I would like to also add to the best of my memory don quijote is tax free but what they do is they put your stuff in a sealed bag that you must not open while you are in Japan. If you open it while you are still in Japan then you owe the taxes on those items. I had bought stuff I had intended to use right away at the tax free cashier and didn’t realize this so I had to keep it inside the sealed the bag. So just be prepared for that.

How would anyone know where you purchased it, and if you purchased it tax free? You can't open the sealed bag at your hotel and put the bag in a bin?

This! I wish someone had warned me so I could have separated out some things I wanted then and there. And they packed them so awkwardly, trying to pack them in our cases was a nightmare. I ended up just opening them up and packing it that way. I was more than happy to pay the taxes if it was brought up at the airport but no one bothered. I guess the ¥800 wasn't worth the time haha 😅 I find it odd that only Don bags items up, most other stores didn't bother?

Excellent advice,l go to Tokyo as a solo traveller this year, staying in 5***** hotels but will only eat in Konbinis. Family Mart Chicken is meant to be legendary and will be my lunch and dinner each day,l will save hundreds of dollars, why would l even go to a fancy Japanese Restaurant anyway? To impress myself!? 😂 Not a chance,Lawsons,7-11 and Family Mart will feed me on my trip😊

I was honestly surprised at the range of meals that konbinis provided and the quality was so good for the price! I think we only went to a restaurant about 5 times in 2 weeks, not counting trying the McDs special menu

Excellent! I am even more encouraged to avoid fancy Restaurants and embrace the Konbini! Thankyou.

sorry but Don Quijote is probably one of the worst place to get souvenirs. I remember few years ago buying few dozen ninja theme keychains for like Y800 each then saw those exact keychains in a Lawsons near Osaka Castle for Y400 to Y600 each. Don Quijote is such a BS place for Tourists.

You know what I hear you just can’t find in Japan? An F inng salad. There’s no such thing. Vegetables are hard to come by. Otherwise yeah I would be morbidly obese if I lived there.
