This is what you call reporting. Showing the truth and details, asking questions, transparency, being in there in person to confirm not just haka haka. Our kababayans are happy to see these projects and assure us that the goal of the govt is not just a lip service.

Thankfully, the final question AND (more importantly) the final answer was significant and meaningful. Very sensible answer by Architect Lico.People should also understand that culture, history, heritage, national identity, national pride are VERY important to any independent nation. I'm also happy with how Ms. Drilon handled this documentary/tour. Very objective and candid YET no intentional negativity and no sense of "crab mentality" or "colonial mentality" syndrome. P.S. I just couldn't help but notice the unusual looking shoes of Ms. Drilon.

love the last words of the show... "Buildings like this are just not buildings but they are repository of history cast in stone".. hope someday more Filipinos will be able to differentiate between the panandaliang aliw or lunas and HERITAGE... as history have thought us, embracing HERITAGE and CULTURE are primary ingredients to a successful nation...

I love the line of questioning of Ma'am Cess and how the design consultant answered the questions. Very educational! Wish ko lang na sana marami pang heritage sites sa Manila ang marestore.
By the way, I love how Ma'am Cess inspected everything. That's how a good journalist should do!

Ces you are an exception to the present crops of media people, no bias in reporting. No amount of money can equate restoring our heritage that symbols who we are as Filipinos. So balance reporting and full of vivid information! The vlog was 30mins plus but I was not bored watching it. I was fond of this place but a dilapidated one before ...when I was a rower around early 90's where the athletes facilities also located. It was so bad , I saw where the weightlifting area, possibly Hidilyn Diaz also trained there. The worst part is the athletes dorm...you can see the dimly lit and decrepit area , where they hang their shirts that invites mosquitoes. Imagine , dirty toilets, lightings, poor equipment , etc. And now , I was so amazed of the transformation. Kudos to the Architect preserving the aesthetic of the facility. No more sweats for audiences, since it is equipped with centralized aircon. I hope they will maintain it for many more years to come. So that the future generation will understand the rich history of the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

I was a volunteer PT here back in the 2005 Sea Games, and wow they really did a great job in restoring this landmark. Back then I cannot imagine what athletes of other countries think of the facilities - broken tiles, dingy facilities, dark lighting, etc. Basically, it was not something a Filipino can be proud of.

That's true. Rizal Memorial and Vito Cruz was the scene of one of the last stands of the Japanese during WWII in Manila. In fact, so many of Manila's rich people died here. Vito Cruz was where the wealthy lived at the time. We can still see some of their mansions along V Cruz today. They sought refuge in the La Salle compound during the war. But many of them were messacred by the Japanese there when they were found, especially in the DLSU chapel where prayed.

Very sensible answer by Architect Lico.People should also understand that culture, history, heritage, national identity, national pride are VERY important to any independent nation. With this posting from ANCX and the first hand account of Ms Ces Drillon and the very enlightening and educational narrative given by Architect Lico, hopefully the "utak talangka" na Pilipino will appreciate that history, art and culture is as important aspect of nation's growth and identity as the food we ate and things we owned. Salamat na lang may ganitong klaseng tao (Pilipino) like Arch. Lito and those from PSC and PAGCOR. So contrary to some media that reported this facilities are not ready yet is false news. Because this is actually separate conservation work not intended for SEA Games.

As I read the caption mentioning the budget, I expected the content to elaborate how 250M was used detail by detail. It sounds really big... But if we are talking about renovation of a huge and OLD facility with so many problems and constraints, such money becomes just a decent enough cost, not really luxurious. In many cases, renovation costs more expensive than construction from zero.

Wires were installed in the bleacher section as if spectators were caged as an aftermath of violent NCAA basketball games. Ateneo lost to San Beda in a closed door game which led to their departure from the league. Followed by La Salle a few years later. This feature-interview is very informative. The guy knows a lot. This is very good material for students of Architecture and Interior Design.

"History casts in the concrete matter." Thank you Mr. Architect. Thank you Ces. Dapat i cast yan sa brain matter ng mga demolition critics. Palibhasa ang mga misguided critics na ito katulad ni Drilon at LP ang over obsessive sa pera kaya nakalimutan na ang importance ng art and history para sa kahit aling bansa. These critics would like to demolish even the Filipino spirit as a nation.

The fact that Rizal Memorial Coliseum is one of the few prewar built heritage adds to it magnificence.
The fact that Mr. Gerard Lico is the head for its rehabilitation is a testament to how serious the history of this establishment is.
Can't wait for Manila Metropolitan Theatre.
P.S. The lady is very skeptical to the point that it's insulting.
