yet, your an inspiration to me. Keep it up! Just subscribed. One of the things I've found when it comes to emails/business tasks is I'll batch that to do first thing in the morning for an hour (Focused only on those tasks) then close email for the rest of the day until the next morning!
So for the remainder of my creative output I don't have any external stressors pinging into my workflow;

I’m in the same position of starting a youtube channel and continueing my music production, but I can’t decide because of the not so kind situation that I’m in right now(lost my business, no money, just broke up after nearly 5 years, can’t stay in the country which lived for the past 13 years due to visa rejection! and … I’m 39!) but I don’t give a f*** 😁 your video definitly put the seed in my head, let’s see what gonna happen next! Thank you very much for this video. I've experienced everything you've said (and continue to do so, but much less often!) I felt burnout for about an entire month. I couldn't even open my laptop, I was so burnt out. It was awful. That was a big changing point for me. I started to take weekends for myself (like you mentioned) and started time blocking my time to focus on music a few hours per week (whenever I felt motivated). Focusing on music much more during the weekends and not pressuring myself to work so much has been such a big help. It's really helpful to see that other creators also have experienced the same thing, so thank you so much for sharing!

I think that the issue here is the monotony, I mean, everyday, everytime you need to be in the same room making the same activies and although is a passion monotory makes it "boring/exhausting".
Have you thought of recording content from diffdrent places? Maybe videos like this that are more kinda "vlogs" can be recorded in an alternative environment.
However, is just what I think, I'm sure that is matter of time till you figure out your best method, you got this. 💪🏼
Yes thats true why I do video sometimes outside, I know a studio all set up is great and all but I dont bing inside to much, so I will make music or video outside with Mu laptop and that will be a big part of My channel. I dont share the same issue as PLV in terms of not being able to make My own music just for Me because thats what I have done for years. I have so music I stop My self from creating more, Im talking 3000 projects unreleased music. I could spend a cupple years never making any brand new music and just release what I have already got.I could release two tunes a week for about 3 years if I want.

Thank you for suggesting that, I think it'd be super refreshing indeed, I guess I was just scared my audience wouldn't follow if it's not in a "studio" or anything music related but yeah, you're right! :) I'll definitely think about that for the next video!!! (Although I'll have to record in front of other people and.. that won't be easy haha!)

Hey PLV, have you considered going on 'work away' type trips to travel somewhere, enjoy a holiday and set aside a day or two to batch-create some content while out there? I've noticed all your content is in your studio, which is great but I think a good way to recharge would be to take a trip away for a couple weeks then come back refreshed and ready to make some heat. I'm still part-time producing but when I go full time this is my plan to keep things exciting, as I love travelling and some countries you can stay in for weeks for less than rent would be in my home city (Manchester, UK).
Would also mean you can shoot in unique locations to sprinkle in amongst your other content and keep your feed more dynamic!

Ofcourse you're going to ' love' and keep doing the coaching because that is what brings in the money. Monetising advice you're not actually following yourself. No hate. Oh yeah - I actually recorded the day I quit... I was crying, shaking, hyper ventilating, it was terrifiyng 😂 But 5 minutes after I felt SO GOOD!!!!
My studio desk is a standing desk from IKEA (the legs only), the rest was made custom by someone in my family!

Thanks a lot, I was hoping for the video to achieve that 🥰 For the accountability group, it's one that was founded when I took an online course about sponsorships so they all have different niches. But I'm planning on starting a music producer accountabiity group this year one way or another ;)

Well at least while You was working it was a home job and something related to music and or creative. I got made redundant from My factory job by a robot in October, now Im claimung welfare and trying to get the ball rolling again in music and social media, will I succeed before bwing forced back into dead end job by the government. Thats is the question.

i took a break from music for 1 and half year to get a job when i got the job and i became comfortable with it then i started producing music again
How did you feel after the break?
@@musicbyplv I was afraid that I might lose my skills and all of the hours I invested in learning music after taking a long break. But to my surprise, I didn't. In fact, I got better. It took me around 2-3 weeks to get back in the groove. And now I'm treating music just like a hobby, and I'm really enjoying it. Before, I was working with the mindset that I had to be successful in 2-3 years, but now it's like, 'Forget it, it doesn't even matter how long it will take to make a living with music. I just have to produce

Being doing music stuff full time more than ten years and I actually found myself with almost no creativity towards myself. And listening to less music during my free time. I force myself to listen to new music as part of my own job. You are so damn right on this one. With my ADHD, the non-musical part is really a nightmare. No videos for now hence I’m color blind though. I’ve been living in Japan for 23 years, and there are already too many “Look At Me I’ Living In Japan!” videos out there. Btw, I don’t want to sound rude, but I’m sure being a female stops many males from watching your videos. Subscribed.
