I think everyone can agree on the fact that we don't need these new "disposable/ reusable" cameras with fixed shutter, aperture & focus that breaks on the 3rd or 4th roll. Amongst other wishes for a new film 📸, I wish Pentax releases another Half frame model which is more premium than the 17. Some wishes for it to have are: - Autofocus with manual override for infinity & macro - Self timer - 30mm lens which will translate into a 45mm FOV - F/2.8 aperture - F/22 aperture - 1/1000 shutter speed - Aperture priority mode (with the aperture control on the ring around the lens, so that the user can see through the viewfinder which aperture is selected, just like the zone focus is visible on the 17) - Weather sealing - Small LCD panel inside the viewfinder that displays the shutter speed & Autofocus confirmation - Rechargeable lithium battery Things like manual film loading, advancing & rewind; Analog frame counter; exposure compensation dial; centrally placed OVF; ability to put filter on the lens, etc should be continued on this new premium half frame. Whatever negative stuffs people say about half frame, it's popular and in way in this digital age, it makes sense. I notice that many people don't take the concept of a frame seriously while being photographed: They are very casual & always want another shot taken, while in reality a full frame is a very precious frame for the photographer. This is just one instance amongst others while half frame makes a lot of sense for non professionals who enjoy Analog photography. Remember Half frame film is the same size as Digital Apsc!!
Regarding the premium 35mm compact P&S camera trends, I don't think there's enough context being provided. IMO from what I see, most people wouldn't be so hesitant to shell out the $1000+ for a premium 35mm compact P&S if repairability/longevity was more guaranteed/warrantees existed, etc. All these cameras are 25+ years old now and enough people have been bricked by these cameras that word has spread to tread lightly which has obviously quelled interest and demand, and it's gone to other places like SLRs. The fact that there's even still a market AT ALL for these risky, unrepairable 25+ year old $1000+ P&Ss signals there's an underserved market here. Lots of people are just waiting for a new, warranty-backed name brand premium 35mm compact P&S to come out but the market keeps giving other stuff.

I'm willing to pay more if they build these camera with integrity and material as in the old days., not with the cheap materials they use today.
I would LOVE to see a 120 rangefinder with a fixed 35mm ff equivalent lens and center weighted metering 😅
Who's the next brand that is gonna accept the challenge ?
