I went in the winter time and japan blasts heat to about 80+ F indoors. Trains have heaters under the seat. I found myself taking off my jacket very often, sweating in winter feels wierd. It has to do with customs of not letting thier elderly get cold.

Osaka and kyoto train system on google maps dont have as much info as tokyo line such as station numbers, and signage in general seems to be less. I got lost alot compared to tokyo.

If you are sensitive to oily foods DO NOT EAT WAGYU it made me throw up so much😭 worth it but I’ll never eat it again

I don’t get why people keep saying not to bring a big bag. It was my biggest regret and ending up having to buy a new one for all the clothing we purchased. Just pay to have the bags delivered to your next destination. It was actually one of the most exciting cost I had. The idea that I didn’t have to deal with that when moving around from city to city was priceless!!

Stayed in Shinjuku Korea Town, I was confused at first because I didn't realize that when I booked and everything was Korea themed. 😂 It wasn't bad, but next time I'll make sure I have different train lines near the hotel. :)

Does that mean I can also get a tax refund if the store does not participate in the system? I found that many smaller stores don't care and want to avoid the paperwork associated with it. It's also annoying to carry your passport with you all the time, because basically no one accepts the QR code that you get in the app.

Wtf?! This is a horrible change.... imagine you're late to the airport, you basically could lose hundreds of dollars.

Never even think of taking taxis if you are in urban part of Japan such as Tokyo and Osaka. Trains and subways are the main transportation of these cities and the entire metropolis is built based on those train lines. Therefore it is much more convenient and cheap to use trains instead of taxis.

a question for current tax refund, once we paid the good excluding tax, are they sealed in the bag and we have to present it at the airport? Can they be used? Eg: new suitcase, clothing etc.

Smart move by the J-Gov... because many people in a hurry at the airport won't bother to get the refund, especially if there are long lines.
