Another slice of Pye! Love everything he does!
Glad you dig! Thanks for the support!
great breakdown as always
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
🔥🔥🔥perfect as usual !! killer teacher
Thank you Christopher!
Thank's.
You're welcome
great job and nice video! keep it up! greetings from belgium.
Appreciate it, thanks for the support!
What pole is being used with the flash & modifier. Great video! Very informative.
I wanted to ask this same question. It looks easier to use than a light stand
Did the softbox come with both internal diffusion panels (full and half stop)?
Great Video!! was that the Profit bx10?
My B10X+ arrived after the shoot, so we shot some details with it. During the shoot I was using the B10+ (500 w/s). The X is just the latest version.
Pye what is the monopod you using? Looks like SIRUI with legs but I'm not sure.
Hi Pye,
What mount are you using to hold the flash/octa?
Scene 3 at 7:40. Looks like light is 20 feet away, my question is what was the power setting for this shot on the B10X plus strobe? Wondering if you used all 500 watts?
Did the couple do something so evil to you that you decided to pose them in JTNP's cholla patch to get even? 😂🌵
HAHAHA, dude that cholla garden is GNARLY. There's something about the spikes on that particular plant.
Ya cholla spikes are like magnets to passerby’s 😂
When seeing lots of clips with Pye, this one has another sound. Like a new mic was used.
Voice sounds deeper than in other clips.
Excellent shots and info like usual.
Appreciate it! It was the same lav mic, but I think Viet cleans it up in post w/ AI where needed.
This may be a dumb question, but can you use those soft boxes if you shoot another brand strobe?
As long as they have the same mount type
"There's no other word for it....a shaft of light"
....beam? lol
Fun shoot, and cool location!! But I miss the notation of which DVLOP pack was used for the Final Images tho! Mood? Radiant?
For this one I used the Mood Pack.
@@payamjirsa Can't reply with GIFs on TH-cam, but I'd be using an epic "I knew it!!" one right here :)

@@slrlounge thanks, but I bought them ALL a long time ago, as well as ImpossibleThings ;)
Great video.. but i need to highlight that you said "we going to go quick.." at the last shot...but your talk keep as always...nice tone and peaceful, almost relaxing..😅😅 thanks!!
Haha, appreciate that. I always try to remain calm collected cause when I'm freaking out I waste a lot of time freaking out =)
Wait a minute, did I hear Pye, a Canon user hinted at using the Sony A9 iii with the global shutter? Sometimes in the future Pye’s suggestion will be all towards all cameras.
Haha, I'm jonesing for Canon to bring us global shutter. In the meantime, I'll just be jelly =)
Can you achieve this with a 400 watt strobe?
Yes!
I’m more interested in the permit process to shoot commercially in Joshua tree. What was the process like? It’s a daunting task within a winding road.
For portrait sessions, you're good. For big productions (commercial/film) you need to permit.

In last shot a white reflector would be more efficient
Yes and no. Reflectors are great, but getting consistent results from image to image can be challenging (because your assistant has to really nail it). Plus a white would probably not be quite enough light, you'd need to use a silver. But then you're probably going to get them squinting a lot. Each tool is great, but there's a purpose to each one.
profoto is a ripoff. Get angler or smdv equivalent instead!
Why do you say it’s a ripoff? Price?
White umbrella left tha chat
They literally are the company doing most of the R&D that's being stolen by other companies, who then undercut them. Not to mention, give them a try and you'll see a substantial difference in quality and experience. Sure, they're expensive, but there's also a reason why there's a cost difference.
Profoto didn’t R&D and make these softboxes. They were licensed by Profoto from SMDV. I love the Profoto system, but the modifier prices are just plain silly. I have this same softbox that I used in my video two years ago with a Profoto insert.
I was speaking of the lights themselves@@gregshawphotography8828
