Okayama castle is one of the only black castles in japan. I've seen a lot of castles during my travels in Japan and so it's nice to see something more unique like this.
I love your intro here. Another great video! How I love the wooden castle as it show's it's simplicity and makes it so unique and the black castle is so huge wow. This place in Japan is amazing as always. I also love the shrines and temples of Japan.
The black castle is on the smaller side of castles that I've visited in Japan but it is certainly very unique. There is only one other black castle in Japan I think, which makes this one special
Oh WOW! Another lovely place!!! a BLACK castle! How cool is that? Love that you were rowing a boat too! Looks so fun! So nice there is so much to do around there! Cute story about PEACH BOY! You are definitely have so much fun riding the bike! There are just temples everywhere! Love it!
Biking is my favorite way to explore little towns and ride through the countryside of Japan. You can see so much but you have to be careful not to get lost
Nice video. I lived in Okayama 2 years and enjoyed most of it. One thing that a lot of people don't know is that some military genius (note: ) decided to put anti-aircraft guns on the castle grounds during WWII- thus turning it into a military target, so it got (mostly) destroyed by bombers. It probably would have been left alone otherwise, like Nara and Kyoto. The one that is there now was built around 1966 out of concrete. It also has an elevator and a vending machine, which I don't think are traditional. I used to practice juggling on the other side of the river with the castle in the background. It is a very peaceful place.
it’s a shame about the castle but it’s still nice that they’ve built a beautiful replica. the elevator may not be great from a traditional prospective but it allows older or people with disability to access Ana enjoy the castle too.
Thank you! I'll be sure to check out some of your videos, too. I'm sure since you live in the area you have more time to explore the local hidden gems.
I grew up in Okayama. So happy to see this video!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I really liked my time in Okayama. I was surprised by how much there is to do there.
Wow NIKI's hometown is stunning 😍😍😍
Okayama is certainly a quiet and quaint place to live but I think that makes it more beautiful
Thank you for commenting
Indeed a gorgeous place and a perfect alternative for Venice :) loved it
Much less crowded alternative for sure.
Wow, the castle grounds are amazing! Love the black look! We really want to go to Japan and you are really inspiring us. There's so much to see!

Well, they don't call it Japan's sunniest prefecture for no reason.

You did such a great job on this video! We just moved to Okayama and make videos on it, but to see if from a fresh perspective was cool!😊

Matsumoto Castle is also black…
Yes, I've seen Matsumoto Castle as well. However, the one in Okayama is painted with a special lacquer.
Matsumoto Castle is also black. And it is not a reconstruction.
Thank you for letting me know.
