Amazing! I've had this idea since I was a kid. I've carved some lures out of wood but never completed a single "toothbrush" lure. I still have tons of used toothbrushes, pieces of broom handles, wire, metal blades, foil, feathers and hair, and many other "lure build project" materials pilled up in a drawer and boxes just in case the Sun and the moon align for me to make lures again. I noticed you used the RAPALA style/design using the inner wire. I always gravitated to screw eyes (which were difficult to get in my area) I am learning more about using wire for making hardware lately. Thanks for sharing a great and inspiring video .
The one advantage of a homemade lure is that you can make a lure to look like, and behave like exactly what you want. For example you can make it to a specific size, you can use a diving bib of the size you want to have an intense action, or a subtle action. You can colour it any way you want, you can even wrap aluminium wire around it to make it have metallic bands to make it catch the attention more of fish, you can put small feathers on the hooks etc. Essentially you can try to simulate the local food supply of the fish in your area more, if you make the lure yourself. I made one of these with a brown toothbrush, I cut it only 5cm long. I used a lighter to heat up a nail and made two trenches around it, like bands, which I then wrapped some aluminum wire into, to make it look like it has stripes and has some reflective ability, plus to add some weight so it sinks a bit. Since mine is a smaller lure, I decided to make it more simple and just have a treble hook at the back, not one at the bottom. I wrapped some small feathers onto the treble hook to make it resemble a tail fish. And then I superglued on two eyes, as well as made a small curved bib and glued that in. This suits my purposes. It sinks, but not rapidly, the bib has only a gradual dive, it means it generally operates only around 50cm below the water, which is what I needed. It also is the exact size I needed, plus the action on it isn't exaggerated, it's just a subtle sway, which makes it realistic, plus it's colours resemble local fish in my area. I have caught on mine so far, 3 fish, it indeed works better than the store bought lures I have.

Среднее кольцо на один оборот можно было и провернуть, вычесанную и очищенную вату для вэйпа использовать в качестве набивки - нублявычё... Индонезия зажигает ) А так да - Супер! Спасибо за несколько идей! И еще, канавку на брюшке делал широкой (надфилем) и заполнял потом эпоксидкой или с блестками, или подкрашенной чем угодно хоть пастой с ампулы. Брюшко ведь )))
