    Fun fact.
I never knew Lewis and Clark used an air rifle in 1803 when mapping the Louisiana Purchase until I read it at a historical information board near Lolo Montana.

My father has told me that story at least 5 times lol he's in his 70s so he gets a pass. But his twist is , they showed it to the Indians and the Indians thought all the guns were repeating rifles like the air gun was so they didn't mess with them. Sorry native Americans for you sensitive folks

@@WHOTEEWHO I’ve posted before when you dragged out your Avenger that I own the .177. And it’s a tac driver with the 10.3 Air Arms ammo. And also holds MOA at 50 with the JSB Knock Out slugs.
I own three different kinds of lead slingers.
Yes I do well in many different powder burner bing bangs.
But nowadays most of my trigger time is with my PCP air rifles. As you are well aware they are cheaper to practice with. And to me, not everybody, any trigger time is a damn good time! 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️😉🔥

The energy difference is astounding. Barrel length and the air release valve timing also makes a huge difference. Lots of kits for PCP rifles can delay the air valve and increase velocity but you lose a lot more air per shot.

I’ve been debating between these two calibers for small pest management. Basically, the .22 has less impact but flies a little further at a flatter trajectory. It also really depends on what air gun you shoot it from. Damn, now you got me looking to buy another air gun! Great video, thanks!

  • @pauleggers1834

They are both really good pellets. I would pick the .22 though because of availability and shot count per fill on the air. At least in my area the .22 pellets are available .25 has to be ordered. I also have extreme accuracy with FX Atomic pellets at 905 fps they group almost 1 hole at 50 yards. Slugs in both of these are also very impressive. I like Nielsen Specialty Ammo. Very accurate and made right here in the USA over in Missouri.

You still have to get quality pellets such as Benjamin. The Daisy pellets are made for the Daisy 880, and are softer, lighter and too high of variation in weights. Gamo pellets are good too. The best are the European brands and those baracuda hunter extremes are awesome. I picked up a stash during Covid along with a couple of Gamo air guns. They make for cheap target practice. After learning about them, I would love to have a PCP for consistency.

I have a .25 cal Benjamin Marauder that has similar performance. When we're talking small bore air rifles, recoil, cost per shot, and air consumption are relatively similar . In my opinion, the .25 is useful for everything the .22 is useful for, plus more. That doesn't hold true for the reverse, therefore, I'd go with the .25 cal. I've probably taken a couple hundred squirrels with mine, most of which were headshots. It'll print a dime sized group at 35 yards with JSB Exact Match Kings.

BUT with the Gas powered Springer, I can leave that in the closet, not worry about whether there is air in it keeping the seals good and grab it real quick, pump and shoot. pushed both these calibers many times through gel at high velocity and 30 yard range. with a fx gun the only pellet to expand is a crosman destroyer. got much more expansion with the .25 cal. it doesnt scale . the .25 has the momentum to open up.

Nothing better than a lip of lead. Dont eat the paint chips. Get yourself a lead lip pillow.

I'm not convinced that Clay is an accurate representation of flesh just as I'm not sure if ballistics gel is an accurate representation of Flesh. If you see videos or pictures of Klay shot with a 25 caliber or a 22 caliber pellet it looks like a cannon went through the clay when you shoot the same ballistics through ballistics gel the cavities do not come close to representing what clay looks like. The ballistics gel cavities are much much smaller. So which is the correct one?

I never said it was an accurate representation. Just is fun to show in a video

I LOVE your videos !!! .... I have to say I was shocked to see you putting LEAD pellets in your lips ! I did that as a kid and scares me to death now knowing how toxic it is. No offense meant. Keep up the awesome work.

Too bad squirrels and jackrabbits aren't made of clay. Very cool test!
I'd be careful with lead in you mouth. Some pellets have a graphite coating too. 😮

Why didn't you chronograph the 25?
