I have put Andrews cams in my 14 chief vintage, the idle speed now requires to be lifted to between 950--1050 rpm, dose anyone know how to do this?? the dealer is informing me it can't be changed from the stock idle speed which is 750--850 rpm Any assistance will be appreciated.
Hi BA, I would imagine it could be done with your Power Commander module; however I am not positive. I have the Power Vision CX (also made by DynoJet) and can adjust the idle speed. I don't have the Andrews cams but do have the Indian Stage 2 cams. I wanted to keep the idle low because it sounds so good with those large cam lobes. However, I do know that some folks with upgraded cams have struggled with the engine cutting off on take off from idle or when blipping the throttle. A quick increase to the idle speed has fixed this issue. Hope this helps -
Only thing I think about is how much noise it produces after the cams. Also the engine with the stock cams runs butter smooth. How's it feel after the cams? I know after I did the cams on my hd it got pretty loud up top.
HI Phil, the sound produced from the cam install is nice not to ridiculously load mates of mine have said the sound is a very deep rumble they love it. The bike engine runs at idle as smooth as the stock cams.
Love your Chief. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Thanks mate hope you can do the cams on your bike, I reckon its great.
I had the Indian Cams and Freedom Performance Shark Tail True Duel exhaust installed on my 2016 Chief Vintage. She is loud and proud now.
You can watch a video of my Chief Vintage on my youtube channel.
