The front one isn't needed and tbh gets in the way, it pulls the canvas in at first but then when you want to fold it in as the roof is down, it tends to pull it out. So just keep it as a spare :-)
I always thought you had to pull it down at the same time, I thought it damaged it doing it one side then the other lol. You learn something new every day :)
Why didn't you fasten the strap to pull the sides in on the front of the canvas?
