I Darkside my GL1800 and run it fast and hard (redlining the shifts too). Started with 41 PSI, but found that was way too high. Now run 32-33 cold and I get a better ride and more even wear. 41 was wearing the center patch too much.

I know we all have opinions on brands and tires are not an exception. I am not fond of Yokohama but there are plenty of things I am not fond of. My review of them was they were not fit for a tire swing, with that said, the tires I have on my V rod are not loved by everyone. The funny part is what I did not like about them might make them good for a darkside tire.
I have known _one_ person that had put a CT on his bike and then went back to a motorcycle tire. But he was well to do and every 5,000 miles he took his Triumph Rocket III to the dealer for service and had new tires put on every time. Millionaire he was.

Eh, you're probably right but it also probably made the cornering behavior feel closer to the characteristics of an actual motorcycle tire due to the slight rounding that would cause. Still a great amount of miles to get out of a tire.
About time 20k in 2 years here I thought you was biker lol. Weput car tire on wife's spyder got same mileage with car tire as the spyder tires . Guess cause it so wide maybe. Is there going be a orphan Run next year?
If I could be just half the biker you and your wife are I’d be doing OK. Yes orphan Ron will be first weekend in April 2023. Hope you’re doing well my friend
I like that people scoff at Darksided bikes. You do you and I'll do me and save money. Most people don't use their MC tires to their potential anyways. Waste of money. I have a second wheel with a MC tire for incase i want to really burn up the twisties but it just collects dust.
Oh yeah definitely get the haters and I will just say 2 weeks ago I rode the twisties in the mountains of WV and didn’t have a issue nor did I go off the side of the mountain in a fireball. It did just fine.
The easiest place to get that info is on a Facebook group called roll’n darkside. There used to be a conversion chart on a website but that website has since shutdown and that is gone now. That’s about the best resource I know of. Go to that page and search your bike in the search field and see what pops up
So, you are saying that the increased price of MC tires mean they are better quality? Or could it be that fewer are made because of the lower number manufactured? Millions of motorcycles need tires while a gozillion or more are needed for cars....
I need some advice. I am thinking about going darkside too, but I want to go extreme! What do you think about going with a studded winter tire? Any thoughts? Honest question.
My man that’s a question I never thought of. I guess my question back would be why? Personally I like the all season tires. They shed water the best IMO
@@YogisCycleService I run studded winter tires on my van. As a matter of fact, I ran then all summer. I mostly rode my bike so I didn't bother swapping to summer tires. Bottom line, the studs help them last longer, but I know winter tires are not meant for warm weather and that may be a safety issue, or maybe it will actually be better. Idk
@@YogisCycleService lol ok. I tend to get up in the triple digits and about to go DS this week. Just want to make sure it isn't any more wobbly than what I have now. Even with the bike tire I get a bit of a shimmy.
@@YogisCycleService Thank you I was not being critical at all. MY Point is that the tire needed to be replace REGARDLESS of the trip. Thank you for the vidio it was informative and well done.
Just a question. It looked to me that the center of the tire was worn much more than the edges. On a car that would indicate over inflation. Does that apply on the dark side?
@@supermankent1041 from what everyone is telling me yes. I ran it about 41 psi and honestly I liked it at that spot. So, if I get a few thousand less but love the ride then you t is what it is. It still got me over 20,000 miles. My Michelin commander 2 got over 20,000 miles also. Another great tire.
I guess you need to go back and watch his earlier video, where he shows via a camera why he doesn't feel it's "wrong". I'd ask why you're even watching a Darksider video if it wasn't for you explaining that you were watching to see one of us come around to the "right" side you're on. It must be terrible to try to find someone who burned through a full tire via darksiding and then switched back and scored the concept. I'm sure there are some. Go watch Ryan F9's video. He isn't a convert, but at least he ends with the lesson you SHOULD have learned, which is that it's not necessarily better or worse. Just more controversial and different . . . like even riding a motorcycle in the first place is.
I went darkside this year and love it. Great video Yogi
That tire has more tread than the last set of NEW tires I put on my van! As a famous president would say....."Not uh lie..."

Since is a single tire, would the performance be better if it was a directional tread?
