So funny. No one is making comments on the most important thing this investor said. "I dont recommend investing in Canada..." that one line says all you need to know and why we are in trouble.

I liked Canadian Tire when I was younger. Sale prices were actually good value and employees didn't follow you around the store. I avoid the store now.

I bought 2 bicycles here a few years ago. I went and took my bike for a check as it was producing a weird sound. The person at the customer desk treated me like they were doing me a favor. 2 years ago, I returned a 30$ item and I was treated like a criminal during the entire process. customer service lady was yelling and having a lot of side comments. It's not really something I want to experience again. After these shitty experience, I never went back again.

I had to stop buying Garbage bags from Canadian Tire . So thin pop cans would tear them open . Its unfortunate, but all of their stuff is like that . They are like Sears , they really lost their way .

I don't think they even try to source any of their products anywhere but from China. They should just rename to Chinese Tire, would be more relevant to their business.

No analysis is needed as it actually quite simple and explainable. After the middle class earners pay for their accommodations, their food and their energy costs they have nothing left in their bank accounts. Its that simple.

Canada is not growing it's economy is the right direction. Government invests in yesterday industry like ship building (now an extension of the civil service as no one but the Canadian Government will buy such over priced ships). Where is the robotics industry? Where is the computer chip industry? Where is this the long gone communication and technology industry? What happened to our high tech military industry of the post war period? This is where high wealth is to be created. It takes a strong Canadian dollar to buy the equipment to build this industry and to pay the people who work in it. Software engineers earn multiple times more in the US than in Canada and they are paid in US dollars worth 35% to 40% more.
Change your way of thinking and focus on an economy that pays well, uses state of the art technology, and creates a high value Canadian dollar. Stop subsidizing our outdated businesses with a cheap Canadian dollar as it insults us that we are valued so little.
Governments need to create a tax and business culture that makes us want to drop our mindless jobs and become entrepreneurs.

Why are the Feds wasting time trying to lure another International Grocer? Just make Canadian Tire sell groceries with its existing products like Walmart. No partnership with Sobeys like last time be your own stand alone brand and distributor.
