You accurately summed up how many of us feel about Plunderstorm. The mount alone is something that will bring many in but we absolutely hate the PVP aspect. Many of us have physical limitations and just can not compete in any way with PVP. If the would have made a PVE mode, it would have gone over much better. I am doing the die by the storm method. I try to get at least 500 coin per round then go off into the storm.
I haven't even looked at the rewards. If it's PvP I'm not going to do it, period. I'm too old to waste my time grinding something I absolutely hate just for some pixels. But I'm very disappointed that something they hyped so hard turned out to be something that isn't enjoyable for all players.
I've gotten 27 renown and I've pvp'd one round. Should be done next week and I can make a Tazavesh meme macro with my Evoker. "Our captain's a dragon!?"
Another thing to remember with Trial of Style is that all transmogs are free during the event. So if you like to have your alts looking sharp have at it.

I feel like I could see myself playing it once in awhile... except that being a limited time event with such a huge grind attached means that I'm already burned out on it. It could be a fun once in awhile silly mode, but instead it's turning into "oh gods I have to keep doing this crap". Nice 'mog stuff tho
I just got renown 40 and I was purely "Die in the storm crew" It's my plunder I'm taking it into to the storm so no one can have it. Now that I'm done I'll never play it again.
I got to renown 3 and had to stop. It was too much of a chore for me and I hated every moment. I'm a bit of a masochist but not enough for this mode. I'm just hoping the cooler items come to the trader.
I was looking forward to the patch for new content and don't think Plunderstorm fits that. If they just released it out of the blue as bonus content without the rewards and limited time I think people would have a better opinion of it. Having a mystery patch looming which is going to get people excited and expecting wow content was a mistake.
The event is awesome and the game mode is a lot of fun. Give it a couple of games, It's actually really well made. "The grind" is not that bad either I was playing for about 8 hours today and I got from 16 to 40 in that time. Obviously not everyone can play for 8 hours a day but you should be able to fit in 8 hours in at least 2 weeks.
@@tiyangina3571 As far as I know a patch like this has never happened. Generally when there is a patch its always in game content. The fact that they were teasing it with the pirate flag since blizzcon and saying its a mystery got peoples expectations up. I get that its bonus but my problem is the way they handled it. Either dont announce it beforehand that we get a patch without wow content or announce it and say its going to be this separate battle royale mode so people know not to expect anything. Since the patch was announced last week to be coming out I was hyped and looking forward to it. Then since the announcement videos on Tuesday I have barely played wow this week. A lot of people want new content or season 4 to start already.

Blunderstorm for me, but only barely. I hate pvp in general, so… It’s not bad, but it definitely feels more like a scrapped idea Bliz picked up & slapped wow assets onto. I don’t hate it, but I’ll be happy to have it in my rearview once I reach 40.
I hate plunderstorm... highest i got was 2nd place and still hate it. The thing is, if they didn't put the rewards behind such a long grind, i might have actually popped in just for fun once in a while. Imagine if people had to play 50+ hours of Heroes of the Storm or Hearthstone to earn the mounts. People complained about the play 3 matches quest for the mount in HotS, which could be done in 30 minutes vs A.I.
I actually kinda like Plunderstorm even though I'm not into battle royales, but I definitely agree that the grind is uncomfortably long. I am not liking the trends of having to do things on other games to earn stuff in this game, and even worse when it is not even gaming and requires subscriptions to Amazon or Twitch...
It makes me irrationally angry that Plunder Storm introduced the first pirate themed dragon riding mount and it wasn’t the pirate dragon from Tazavesh.
While I think we should get that mount I don't think that plunderstorm is the way to do it. Imagine if it was the final reward of this event. It would require the playerbase to grind a pvp game that most will not enjoy in the first place. It would only be available for a limited time and it was a dungeon character made for pve content. I can imagine the uproar on the forums if this was the case.
I don't love playing plunderstorm, I only do it for the rewards. Highest I've gotten is #2 in solos. But I absolutely ADORE watching streamers play it. There have been so many incredible moments, and because the gamemode is no addons, only a few buttons, it's accessible to me too. I can't really watch and appreciate arena content and I've only recently been good enough to enjoy MDI. But plunderstorm immediately gripped me because anyone can understand the plays being made. So overall I'm really glad it exists, even though I don't personally like to play it muhc.
The problem was that we all assumed it would be an event implemented into both Wrath Classic and Retail. I feel like they should've been up front on it being a new game mode completely. They could've kept the nature of said new mode secret. I was hoping for a pirate questline 😅
9:00 Yeah, especially if our pets witness it, they seem to get used to "cosmetic" changes like that pretty quick. I mean, it's not any crazier than us swapping out half of our "coat of fur"-equivalent every few hours!
I had absolutely everything completed for all DF meta achievements apart from the new time gated one they put in (presumably to give them time to actually bother putting the reward mounts in the game as I've not been awarded anything so far).
Season 3 is sorely missing the kind of gear catch-ups that Seasons 1 and 2 brought in with Forbidden Reach and Dreamsurges. This makes me feel especially bitter that the surprise event ended up having nothing to do with the main WoW game. It should have been advertised as a PvP event (rather than WoW 10.2.6 patch content), and the rewards should have been contained to Plunderstorm rather than all being contained within the main WoW game.
The Queue time is instant for now, I HIGHLY doubt anyone will play this after being done with the renown. I know I will not, I only play it because I know the rewards will be coming to the Trading Post or Store.
All I can say about Plunderstorm is don't give up! I know it's frustrating and other players going out of their way to kill you is infuriating. But if you stick with it and just focus on one renown at a time, you will arrive at 40. I did it, and I guarantee you that no one in this world sucks more at pvp than I do. Never once did I try to pvp during this, and I still got the 40. It is doable!
Omg dude I was SO salty over Plunderstorm when it started and was more than a little vocal about it around the interwebs. Now I'm enjoying it lmao. I really intensely disliked the fact that they basically just tacked an entirely separate game on the the login, and one that I was apparently terrible at lol. Then I watched a couple of videos and found all I had to do was the quest and whatever loot was easy, that plus the recalibrated gains made the progession much less painful, and I'm actually liking climbing the reward ladder, if not quite so much the actual gameplay.
Plunderstorm : crash on elite, do quest. Then go all in on the golden mob,die and repeat. Lvl 10 in 2 days, so my goal is 5 lvl everyday. Hit 40 and never return to this mode.
@@andrewwaters2498 It's not idiotic to kill someone at start, to get the area to yourself only. Can easily get to lev7 if you're alone in an area. More plunder! However if you use your item to roll out, and they use theirs too, to displace themselves to chase you, then they are indeed idiots! That tends to be how I miss doing the quest.
Actually it’s better to crash on a normal mob near the elite. Crashing a normal mob still guarantees an ability. Grab it then kill the elite for another ability
Blunderstorm...sorry...getting 50ish renown for each match is absolutely ridiculous!! I've played like 30 or 40 matches and am at renown 2. Sorry...I'll wait for the recolors to come to the shop or the trading post.
I also hate this event but am grinding it for the rewards. Plunder is directly linked to renown. So if you do the quest e.g. kill 2 elites, collect 2 items, you get 250 plunder which equals 250 renown.
@@nymeroe I appreciate that. The problem is that in 5 matches this morning, I haven't been able to complete the captain's quest, thus I can't seem to get the 800 plunder. People are just to aggressive and the game mode is setting me up for failure. If this is what the WoW devs think is fun, then maybe this isn't the game for me anymore
A couple of tips that have helped me farm ~6-7k reknown (2.5 levels)/hour: dive bomb straight down on entry, preferably onto margin of map. Actively avoid any other player- less than 1 in 10 times I can't and get killed, but usually I can get the quest done, end match ASAP, and pull 3-700 reknown per match, and turn the matches over in 4 minutes ea. Good luck!❤
You are definitely doing something wrong. I'm a pre bad player but I still get 500-2000 plunder each match by killing mobs and doing the quest. Just walk away from players when you see them, stay zoomed out and keep looking.

I have ATT, but I don't get the little check. I have to mouse over to check the tooltip. However, your comment did make me go over ATT's settings again and I found on the front page of ATT settings a shoutout to the devs of other addons, CanIMogIt and Caerdon Wardrobe. Those two addons will add icons. I downloaded CanIMogIt and got what I was after.
Saw someone with the parrot mount on Friday I was like how the hell so fast. I haven’t even tried it yet but I definitely have fomo as a collector of mounts and mog especially when it’s limited time
Plunderstorm is okay, but today my experience was wildly different than other first days... Now pvp seems to have increased and the ones at the end of the match are all wearing red coats? Like how much did these people play? I would love to get the win for the achievement, but I cant. I keep getting 2nd place and turns out some abilities are in need of balance like the lava axe (cast time is too fast given the range and damage).
Nearly reached 14 yesterday (first time diving into the mode). It absolutely is a bit of a grind, but it's going fast enough. I am still deciding whether I will return after I get all the rewards.
My changing view of the game and strategy for getting plunder are the same as yours. I'm liking the mode a bit more eaxh day and once I finish the quest, it's off to find easy plunder or PVP blaze of glory time.
I actually love Plunderstorm. At this pace, Ive got 10% of 1 million under my belt (in my pocket? 😅) so that hidden achievement might be doable. Having a lot of fun with it!
I'm having a blast with Plunderstorm, even as someone who never played a battle royale before and never did arenas and rated BGs. The combat is so much slower pace that its easy to tell that I'm dying to and how to learn from it. I eventually improved enough to where I can now kill other players and win a few games. That was unexpected for me since my first couple games had me dead in the first couple minutes. This this might come as a shock for those of you who hate PvP but if you want to surive more than a minute in Plunderstorm, then you need to be better at PvE, not PvP. If you can kill mobs and level up faster than other players, then the PvE renown farmers will leave you alone because they don't want to mess with anyone, and the PvPers will leave you alone because they know it's inefficient to spend even one minute trying to kill you. Players that kill you in the first minute because they're a higher level didn't get to a higher level by killing other players; it's because they kill mobs faster. Once you realize that a majority of the players in each lobby are just like you, i.e. they hate PvP, then you'll have the advantage. I can't even count the number of times I've had people run away from me just because I'm a higher level, even though I have no intention to fight them. And if a PvP player tries to get the jump on me, I just have to put up just a little bit of resistance for them to realize that it's not worth the time or risk to fight me and they'll back off.
As I'm 36/40 now I'm feeling better about it. Mainly cause I've almost done what I need for the mog. I'm such that if someone puts a time limit on a pvp thing it stresses me out. Once I hit 40 I'll not be crazy putting 4 hours after work and all day Saturday on this fluff.

Exactly that: It is fomo-PvP and they dangled the biggest possible carrot (awesome pirate transmog) in front of me an combined it with the most joyless (speaking only for myself) game-mode I could imagine. I tried every form of PvP in WoW and I know one thing: I suck at any sort of PvP. However I occasionally dipped into PvP mostly it was required for some meta achievements. Never been happy with it but at least managed to get it done quite quickly. However of all sorts of PvP Plunderstorm is probably the version I suck at most. I still try to get it done because of the Transmog (I am kinda obsessed with everything Pirates) but it is not growing on me and will probably be the most joyless grind in the whole game for the last 25 years (and I did the Timbermaw reputation-grind). If they increased the reputation gain maybe I will pull through and I really hope so because much more annoying than doing this joyless and humiliating grind for 60 days would be to do this and not even get the reward.
Nobody could be already done with the DF meta because there's a new quest achi with the Fringe dailies that doesn't track your already done ones. So you need at least 7 days to do that (that's where I'm at, then I'll have the meta done). Also, most if not all the mounts & dragon skins tied to the meta are bugged. For example, the bestowed mounts don't show up in the catalogue. The black nether drake skin doesn't show up either etc. All the things they added are pretty much bugged.
I feel like most people hating on the mode haven't tried to duo with a friend. I started playing it with my friends and thought it was a lot of fun, but then later I tried to solo queue and it did feel miserable. Give it a chance with a guildie on comms and see how you like it, it's a different game.
At the end of the day, I'm paying to enjoy the game and have a good time -- while the cosmetics are cool, they're just not cool enough for me to torture myself doing this event. It sucks, but it is what it is. I am glad that they are trying different things, though. I just hope that next time it's something that I like!

I HAAAATTTEEE Plunderstorm. I'm not good at PVP of any sort so this has me bashing my head against the wall. On repeat. So much that I get so frustrated that I just turn the entire game off because I don't have the energy to play actual WoW. I'm almost at 10 and 40 seems so far away. I am happy about the new Meta though. That at least gives me something to do that makes my collector heart happy.
I wonder if the results of plunderstorm will give them the info they are looking for. It is obvious this is consumer testing to see if a new game like this is viable. It is definitely a niche game though. People hate or are ok with it.
Being a collector of sorts, achs and otherwise, tends to automatically get you meta achs. I was missing one ach from SL one when it was announced, and now again only missing dragon quests, the one that supposedly wasn't possible to achieve previous to 10.2.6. Reading how people generally miss a lot made me realize how collecting everything isn't the norm for wow players lol
I feel stupid about the meta acheivement. I kind of knew that the Forbidden Reach and Zaralek Caverns metas would be part of it when it would arrive but did I do them when the zones were current? Ooh nooo! Of course not! XD
When in Plunderstorm you run around and come across PVP areas. The fog should push everyone towards a PVP and allow players to PVE for a while before pushing players to fight. BTW dogs are colour blind so might not look a lot different.
I started plunderstorm the same way, the PVP annoyed me, but then I started to focus on the pve aspect of it, I started going to the outside, riding the storm and I found by focusing pve, once there was about 20 people left I was 2-3 levels higher then most and I already had a lot of plunder so even if I lost at 20 or lower still was okay with that.
If only Blizz would either prevent premades from joining or group them with other premades for Trial of Style, otherwise there is no point as a solo player going into one that is 3+ guildies who will just win trade.
I'm so frustrated they added all these meta achievements with mounts attached... And didn't add the mounts into the game at all! I haven't seen anyone mention it, either, besides just other players (like no word from blue posts/devs or WoWhead) so it just seems really broken to me. Right now all the hotfixes seem to be Plunderstorm related while I'm sitting here like 'hey... hey guys... I think you... Uh I think you forgot the uh... the mounts...? ;-;' Specifically: Back from the Beyond and Que Zara(lek) mounts WORK FOR SURE. World Awoken I think works, since Taivan is in the mount journal. Into the Storm, along with all the zone metas that were added (ie Bestowed mounts) have mounts attached but don't show in the mount journal whatsoever. I have two of the zone metas, but no mount reward, despite it saying I should Another frustrating bit (at least to me) is that, if you got any of the new meta achievements on 10.2.6 launch, they don't appear on that day for earning it. They, instead, seemingly pick a random achievement and copy that date for completion. It's super bizarre, because I have achievements in the meta I completed later than what the meta says I achieved it on. I like to track my progress via an addon calendar (from Krowi's achievement addon) but those ones basically being thrown to the wind really threw me off :S I just wish we'd get a blue post with 'we're working on it' and I'd be satisfied lol ;-;
Ive played this before hotfix and still cannot tell that there was a increase. I have never been a fan of pvp of any sort. I was honestly hoping for a pirate voyage to the other side of Azeroth with a quick peak of what might be to come at some later point. I guess to each their own. Also how are people earning reknowns so quickly.
Agreed, but as I've pointed out to people, we already had a pirate themed expansion, it was called "Battle For Azeroth"... and look how that turned out.

I absolutely hate plunderstorm and I feel forced to play for the cosmetics, especially thst parrot. I'm hating logging into the game but I feel like I have to so I don't regret it in the future when I see people using the mount.
I wish they would fix all the new mount awarding achievements. Why add them if you haven't added the mounts to the game? I'm still working on them, but not bothering to finish them until they actually ward the mounts.
yeah i hate the fomo aspect of it. the cosmetics work with my rogue so i really want them but it feels like you gotta focus on it just so you dobt miss out. sucks
In the same boat of hating plunderstorm at first go. It drops you into a new game mode with assets you're familiar with, but everything is out of place. It took me a few matches before realizing you could rebind the keys and searching for the autorun toggle. The "drop" at the start doesn't feel good because it's reminiscent of the stupid hypogryph flapping quests and how awkward that mechanic felt (especially after how fluid dragonriding feels now, vehicle movement of the past is so clunky). As a non PVPer, the anxiety of being chased and dying over and over again is never fun and not how i'd like to spend my time hunting for cosmetics.

It's been wild to me to see a lot of the entitlement from the PvE collectors. I think you were spot-on about expectations and it's very valid to feel upset and misled with Blizzard's handling of the game mode. But setting that aside, considering how excruciatingly limited all PvP content in WoW's entire 18+ years of development have been, it stings to see the people that have had 99.99% of all of the mounts and titles and transmogs made for them and delivered in amazing zones and raids with great storytelling complaining about having to grind out a single renown level per day for 6 weeks. PvPers rarely get new BGs or Arenas, mounts and titles are reserved for 0.1% - 0.5% of the top players, and virtually none of the story is told through PvP despite faction conflict being core to the game's themes. From my point of view, it's easy to drop into Plunderstorm and PvE for the first few minutes and then pick a fight with the strongest looking player nearby or run into the storm a few times and get a rank of renown or two per hour. And when I tally up how many times I'm dying in Plunderstorm vs how many times I die wiping on raid progression nights, the numbers are very close. And 6-week grinds have been part of the game since Vanilla. I'm even doing some right now to collect stuff I missed from Shadowlands and WoD, and that's on top of all of the Dragonflight grinds! So the issue seems to be mostly that other players are doing the killing rather than a raid boss. And for that, the most heated and antagonistic rhetoric I've ever seen from the WoW community is spilling out everywhere. Even in the other comments under this video, the hate is flowing. The kicker is that they made a Gladiator mount that a tiny fraction of PvPers got a PvE completionist reward too with this same update! Imo, that's a bigger deal than PvEers having to play ~150-200 games to get the parrot mount. Some people put far more than 6 weeks of grinding into getting their glad mount, and now it's no longer exclusive. Worse, some people spent more than 6 weeks grinding and FAILED to get that glad mount, and now they have to see people that maybe have never touched PvP flying around on it, and if they want it they, as a PvPer, have to go grind tons of PvE content and achievements. The only thing that looks more unreasonable than the hostile collectors on social to me in all of this is Blizzard. These decisions had very predictable outcomes, and they went ahead with them anyhow.
I was prepared to hate Plunderstorm since I am anti-PvP but it's not too bad and occasionally fun. I still have not managed to kill a single person (when I'm attacked), but I have made a game of avoiding them :D
It's easy to get back into a new match, but it's painful to stay 1mn in game before being stomped. I'm terrible at this game, and it would be ok if you really were dispatched across the map, but half the time I drop and someone is near so the match doesn't last long... It was bad at start, it became ok, almost fun, but having done 6 matches in less than 15mn today, it became frustrating. Knowing this is the only thing that's new since quite some time, and probably for quite some time, this event is a miss IMO.
What I dont understand about plunderstorm is the aspect of the PVP, from the story side of things we all work under a captain so why are we in fighting for loot. Never made any sense, we should have just been a team and collect loot from horde and alliance like actual pirates.
I missed the first 2 days because I was out of town. I am up to rank 6. My best result was 2nd place and that was quite exciting, this Battle Royale is growing on me as well.

When you see yourself about to get ganked, walk into the storm.
Spite them.

but thats exactly what it was, bonus content. we dont get .6 patches anymore. not for the last 1ß0 years at least. the patch is therefore bonus

People complained about the play 3 matches quest for the mount in HotS, which could be done in 30 minutes vs A.I.
I actually kinda like Plunderstorm even though I'm not into battle royales, but I definitely agree that the grind is uncomfortably long. I am not liking the trends of having to do things on other games to earn stuff in this game, and even worse when it is not even gaming and requires subscriptions to Amazon or Twitch...
Then why play it? Sheesh. You reward nerds never quit complaining.

As a collector I'm not going to do it for fomo mount etc. Grinding it out in any form tells them 'more please'. Pass.
It makes me irrationally angry that Plunder Storm introduced the first pirate themed dragon riding mount and it wasn’t the pirate dragon from Tazavesh.
While I think we should get that mount I don't think that plunderstorm is the way to do it. Imagine if it was the final reward of this event. It would require the playerbase to grind a pvp game that most will not enjoy in the first place. It would only be available for a limited time and it was a dungeon character made for pve content. I can imagine the uproar on the forums if this was the case.
I don't love playing plunderstorm, I only do it for the rewards. Highest I've gotten is #2 in solos. But I absolutely ADORE watching streamers play it. There have been so many incredible moments, and because the gamemode is no addons, only a few buttons, it's accessible to me too. I can't really watch and appreciate arena content and I've only recently been good enough to enjoy MDI. But plunderstorm immediately gripped me because anyone can understand the plays being made. So overall I'm really glad it exists, even though I don't personally like to play it muhc.

The problem was that we all assumed it would be an event implemented into both Wrath Classic and Retail. I feel like they should've been up front on it being a new game mode completely. They could've kept the nature of said new mode secret. I was hoping for a pirate questline 😅

I had absolutely everything completed for all DF meta achievements apart from the new time gated one they put in (presumably to give them time to actually bother putting the reward mounts in the game as I've not been awarded anything so far).

Season 3 is sorely missing the kind of gear catch-ups that Seasons 1 and 2 brought in with Forbidden Reach and Dreamsurges. This makes me feel especially bitter that the surprise event ended up having nothing to do with the main WoW game. It should have been advertised as a PvP event (rather than WoW 10.2.6 patch content), and the rewards should have been contained to Plunderstorm rather than all being contained within the main WoW game.
The Queue time is instant for now, I HIGHLY doubt anyone will play this after being done with the renown. I know I will not, I only play it because I know the rewards will be coming to the Trading Post or Store.
All I can say about Plunderstorm is don't give up! I know it's frustrating and other players going out of their way to kill you is infuriating. But if you stick with it and just focus on one renown at a time, you will arrive at 40. I did it, and I guarantee you that no one in this world sucks more at pvp than I do. Never once did I try to pvp during this, and I still got the 40. It is doable!
Omg dude I was SO salty over Plunderstorm when it started and was more than a little vocal about it around the interwebs. Now I'm enjoying it lmao. I really intensely disliked the fact that they basically just tacked an entirely separate game on the the login, and one that I was apparently terrible at lol. Then I watched a couple of videos and found all I had to do was the quest and whatever loot was easy, that plus the recalibrated gains made the progession much less painful, and I'm actually liking climbing the reward ladder, if not quite so much the actual gameplay.
Plunderstorm : crash on elite, do quest. Then go all in on the golden mob,die and repeat. Lvl 10 in 2 days, so my goal is 5 lvl everyday. Hit 40 and never return to this mode.
hopefully they come will a full mode, Battle Royale Gladiator mounts for 1 % ranked players etc... cool skins and rewards for the good players
Do quest...that's the part that I can't seem to ever do. Every time I get near an elite some idiot kills me.

@@andrewwaters2498 It's not idiotic to kill someone at start, to get the area to yourself only. Can easily get to lev7 if you're alone in an area. More plunder!
However if you use your item to roll out, and they use theirs too, to displace themselves to chase you, then they are indeed idiots! That tends to be how I miss doing the quest.
Actually it’s better to crash on a normal mob near the elite. Crashing a normal mob still guarantees an ability. Grab it then kill the elite for another ability
Blunderstorm...sorry...getting 50ish renown for each match is absolutely ridiculous!! I've played like 30 or 40 matches and am at renown 2. Sorry...I'll wait for the recolors to come to the shop or the trading post.
I also hate this event but am grinding it for the rewards. Plunder is directly linked to renown. So if you do the quest e.g. kill 2 elites, collect 2 items, you get 250 plunder which equals 250 renown.
@@nymeroe I appreciate that. The problem is that in 5 matches this morning, I haven't been able to complete the captain's quest, thus I can't seem to get the 800 plunder. People are just to aggressive and the game mode is setting me up for failure. If this is what the WoW devs think is fun, then maybe this isn't the game for me anymore
A couple of tips that have helped me farm ~6-7k reknown (2.5 levels)/hour: dive bomb straight down on entry, preferably onto margin of map. Actively avoid any other player- less than 1 in 10 times I can't and get killed, but usually I can get the quest done, end match ASAP, and pull 3-700 reknown per match, and turn the matches over in 4 minutes ea. Good luck!❤
You are definitely doing something wrong. I'm a pre bad player but I still get 500-2000 plunder each match by killing mobs and doing the quest. Just walk away from players when you see them, stay zoomed out and keep looking.

I have ATT, but I don't get the little check. I have to mouse over to check the tooltip. However, your comment did make me go over ATT's settings again and I found on the front page of ATT settings a shoutout to the devs of other addons, CanIMogIt and Caerdon Wardrobe. Those two addons will add icons. I downloaded CanIMogIt and got what I was after.

Plunderstorm is okay, but today my experience was wildly different than other first days... Now pvp seems to have increased and the ones at the end of the match are all wearing red coats? Like how much did these people play?
I would love to get the win for the achievement, but I cant. I keep getting 2nd place and turns out some abilities are in need of balance like the lava axe (cast time is too fast given the range and damage).
A lot of ppl are joining solo matches and win trading with guildies or friends.
Nearly reached 14 yesterday (first time diving into the mode). It absolutely is a bit of a grind, but it's going fast enough. I am still deciding whether I will return after I get all the rewards.

My changing view of the game and strategy for getting plunder are the same as yours.
I'm liking the mode a bit more eaxh day and once I finish the quest, it's off to find easy plunder or PVP blaze of glory time.
I actually love Plunderstorm. At this pace, Ive got 10% of 1 million under my belt (in my pocket? 😅) so that hidden achievement might be doable. Having a lot of fun with it!

I'm having a blast with Plunderstorm, even as someone who never played a battle royale before and never did arenas and rated BGs. The combat is so much slower pace that its easy to tell that I'm dying to and how to learn from it. I eventually improved enough to where I can now kill other players and win a few games. That was unexpected for me since my first couple games had me dead in the first couple minutes.
This this might come as a shock for those of you who hate PvP but if you want to surive more than a minute in Plunderstorm, then you need to be better at PvE, not PvP. If you can kill mobs and level up faster than other players, then the PvE renown farmers will leave you alone because they don't want to mess with anyone, and the PvPers will leave you alone because they know it's inefficient to spend even one minute trying to kill you. Players that kill you in the first minute because they're a higher level didn't get to a higher level by killing other players; it's because they kill mobs faster.
Once you realize that a majority of the players in each lobby are just like you, i.e. they hate PvP, then you'll have the advantage. I can't even count the number of times I've had people run away from me just because I'm a higher level, even though I have no intention to fight them. And if a PvP player tries to get the jump on me, I just have to put up just a little bit of resistance for them to realize that it's not worth the time or risk to fight me and they'll back off.

As I'm 36/40 now I'm feeling better about it. Mainly cause I've almost done what I need for the mog.
I'm such that if someone puts a time limit on a pvp thing it stresses me out.
Once I hit 40 I'll not be crazy putting 4 hours after work and all day Saturday on this fluff.
The biggest hurdle for me is the mythic dungeons. I haven't done a m0, let alone m+, since legion and I probably won't now.

Exactly that: It is fomo-PvP and they dangled the biggest possible carrot (awesome pirate transmog) in front of me an combined it with the most joyless (speaking only for myself) game-mode I could imagine. I tried every form of PvP in WoW and I know one thing: I suck at any sort of PvP. However I occasionally dipped into PvP mostly it was required for some meta achievements. Never been happy with it but at least managed to get it done quite quickly. However of all sorts of PvP Plunderstorm is probably the version I suck at most. I still try to get it done because of the Transmog (I am kinda obsessed with everything Pirates) but it is not growing on me and will probably be the most joyless grind in the whole game for the last 25 years (and I did the Timbermaw reputation-grind).
If they increased the reputation gain maybe I will pull through and I really hope so because much more annoying than doing this joyless and humiliating grind for 60 days would be to do this and not even get the reward.

Nobody could be already done with the DF meta because there's a new quest achi with the Fringe dailies that doesn't track your already done ones. So you need at least 7 days to do that (that's where I'm at, then I'll have the meta done).
Also, most if not all the mounts & dragon skins tied to the meta are bugged. For example, the bestowed mounts don't show up in the catalogue. The black nether drake skin doesn't show up either etc. All the things they added are pretty much bugged.
Is the Meta Achievement time-gated, like the veilstrider title, or evergreen, like the new Zovaal mount? Also: Is there *no* title with the DF Meta?
I feel like most people hating on the mode haven't tried to duo with a friend. I started playing it with my friends and thought it was a lot of fun, but then later I tried to solo queue and it did feel miserable. Give it a chance with a guildie on comms and see how you like it, it's a different game.
At the end of the day, I'm paying to enjoy the game and have a good time -- while the cosmetics are cool, they're just not cool enough for me to torture myself doing this event. It sucks, but it is what it is. I am glad that they are trying different things, though. I just hope that next time it's something that I like!

I HAAAATTTEEE Plunderstorm. I'm not good at PVP of any sort so this has me bashing my head against the wall. On repeat. So much that I get so frustrated that I just turn the entire game off because I don't have the energy to play actual WoW. I'm almost at 10 and 40 seems so far away. I am happy about the new Meta though. That at least gives me something to do that makes my collector heart happy.
I like the rewards but I have no interest in the game mode.
I’m glad they are adding mini games. I hope they expand on the idea. And do tower defense from Warcraft 3. That will be awesome 🎉
I wonder if the results of plunderstorm will give them the info they are looking for. It is obvious this is consumer testing to see if a new game like this is viable. It is definitely a niche game though. People hate or are ok with it.
Are these meta achievements going away after Dragonflight?
Being a collector of sorts, achs and otherwise, tends to automatically get you meta achs. I was missing one ach from SL one when it was announced, and now again only missing dragon quests, the one that supposedly wasn't possible to achieve previous to 10.2.6. Reading how people generally miss a lot made me realize how collecting everything isn't the norm for wow players lol
I feel stupid about the meta acheivement. I kind of knew that the Forbidden Reach and Zaralek Caverns metas would be part of it when it would arrive but did I do them when the zones were current? Ooh nooo! Of course not! XD
When in Plunderstorm you run around and come across PVP areas. The fog should push everyone towards a PVP and allow players to PVE for a while before pushing players to fight.
BTW dogs are colour blind so might not look a lot different.

I started plunderstorm the same way, the PVP annoyed me, but then I started to focus on the pve aspect of it, I started going to the outside, riding the storm and I found by focusing pve, once there was about 20 people left I was 2-3 levels higher then most and I already had a lot of plunder so even if I lost at 20 or lower still was okay with that.
Slightly disappointed that Arathi Highlands hasn't been updated in retail to show Brew Bay.

If only Blizz would either prevent premades from joining or group them with other premades for Trial of Style, otherwise there is no point as a solo player going into one that is 3+ guildies who will just win trade.
I am really enjoying Plunderstorm. I am not a PvPer, but I think it's fun. I'm also terrible at the PvP aspect of it.
I would feel better about Plunderstorm if players were given a minute or 2 to complete the quest, gather plunder and abilities before PvP kicks in.

I'm so frustrated they added all these meta achievements with mounts attached... And didn't add the mounts into the game at all! I haven't seen anyone mention it, either, besides just other players (like no word from blue posts/devs or WoWhead) so it just seems really broken to me. Right now all the hotfixes seem to be Plunderstorm related while I'm sitting here like 'hey... hey guys... I think you... Uh I think you forgot the uh... the mounts...? ;-;'
Specifically: Back from the Beyond and Que Zara(lek) mounts WORK FOR SURE. World Awoken I think works, since Taivan is in the mount journal. Into the Storm, along with all the zone metas that were added (ie Bestowed mounts) have mounts attached but don't show in the mount journal whatsoever. I have two of the zone metas, but no mount reward, despite it saying I should
Another frustrating bit (at least to me) is that, if you got any of the new meta achievements on 10.2.6 launch, they don't appear on that day for earning it. They, instead, seemingly pick a random achievement and copy that date for completion. It's super bizarre, because I have achievements in the meta I completed later than what the meta says I achieved it on. I like to track my progress via an addon calendar (from Krowi's achievement addon) but those ones basically being thrown to the wind really threw me off :S
I just wish we'd get a blue post with 'we're working on it' and I'd be satisfied lol ;-;

Ive played this before hotfix and still cannot tell that there was a increase. I have never been a fan of pvp of any sort. I was honestly hoping for a pirate voyage to the other side of Azeroth with a quick peak of what might be to come at some later point. I guess to each their own. Also how are people earning reknowns so quickly.
Agreed, but as I've pointed out to people, we already had a pirate themed expansion, it was called "Battle For Azeroth"... and look how that turned out.

I'm hating logging into the game but I feel like I have to so I don't regret it in the future when I see people using the mount.
I wish they would fix all the new mount awarding achievements. Why add them if you haven't added the mounts to the game? I'm still working on them, but not bothering to finish them until they actually ward the mounts.
yeah i hate the fomo aspect of it. the cosmetics work with my rogue so i really want them but it feels like you gotta focus on it just so you dobt miss out. sucks
In the same boat of hating plunderstorm at first go. It drops you into a new game mode with assets you're familiar with, but everything is out of place. It took me a few matches before realizing you could rebind the keys and searching for the autorun toggle. The "drop" at the start doesn't feel good because it's reminiscent of the stupid hypogryph flapping quests and how awkward that mechanic felt (especially after how fluid dragonriding feels now, vehicle movement of the past is so clunky). As a non PVPer, the anxiety of being chased and dying over and over again is never fun and not how i'd like to spend my time hunting for cosmetics.
It's really creepy at how far people will chase you across the zone just to get a pvp kill. They'll run past 100 plunder just to kill you to get 10.
As a non pvper I was surprised I won as teh bush. Both last pvper killed each other at the same time lol.

i can say i wish all the plunderstorm rewards were on retail like the titles - i was sad that i couldnt use them on retail 😢, plunder coins could have had a vendor on retail for more stuff

It's been wild to me to see a lot of the entitlement from the PvE collectors. I think you were spot-on about expectations and it's very valid to feel upset and misled with Blizzard's handling of the game mode. But setting that aside, considering how excruciatingly limited all PvP content in WoW's entire 18+ years of development have been, it stings to see the people that have had 99.99% of all of the mounts and titles and transmogs made for them and delivered in amazing zones and raids with great storytelling complaining about having to grind out a single renown level per day for 6 weeks. PvPers rarely get new BGs or Arenas, mounts and titles are reserved for 0.1% - 0.5% of the top players, and virtually none of the story is told through PvP despite faction conflict being core to the game's themes.
From my point of view, it's easy to drop into Plunderstorm and PvE for the first few minutes and then pick a fight with the strongest looking player nearby or run into the storm a few times and get a rank of renown or two per hour. And when I tally up how many times I'm dying in Plunderstorm vs how many times I die wiping on raid progression nights, the numbers are very close. And 6-week grinds have been part of the game since Vanilla. I'm even doing some right now to collect stuff I missed from Shadowlands and WoD, and that's on top of all of the Dragonflight grinds! So the issue seems to be mostly that other players are doing the killing rather than a raid boss.
And for that, the most heated and antagonistic rhetoric I've ever seen from the WoW community is spilling out everywhere. Even in the other comments under this video, the hate is flowing.
The kicker is that they made a Gladiator mount that a tiny fraction of PvPers got a PvE completionist reward too with this same update! Imo, that's a bigger deal than PvEers having to play ~150-200 games to get the parrot mount. Some people put far more than 6 weeks of grinding into getting their glad mount, and now it's no longer exclusive. Worse, some people spent more than 6 weeks grinding and FAILED to get that glad mount, and now they have to see people that maybe have never touched PvP flying around on it, and if they want it they, as a PvPer, have to go grind tons of PvE content and achievements.
The only thing that looks more unreasonable than the hostile collectors on social to me in all of this is Blizzard. These decisions had very predictable outcomes, and they went ahead with them anyhow.
I was prepared to hate Plunderstorm since I am anti-PvP but it's not too bad and occasionally fun. I still have not managed to kill a single person (when I'm attacked), but I have made a game of avoiding them :D
It's easy to get back into a new match, but it's painful to stay 1mn in game before being stomped. I'm terrible at this game, and it would be ok if you really were dispatched across the map, but half the time I drop and someone is near so the match doesn't last long...
It was bad at start, it became ok, almost fun, but having done 6 matches in less than 15mn today, it became frustrating.
Knowing this is the only thing that's new since quite some time, and probably for quite some time, this event is a miss IMO.
What I dont understand about plunderstorm is the aspect of the PVP, from the story side of things we all work under a captain so why are we in fighting for loot. Never made any sense, we should have just been a team and collect loot from horde and alliance like actual pirates.
