First smartphone: Nokia E71. It was cool for its time, but even the original iPhone completely blew it out of the water in terms of actual usability.
First iPhone: 4S. The degree to which this phone slimmed down my EDC still blows my mind. iPod, phone, printed maps, and a point and shoot camera all go compressed into a single device that could even do a bunch of extra stuff I could only do on my laptop before.
I know the photo quality isn’t all that great, but the vintage aesthetics is something to look out for!
I remember when it came out I wanted one so badly 😭 I had finally got a 3g when that one came out. It’s crazy to think about the beginning of the App Store and how many lives it has changed
I remember a colleague from the radio station that I worked at in the summer of 2010, queuing in line for the iPhone 4. He was so excited and showed us all at work. It was beautiful. He dropped it when he was unlocking his car and brought it to work the following day. The whole front of it was a shattered spiderweb mess of glass! We were so horrified as glass on a phone was rare in those days and we'd been used to the old brick phones that could take any drop and still work. I remember that he was so upset that he wrote an Email to Steve Jobs :) I think Steve told him that he dropped it wrong :) :) :) (I remember that he ignored the Email). I'm hoping for the 14 Pro this September :) It will replace the iPhone 4S!!!!!!!! Seriously, that is going to be a HUGE UPGRADE!!!!!!!

I did not get the first iPhone.but I did get the 3G which had a plastic body.Loved it.
Mine was the 3GS in 09’, I wish I was able to own the original iPhone when it was first released though
My first iPhone was a 5c then I upgraded to a iPhone 6 and I upgraded to a iPhone X and I upgraded last year in 2021 to a iPhone 12 ❤😊
The original iPhone was extremely ahead of its time (I'd say at least 10 years ahead), so it's unbelievable that Apple was able to invent a phone of this form factor back then. Since no other company created an iPhone-like device before the original iPhone, how did Apple come up with this idea, and why didn't any other company come up with a similar idea? In other words, where did Apple get the idea to make a phone like the iPhone, and why didn't anyone else think to do this?

i had iphone 5 before but now im using ipad 8 gen and i have old previous ipad 2 since 10 years ago but its still working like yesterday and still kicking i only use my ipad 2 as my secondary tablet when my ipad 8 is low battery

Even at $500 in 2007-dollars, is actually pretty cheap for a smart phone. You’re talking about a sub-800 dollar phone. The 1000-plus dollar smart phone era has pretty much been around since like 2017, mmmmaybe 2016. So, 740, 750 ish dollars for a smart phone I think ANYONE right now wouldn’t hesitate to take.

And I had a Sony Erickson cellphone in high school and a htc phone In 2009 with a stylus and a Motorola razor cellphone track prepaid cellphone and a cellphone I can’t remember the name of the phone then i Phone 5 then I upgraded to a iPhone 6 then a iPhone x then to a iPhone 12 and out of all the cellphones I had the iPhone is the greatest is simple and easy to use and the graphics and apps are amazing as well as the photos iam love apple products they are the best because you can have them for years until you have to upgrade them 😊❤

I was one of the first people to have one on release. I remember being blown away. All was well until I dropped it, bent the stainless, and the little black plastic popped off and never fit right again. The screen survived, but had to tape the back lol. I eventually got the 3G, broke that one, and switched to Android.
Yeah iPhones are a lot more durable now but I feel you. But still breaking your phone isn’t apples fault it was just you accidentally dropping it. So idk maybe give apple a try again
