Fresh Mod 1956 Otis/R&O Traction Elevator Modded by MEI (2024) @ UMD Kirby Student Center

Here we have the complete mess at UMD. It’s a 1956 Otis traction that was originally modded by R&O in the 90s. It has Adam’s buttons, 90s 2-speed relay controls and was fairly nice. However, MEI in 2024 got ahold of it.
MEI replaced the buttons with Innovation Universal and replaced the controller with some sort of digital controller. The controller sucks, it levels faster than it used to by seconds, but it’s irrelevant since the acceleration and deceleration is so bad. It probably evens out in the end but I much preferred the old controller. I also don’t like the weird indicator and buttons behavior of this controller, the arrow kinda just comes on whenever it feels like it. It looks cheap and low effort.
This elevator had several issues before the mod, here is which ones they fixed and didn’t.
Rough brake - Fixed
Indicator and floor passing chime didn’t work sometimes - fixed
Vibration and shaking when going down due to failing motor - Not fixed
Unreliable - yet to be determined.
