    I’m familiar with Dali, great speakers. I know you have that big window there but can you tame that echo? It not gonna do any favors for sound quality

    Have had my Dali speakers for more than ten years now! Still sounds fantastic! The front speakers should not be angled towards the sweet spot. should be pointing straight forward.

      I am sure he has the speaker calibrated for the room and his experience. Home theatre is really about preference and what sort of sound profile you like.
      You may like he may not and vice versa.

    The Altecos are downfire speakers. The way he mounted them is upside down. The Rubicon has two tweeters. A common Tweeter for high frequencies and the ribbon for super high frequencies. The other three are for mid- and low. I have a DALI System myself. The Brand is very popular in Europe and well regarded.

      A lot of these set ups are personal as to what you like and what he likes. That is the beauty of home theatre and why it can be a much more personal experience than a cinema.

    Dali probably not the ultimate but oh God they are bloody good. I have 20 year old suite's and I was listening today thinking that's going low without notes smearing into each other. Vocals sound good and smooth tops
    So can't see me changing any time soon.

    Whoa, Zack, tone it down a little bit. I thought you were about to fight me as soon as the video started playing. You should look into getting a cheap lavaliere mic on Amazon for like $35. Thanks for reviewing these awesome speakers.

  • @simianinc
    @simianinc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is there a problem with having the speakers pushed into those corners? Dali suggest you don’t toe them, but I’m guessing that there isn’t much choice because the screen is so big it isn’t reasonable to face the Dalis forward

  • @CedricMartin1
    @CedricMartin1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cool review, I like it. However a nitpick (and an easy fix): proud DALI owner here and as far as I know there are no DALI floorstanders that can be toe'd in: it's a particularity of DALI floorstanders.

    • @noochta7131
      @noochta7131 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep hearing that but no matter how many times I’ve tried, my Dali Concept 10 floorstanding speakers sound better toe’d in rather than straight. Even the manual says to keep them straight but to my ears they sound better toe’d in.

    Do boundary gains not come into play...I see speakers shoved into corners. I always thought speakers sound best off the side and rear walls a bit.

    • @FOH3663
      @FOH3663 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed
      This particular HT is screaming for greater optimization, just a more optimal setup ... yielding seriously compromised sound and so much performance left un-tapped.
      Simply some side wall room treatment, back wall, front wall and even the ceiling ... all would benefit the listening experience do so much.
      The last thing those speakers need is that big bare sidewall right up against the wide dispersion speaker.
      Ideally, a quick fix in this situation would be building a simple screenwall out a few feet from the front wall. Just stud 2x4s faced with fabric ... hang the screen on the new screen wall, and bring the left and right speakers in and allow them to fire thru the acoustic transparent screen ... then place as much damping ... like fluffy stuff, or OC703, recycled cotton denim, Roxul Safe-N-Sound ... whatever suits the budget as it could be done quite inexpensively.
      That way the left and rights are way off sidewalls, imaging and soundstaging would be night and day better, and best of all bass would tighten up dramatically.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FOH3663
      But you are leaving out the fact that it is his optimization and not yours or mine. What you do I might not do either.

      𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴, 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦 ?
      It's optimization, not opinion.
      Similarly, it's not gear choice, or other pursuits that incorporate subjectivity.
      It's simply optimization ..., obtaining greater performance from existing equipment.
      Unfortunately way too many enthusiasts don't have their gear set up adequately to take advantage of it's inherent capabilities.
      I was responding to what the OP pointed out above ... after seeing the speakers stuffed into the corners, he said; "I always thought speakers sound best off the side and rear walls a bit"
      Oftentimes, merely some simple, best practice steps toward optimizing generate mammoth performance gains ... otherwise left un-tapped.
      Those are free ... working with what you've already got.
      Then, if needed, via some high value DIY efforts, some prudent spending in the right areas magnifies the performance even more.
      (The loudspeaker/room interface is by far the single most important element in any system. Employing best practice approaches to speaker placement, as well as listener position, is the area of biggest gains)

    The movie theater is very interesting, although I am struck by the very large screen given the total space. We're clear! All the time and money invested. That is why I congratulate you for a very good job, I hope you continue to evolve your cinema room, such as reflective, absorbent acoustic panels and finally a good sofa. 👍🏼👏👏 PS: do you like Camera pretty boy (and take it as a compliment) greetings from 🇨🇱

    For 7 grand I think I'd have a decent set of floor spikes on them and as someone else pointed out, the C1s should either be mounted at the top of the ceiling or upfiring to replicate Atmos. The way he's got them mounted is just bizarre.

    • @lanlennart

      It is his choice. Maybe he watches mostly 5.1 and then occasionally does something different. Most the movies I watch are 5.1 even though my system is 7.2 and most of this is personal in choice.
      A THX system for example would be completely the opposite of Atmos and most people would see a THX system would appreciate it. My friend has a THX system and it is amazing but I do not want it set up in that fashion.

      The alteco speakers are upside down and are designed to sit in one of two positions, either on top of floor standers to bounce sound from the ceiling (which sounds garbage) or mounted upright on the walls up high. There is a switch for mounting them in front of the audience (which is marked up) or mounted immediately above the listener at the rear (switch is marked down) which changes the vocal range to a 25 degree downward firing range. His are upside down so doing virtually nothing.
