This turned out so great. I love doing paintings in one color, even florals in a monotone. Gouache lays on top of the paper and feels chalky when dry. I find layers a bit difficult because the bottom layer seems to reconstitute quickly. I love this photo. It reminds me of the old black and white movies............ spooky. I think those 'rods' were for flags. Flags were used to signal different messages or events.
Anyone else think or get the vibe of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark art? Just me? I just read Dracula, by Bram Stoker, for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and this is *kinda* how Dracula’s is described.😃😃😃🧛🏻♂️

PS Keenan, moats were also used as a place for the servants to dump the chamber pots, and, the nasty part? The more the better, because it would deter people from wanting to go into the “water”. True story.🤢
