Also, there is a fabulous hike from PV (take the local bus to Boca de Tomatlan)to Las Animas beach. The hike is 2 hours, is well marked and fun. We take the water taxi back to Boca de Tometlan at the end of the day. Boca is where you can get a water taxi to Yelapa, I believe. Cheers from snowy Ontario, Canada

I saw someone else comment that your windshield wiper motor is busted - let me know if you want me to replace that for you (should be cheap if I can find a used one here in town - maybe $20 - I think they’re about $45 USD new). Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine 🍺

      Yes, that definitely needs to happen before I drive it back south, especially if it's colder weather. It's getting stuck behind those trucks kicking up mud that really messes up your vision. If you ever have the free time then feel free to go for it, used or new, but no big hurry whatsoever. I was figuring to do it when I got back. If you replace it then I will of course pay you back and then some.

    Hey Gabe, you should check out either Hidalgo (mountainous regions east of Mexico City) or Chiapas (tropical region that borders Guatamalea).
    In Hidalgo they have a lot of small and beautiful little mining towns called "Pubelo Magicos". One of them, Mineral del Monte, has a rich history of English miners (people from Britain) that immigrated there for the silver mining boom. There are tons of British restaurants in that village, and there's even a graveyard for the british people that died there.
    In Chiapas, San Cristobal de las Casas, is a beautiful mountain town that has warm days but cool nights (they use wood to heat their homes). Nearby is the Cañón del Sumidero, which is the Grand Canyon of Mexico. And if you go south to the border, then you can hike across the border from Mexico to Guatalamea. You start at Córdova Matasanos, a small town with beautiful mountain views, hike thru more smaller beautful towns, then you cross the border by foot.

    Since you have a Canadian passport why haven't you used it to extend your stay when visiting Europe, Greek Islands? You're always facing the 90 days max stay issue. Can't you exit and enter back with a Canadian passport?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I didn't have the Canadian passport for the past twenty years, until I just renewed it. But unfortunately what you're suggesting isn't allowed. You could do it and would very likely get away with it as I understand, especially if you exited through some of the southern countries of Europe like Spain. But you would be taking a bit of a risk of getting caught and potentially fined or banned from visiting Europe.

    • @Dr.Mzungu
      @Dr.Mzungu 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GabrielTravelerVideosaccording to Google, even with both an American and Canadian passport, you can only stay in the Schengen area of Europe for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period, as both passports are subject to the same visa-free entry rules for the Schengen zone; to stay longer, you would need to apply for a long-stay visa from the relevant European country.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Exactly. The 90 day restriction is for you as a person, not the passport, so having multiple passports doesn't allow you to stay longer. But you would probably be able to get away with it if you tried. Problem is you're taking a risk and there are no guarantees. You could end up being asked questions about whether you're the same person who entered before with a different passport and then if you admit it was you there's a problem and if you lie it's a problem. I wouldn't want to be caught in that situation.

    • @maple_john
      @maple_john 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos You can use a visa waiver to stay in the EU 3-6 monthers longer than the Schengen visa (depending on the country). A visa waiver means you enter an EU country by using their visa vs the Schengen visa. Most EU countries have visa waiver agreements with most Western countries like US, Canada, Austrlia, etc. When you enter a EU country on a visa waiver, you are supposed to stay in that country for the duration of your stay. But of course, if that country is in the Schengen visa, then you have free movement ;)

    I have four passports. I was born with entitlement to three - Canadian, British and Irish - and have now applied for and received them all. The fourth I acquired when I naturalized in the US:
    The rule is you should always enter a country of which you are a citizen with that country’s passport. So I use the US passport to enter the US, the Canadian to enter Canada etc.
    For general travel to everywhere else, I go Irish!

    Gabriel, good to see you, and so glad to see you enjoying the warmth of Mexico again. My dad hails from the state of Jalisco where you are right now. You've covered most of Mexico pretty well, and maybe you've seen El Sumidero and what Chiapas has to offer, but to get really exotic, perhaps you'd like to try Cuatro Ciénegas (the Four Marshes) in the state of Coahuila. Yes, it's a hike north from where you are, but I think that it is unlike anything you may have experienced. It is a largely undiscovered set of unique ecosystems that few travelers have the privilege to enjoy. If you would be interested, you could tool up from Guadalajara on those comfy buses. In the meantime, enjoy the local cuisine as you move about! Cheers!

    Gabriel: good to see you are now traveling in a warmer climate. Be safe and have fun. If you are not already aware, order extra pages for your US passport when it is renewed. I travel often too and have had to replace full passports before the 10 year expiry date. The extra pages and the scans vs stamping with some ports of entry helps.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos

      @@GabrielTravelerVideosmy passport is year 7 and it may have changed, in the meantime. However, this is the latest:
      To get extra pages for your US passport, you can follow these steps:
      You cannot add visa pages to a current passport book. If you need more pages, you must renew your passport book.
      On your passport form, select the option for a "large book" to get a passport book with extra visa pages.
      The cost for passport renewal is $130.
      If you need extra passport pages faster, you can expedite your application through a US Passport Agency or use a private expediting service.
      Only one set of extra pages (24 pages) can be added at a time, and you can have up to three sets inserted into your passport1234.

Not only you're one of the best travel vloggers in the world in my opinion, I also find your character to be admirable in its true sense. Please disregard some of the silly comments about the existing or even the potential upcoming prime minister from the supporters/haters...the more significant point should be to uphold the VALUES Canada must continue to strive for and In my view, I see many of those values in you than most people that I know of. Some Mexico suggestions.
    Mazatlan, beach town that doesn't really cater to US citizen, bus ride from Vallarta plus you can take a ferry across the Gulf of California to Baja(La Paz)from Mazatlan.
    Bacalar, the new hot spot in Mexico due to the fresh water lagoon there and can day trip to Belize. New aiport opened in Tulum to make getting there easier.
    Monterrey, the silicon valley of Mexico. The Old town is full of shops and restaurants. Museums galore.

    First started following you when you were last in Mexico! I’ve been to PV twice and plan to move to MX in 2025. Btw I think you can just ask for more pages for your US passport. I vote for Yelapa- such a pretty town and beautiful scenery.

    I'm from Alberta. I've been to Mexico many times both backpacker style staying in hostels and also on all inclusive resort trips. My favourite area is easily Puerto Escondido and it's charming surrounding beach villages. Puerto Vallarta is not even close in comparison. The beaches and ocean swimming are soooo much betting in PE. I found the beaches in PV to be not as nice. Too cold, the water wasn't as nice, no waves. PE the waves are massive, the water the warm, there are sexy surfer guys and girls everywhere (primarily in La Punta). I can't recommend it enough

    Thank you for this video. Puerta Vallarta is a nice town with sand beaches and resort atmosphere. I am pleasantly surprised. Mexico is a land of Pre-Columbian culture and there are a lot of archeological sites. I remember a Bulgarian pop song praising the city of Tampico on the Mexican Gulf. U.S. consulates used to add an accordion fold of extra blank pages to the last page of your passport when it got full. Might ask if they still do that as they did it on the spot. No need to wait for an entirely new document.
