Judging them is not what we should be doing, as a legitimate agent we should be judging the trash scammers giving us a bad name and ruining it for people like us that genuinely are in it to help people explore the world
Soooo frustrating for us legit agents
No, they should be judged also. Seriously how dumb does someone have to be to fall for this. As soon as they saw the price & form of payment the bullshit meter should’ve gone off.

They weren’t being lazy. They were being trusting.

I have used the same travel agent for years and I still check behind him. If it's a cruise, I download the app, so I can track it and check randomly. I believe in protecting my money
Same. I booked with a travel agent for the first time this year(am a veteran cruiser). I was logging in to the cruise portal to check excursions and meal/internet deals pretty regularly.
Wish I could double thumbs this comment. This is a must! TA's can make mistakes. I did and got it resolved as soon as it found. #humanbeing
Victim blaming is never okay! It just empowers the perpetrators/scammers. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
Calling them lazy , ignorant is to much bro. I know the code words. They were inexperienced in cruising booking. Do better man. 🤙🏿
so you caught that tone too? it be your own. i think im giving his channel a break for awhile.
Thinking $500 for a cruise on Utopia was legit was the first mistake. Hopefully they know better now for the future....and hopefully that pos scammer gets busted.
For a 3 days cruise the price is right
Maybe that was the pp fee which would have been more like $1100 for 3 days probably an inside cabin
@@NVeeThatsMe Agree!
@@NVeeThatsMe actually it is only around $500, I priced it myself!
The price isn’t far fetched. I paid 600 something for me and my mom per person for a balcony facing Central Park. We shouldn’t call them “lazy”, everyone is not as well versed in travel accommodations or computer savvy. They were trusting, that was their only mistake.
I don’t think it’s fair to call them lazy. They probably genuinely did not know the proper steps to take.
I will say that, people fall for scams all the time. People who think they would never. Unfortunately if people didn't, it wouldn't be scammers
Exactly
Lazy isn't the issue. Naive, absolutely. Let's normalize not believing anything on Facebook. Nothing is verified, and they take no responsibility if things go wrong. Nor does cash app, venmo, zelle, apple cash, google pay, paypal...etc
Especially Facebook never buy anything on Facebook. I bought something for $200 and I never got it. I had to dispute it with my bank.
Lazy is a strong word. I feel bad for them. Unfortunately, this is a very expensive lesson.
You can do yourself
So we just call people we don’t know LAZY, that is so tacky and distasteful. You know about cruising , they do not.
Calling someone lazy for a mistake made is wild work and kind of gross imo.
Not surprised. He only does it to skin folk
This agent gives travel agents a bad name. As a new travel agent this makes me angry. I disagree that these ladies were lazy. They were simply uninformed.
I’m glad the comment section is overwhelming in its compassion for these ladies and calling out the TH-camr for his unnecessarily harsh commentary. Although I am internet savvy and have traveled more often than most people, I can see how people who may not travel often or even cruise could be taken advantage of. If you’ve never cruised before, you wouldn’t necessarily know to download the app, search for excursions, etc.
Booking a cruise is SO simple, you don’t even need a travel agent. I feel sorry for them.
Agreed! I say this All the time, You don’t need a travel agent! I been cruising many times for over a decade and I’ve never booked with a travel agent.
Poor Newbies.
As a travel agent, there are some discounts we can pass on to clients they can't get. I give the itinerary, and they have access to their account with the cruise line. But most definitely do research, even if you book on your own. This was horrible.
Cash App should have been the first red flag.
@@stephaniewalker7952 You give “discounts” but then they pay a fee for your services that covers the “discounts” you gave them. It’s a sales tactic.

Facebook post wasn't the issue. I am a travel agent and many of my clients have come from post on social media, people I have never met. What got me is that he said we have to call a Spade a spade. Maybe at the time of recording this it didn't dawn on him, but after reviewing the footage it should have been obvious that calling a person of color a spade is derogatory. Maybe you didn't know that Jay but it is obvious to many people out here. Also, calling someone lazy because they didn't 'follow up' after booking, inferring that they should have known better and downloaded the app--what's the point of getting a travel agent if you have to follow behind them to make sure they did their job? As a travel agent, do you always ask the consumer to follow up behind you when you book for them? Isn't that part of the travel agent's job?
I'm sure he wouldn't have called them that if they were white.

I don't agree that you blame them that they were scammed. Some people don't go on vacations regularly (or as a job), or they are not familiar with cruising. They may not have known what to look for.

I agree! From the news report, it looks like they had some confirmation from the royal Caribbean website. And according to Royal Caribbean, they were in contact with the travel agent for a period of time. This is not just all on those poor ladies.
People go through travel agents to alleviate the stress of booking a vacation. They clearly didn’t know any better but calling them lazy is weird. Lazy for not researching what they probably don’t even know what to look for. You don’t know what you don’t know. So they thought a professional was handling it. I’m so sorry but this was sooooo judgmental. You’re not usually this way. I hope you understand that this was pretty much offensive and I’ve never been offended by anything you’ve said.
Jay I believe you are beening judgemental. None of us are above beening scammed.
I think it was summed up best by the lady saying "Do Your Research". I feel so bad for these ladies, I wish they had done that. That's with everything, hotels, transportation etc. I have a travel agent that I've trusted for 25 years but it's very easy to book a cruise with the cruise lines, too.
It's not 100% their fault. They got scammed. Should have been smarter about it. But you can't say it's 100% their fault. Maybe 80-90% lol But scammers are out there. People should be smarter, but it happens everyday.
They could have been inexperienced first-time cruisers and did not know there is a check in process. I feel bad for them, and the best judgement was lacking. In their defense, there are many reputable cruises that have a link in the FB post that is indeed a valid link. Jay, I'm highly disappointed. The undertones...geez. Im side eyeing you now.

As a fellow travel agent, I totally agree with you. Never trust any travel agent that wants you to make payments via cash app. I’m so disappointed that people are scamming people in regards to travel.

They weren't being "lazy" Jay. They were being trusting. Please choose your words carefully, especially when describing people who look like you.

It’s really a shame that we have to have our guard up all the time. Thievery is so common now, the norm its really awful these people have no conscience. Shame on them I hope life gets very tough for them. Very sorry that these people didn’t get to go. I know the excitement and anticipation of a cruise and to be told you can’t board is just devastating. So sorry!!!!
As someone who has been really scammed, I feel sorry for these ladies. No, they weren’t real savvy about what they were booking but at least they tried going through a travel agent. They just happen to pick one that was a real fraud.
They weren’t lazy they just did not know it was a had lesson they learned they took it for face value
Now I like your content but didn’t like that you called the victims lazy and “poor devils”. They learned a valuable lesson and I’m glad you reported on it. Hi, I watch you a lot. But I would like to say, using the term "lazy" with the ladies who got scammed, they also may not have known about choosing tours, etc.
Exactly, and they were new cruisers. They made a mistake but that’s not being lazy im very disappointed in the lack of empathy he showed. He sounds obnoxious and rude
Definitely disgusted with his victim shaming. I notice in his videos about fights etc he always says negative things about people of his own race smh
Usually I respect your take, but using terms like " ignorant & lazy"? Lots of derogatory assumptions here. In my opinion not so helpful. Scams are successful because they target individuals. I know my own Mom was scammed, and as she is not tech savvy she ..She was out of her depth not "ignorant..nor lazy." Often older individuals are more trusting and less knowledgeable about technology. As a family we educated Mom, and put safeguards in place so that this would not happen again. Not all people have someone to look out for them. Call me unimpressed!

Book through the actual cruise line. Book through the actual cruise line
My travel agent completes my booking and once everything is completed, payments, we get the booking number and is able to log into our account on the cruise line website. Seems like the group should have done the same, including printing boarding pass, luggage tags, read up on cruise line policies. I spend a lot of time on my cruise account prior to cruising. If they had attempted to set up an account or log into the cruise app, they would have known the booking wasn’t legitimate. Sorry this happened to them…..
You calling the women lazy sounds pretty arrogant on your part and insensitive. It's disappointing. You assume that these were seasoned cruisers who should have known. You got all of that from a 3 minute news story?

I've always booked my cruises on the cruise web site just for this reason and I've been doing this since 2010!
Always book directly with the cruise line either by phone or on their website. I'm sure there are a lot of trusted travel agents/agencies, but stories like this make me want to continue booking my vacations and cruises myself especially when its so easy.
The only sad stories I ever hear is the ones being booked by travel agents or something like this. Booking directly is the only way to go.😊
She should be grateful she's only out a few hundred dollars. One lady was out 12000 because she shared her booking number online and someone grabbed it and it screwed her cold cruise by canceling it.😮
Well the total would be around 900.00 with everything that’s tack on to the back end of the cruise fare alone. I agree, if you are new to this, it’s best to book it directly yourself. Even TA’s make mistakes.
Your comments of these two women is a bit harsh, lazy??? come on Justin. I used to follow you all the time but am noticing that your comments are often not presented the best of ways especially towards a certain demographic of individuals which I don't really find shocking, rather typical. (side note, many of the your peers of the same persuasion as you, have commented in various threads the same observation about you) You young man, are not an expert on all things cruising you are simply a video vlogger like many others who post here on youtube, outside of that you yourself just became a "travel agent" and did not do so in the traditional manner as many trusted and knowledgable agents have. These women may have been new to cruising and didn't know where to start to book a cruise and they likely had no idea of what the real process should have been, or maybe they were just trusting that the person they thought they were dealing with was legitimate. I am done watching anything you put out. Try being a bit humble going forward, it's a trait which seems to be lost in you.
Oh my! Lazy? Really sir. I don't see them as lazy. Not savvy, yes. You are being judgemental. Don't forget where you came from.
I book all my cruises thru my cruise lines agents only
While Royal Caribbean isn't at all at fault, it makes sense why the people who were scammed as well as this news agency would reach out to them. It is important for companies to know when people who are attempting to buy their products are being scammed. I'm hoping law enforcement was also notified. That said, I agree with their decision to never book with a travel agent. One can do research without a travel agent and actually book cruise or various other travel related things without a travel agent while still getting a very good idea about what you're trip will look like (and it cuts out a middleman).
The last I used a travel agent was in the 1990s. With everything and everyone on the internet now a days, Why would any need a travel agent.
Why are you victim shaming? They made a mistake, and they are right to book directly with the cruise line going forward so they can manage their OWN booking. Typical TA response you gave; hater
My close friend is my travel agent... I still book my own cruises when she's busy. I ALWAYS, no matter who books it, sign into my account and check, probably monthly, to make sure nothing is weird. C'mon, she should have had to check in and got all the paperwork, etc. I always double check my room location, etc. It just seems weird to me that this happens as much as it does.
