    I will admit that I do not watch recipes on this channel. Though I found you by searching for how to make soap. I stayed because I enjoyed listening to your lives. Hearing you talk about frugal topics has helped me stay on track and achieve my financial goals. You may feel like you repeat topics, but it helps to hear the same thing over & over.

    The other day too I didn't want to do much bit saw a sale for 1 Liter of heavy cream for 2.00 usually they're 6.00 a container. So I bought 11 of them and made butter, sour cream, ice cream and some cream ice cubes to put them into coffee for creamer.

    I don't like dark meat, but my husband does. When I see a good price on the 10 pound bags, I buy. When I get them home I freeze them 2-3 to a bag. Then when I cook a whole chicken I add them and so end up with a lot of dark meat for my husband and he loves to take it for sandwiches. Beats cold cut prices by a ton!

    A good tip I found about the cheaper chicken quarters recently was to use kitchen scissors (or a knife) to cut all of the extra fat and skin off before using them. I have been much happier with my finished meals since starting to do this. There are several videos on TH-cam showing how to do this but it’s very quick and simple.

I have learned some things from y'all and remember when I was taught a lot by my parents. I no longer can garden or can and make jelly but I find ways to get what I need and want and sometimes you do have to sacrifice for other things and I hear you loud and clear that people you need to be willing to give up some things to accomplish other goals and needs and have to do or gets we all face.
    I do appreciate y'all even if I don't agree with a lot of rants lol but it's your channel and I know I can fast forward or change it and can't figure out why so many other mean people can't . No need for them to be rude. What is it with some people today.

    I have a family member planning to move in with us this coming week. I filled my Walmart cart to do a grocery pickup. When I finished my list, it was almost $300. I started deleting the junk food and sodas and checked out at $250 for a month for 3 people. Probably could be less if I had gone to different stores instead of just Walmart. We love to snack, so it will be a challenge not having any. Love you and your family. Thanks for what you do.🙂

    We have not shopped at just one store since forever. Since June '22, we have put an emphasis on stopping at stores with loss leaders, sales, speciality, and generally cheaper per unit product categories on the way home from trips out of our general area. Visiting these stores would be cost prohibitive if we were destination shopping from home unless making mega hauls.

  • @terryhenderson424
    @terryhenderson424 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    In this area, if you run out of money for groceries you can turn to a food bank or food pantry; even if you're working. Many households have some food of some type on the shelf. Type your ingredients into Google with the word recipie such as "rice recipies" but do this also with the more obscure things like "water chestnut recipies". Drag out those cookbooks and look on line for basic foods from scratch. Begin a grocery list of basic foods and ingredients for when there is money to buy. Give yourself a challenge of no prepared beverages from soda to juice, no chips nor snack crackers, no cookies and even healthy bars, etc... for at least one grocery trip.

    In our little town we have one small local market (Mack's Market) and a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree combo store. We have to drive 50+ miles to a larger town that has a Walmart and a Smiths grocery store. We shop once a month when we get our SS checks, so sometimes it makes it hard to get in on the sales.

    The snap/ food stamps are also for foster children and buying them a treat or two or birthday treats seems reasonable. But teaching them, and your family to eat whole nutritious foods, cooked at home is very important.
    If more people planned, learned to cook and fed their family at home, from home we would be much better off.
    I also add a couple of " convienence foods "( chicken tenders, canned tuna, premade tortillas etc) and that saves us on the super stressful or unplanned emergencies at dinner time. But having some lettuce , dressing and protein can make dinner quick too

    Hadn’t picked apples in decades, but saw the deer eating the drops from a neighbors tree so I asked them if they minded if I took a few. They said PLEASE come take them all as they hate apples and the deer were drawn to the apples and stayed to eat everything in their yard. Their tree was laden with apples! I froze some then canned applesauce, apple butter, and apple pie filling. I tried to gift them some of everything I put up, but they turned it all down except for a couple plates of apple fritters and an apple cake, so we enjoyed the bounty ourselves!

    And also for sandwiches why is it that Americans put sooo much hams and cold cut meat? Here in Europe we only put one slice of ham but my mother in law uses half a slice of ham and half a slice of cheese. She eats oatmeal every morning with her wild blue berries that she picks in the summer to last a year. Also, they don’t use mayonnaise on their sandwiches always butter and they fill it with vegetables, cucumbers and bell peppers. Instead of chips she used to only make popcorns for the kids and homemade pizzas. Way healthier and saves money.

    a really nice creamy soup, using a whole cooked cauliflower, does really nice with chicken broth base and add at the end about a cup of with real 100% cream, (not the heavy whipping cream that has additives though,) & i use whole milk plain yogurt as it will not impact lactose at all. Season Salt or just season the soup salt, garlic, onion and pepper. Walmart sells 64oz size at a great price here. I do like to add sharp cheddar to the top.

      If you know someone in the USA, talk to them about having the books sent to them, then pay the second shipping cost to mail to yoi.

    I've picked apples on and off most of my life. Consider screwing up your courage and knocking on a door where you see full,apple trees and especially apples on the ground. When weve done this, we've offered to split what ever we've picked 50-50. Windfalls on the ground? Never had anyone take me up on the 50-50 offer yet. Evrry bit of free, usable apple windfall is Apple ypundont have to pay for. - I've never done apple or other fruit tree u- pick.

    Had a squirrel that would throw the apples down on our hedgehog. Had to hire two men to carry him out of my yard in a trap. He weighed 45 pounds

      @brendaatry428 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KC-js5ut no, carry out the hedgehog. They were a team. The squirrel in the tree through the apples down on the ground and then they both feasted.
