So jelly you got the demo but also glad lol. I got the game pre-ordered and the dude at my shop told me today I could get it one night early if I came in at 9pm but I can't drive due to surgery but I so wanna. I can't wait thank you for all the videos on it I can't wait to play it
cool legendary hydra spell would be something like "Hydra Queen's Wrath" or something that summons 5 hydra heads that each deal a different elemental damage type. be a cool nod to Tiamat the dragon goddess in D&D.

Dont wanna be a dick or anything, but Tiamat is actually a dragon from a mythology. If you like those things, look it up! :)
I would love to see healing and control spells- like Healing Word, Dominate Person, Spike Growth, Confusion, etc. More spells that aren’t just straight up damage
Edit- I’ve since beaten the game 3 times and now know the variety of spells available
healing would make the game too easy but yeah more variation would be sweet. Lichdom Battlemage is a game which has every spell nerds like us want in a game lol

Great explination of the Magic Spells! I liked the fireball spell with the 'Hold to Repeated' cast as it has multiple shots instead of the simple 'fire and forget' that only shoots 1 fire ball. Btw: Here is a list of Modifiers that I could find, extra projectiles and charges are my favorites.

The additional modifiers spells can have look grayed out to me, and they don't have a number value next to them. Do they just indicate that the spell rolled with a bonus to whichever stat is listed without specifying the amount?

Okay so my take on spells. They look awesome, BUT, after having just played Elden Ring I REALLY HOPE that when you get better rarity spells they become extremley flashy like the meteor spell.
I want like a meteor shower legendary that leaves a pool of lava in its AOE
Well we haven't seen any legendaries in action yet, which are the flashiest ones for the most part. We don't even know the ful potential yet until at least tomorrow
Oh, there's some pretty flashy ones. A friend had a Meteor one that exploded in to several surrounding explosions, and pretty much consumed most the area in fire. I'm just glad that one has no friendly fire. I did get a legendary that cast a lighting strike, and then will heal or ress an ally near it.
@@GenQuake Yeah I have been having a blast with spells ever since I purchased. Haven't even gotten a legendary one other than the new bleed element and they are very fun already. But thanks anyway for the update! 😁

I'm pretty impressed with the graphics and animations of the spells. Gearbox did a great job from what I see so far. Glad they reduced the visual pollution.

Pretty neat the variety and I like the idea of around ya spell for melee users =) like the idea of Hydra for Clawbringer, and Hawk for Sporewarden.

Glad you exist to help confused people through this game. I had no idea what anything meant.
For people thinking about playing spellshot you can have 2 spells equipt in place of a action skill if you have this and you cast it you cannot shoot but the other spell you can so put any charge or hold spells on the normal spell slot so you can shoot and cast.
You can also tell the spell effect by the name:
Calamity = meteor
Talons = hawk
Barrage = magic missile
Etc.
I cant wait more, need to play!
So I already see the possibilities with the exploding spell really any spell I choose exploding spell, make sure that it’s cryo get the life steal Element for Melee and get a roll so that every time you hit an enemy with Melee your spell timer goes down and that’s the build kinda still have to look at skills and what melee weapon to use in prefer sickles so I’ll probably find one of them
So did the math and just to get the correct manufacturer element and correct spell type that’s a 1/200 chance or .005 chance but you have to get the correct rolls to for others so there’s that
I first thought it was going to be complicated and stupid at first but once you when into details I'm very interested in the spells
I actually think that this modularity with spells is awesome! Yeah its basically the same as grenades but its still cool. (Wish we could’ve seen the repeating spell)

It's a mixture of a bunch of reused assets. Rack Attack, Phase Slam, the Hydra even has the code from Fl4k pets to vomit ammo.

One could say that it makes sense in universe. Tiny Tina is creating this D&D story and mixing in real life elements.

Currently one of my favorites is a dark magic fissure spell that arcs the damage from enemies hit on my graveborn, it's a ton of fun and I hope to mix it with a hydra spell
I would absolutely love sets like diablo and other games they already did it once in the commander lilith DLC in BL2.
hm, i wouldn't consider CMT a problem. it's rather a specific occasion that a grenade roll just synergizes with a specific skill of a vault hunter so well that it even overshines all the legendary grenades. and that's actually a good thing. that purples still have a chance to shine simply through synergy. what's more problematic about bl3 are those anoints that completely overshadow the actual gear with their +300% damage effects so i am really happy that got toned down for wonderlands. i actually hope there will be crazy combinations again with spells just like moze and her CMT.

Are the "hold" skills more powerful in anyway than the simple "press" ones? and if not is there any reason to want them over a simple button press
The damage varied a little bit, but it was hard to tell with the amount of variation that can influence the spell stats.
In my experience, Channel Cast spells do inherently more damage than any other casting type, but they only deal maximum damage if charged all the way.
A month later, but to me channel cast spells are easier to aim so that could also determine whether a player prefers one or the other.
So, from what I gather, it's the Frame is the brand (delivery type), the picture is the base spell (the core name). But looks like there are prefix & suffix effects to be discovered that further modify the effects even further. I have an ice spike spell with a Storming prefix and instead either shooting ice shards or causing ice spikes to come up out of the ground, it causes a circular cyclone around the target dealing cryo damage to it and anyone else in it. Using this with a Spellshot class and dual wielding a self buff spell and a fire smg (where the gun gets the element of the spell, and the spell gets the element of the gun skills in use), it just rips things apart. Even when using that ice spike spell at level 18 and I'm level 33. Hoping to find a higher level version of this but I feel like I need to watch for a similar prefix or suffix to get this effect again. other option is to just start test casting spells.

I have an icespike spell with a Storming prefix and it creates a cryo cyclone instead of a giant ice spike. So it appears prefixes do have certain alterations to spells. Think we need to pay attention to those. Kind of like Double Penetration on guns doubled the number of projecticles on a gun.

My favorite so far is a meteor spell with a convergence modifier, so it pulls everyone into the impact zone before hitting. It's kind of like having the siren ability from BL2 again

Graveborne and spellshot multi class with the hydra spell plus the buff from GB that gives increased damage to pets as well as damage per pet active?! With additional bonuses to spell cooldown and instant spell reset skill tree passive?! Sounds OP to me!

Dark magic element is life leech which can spawn on spells.

There is there's a revive spell thats legendary that I recently got from chaos chamber can't remember what it's called
missed cloudburst, ice spikes from the ground, singularity, and there's a ton a special unique spells, also there's the single fast moving missle spell, plus I'm pretty sure most can be combines, like I've had eruption in poison that I flicker my fingers 5 times while holding it and it did 5 eruptions all around, or the flamethrower spell that seems to have infinite length lol. I've also gotten meteors with singularities, or cloud burst lighting that chains or ice spikes that chain, or a ice storm spell that makes a giant ward around the user but also hails down ice spikes at enemies and acts as a singularity pulling enemies towards you.
Though still without question my favorite spell (minus the unique.. Holy-Moly is so awesome, like 500 fire balls from the skies XD) is likely either a fire or dark magic singularity. Has anyone seen the singularity that you aim with 3 or more charges? I've only seen it with 2 but hoping that's one with 3 charges.

I think the key word for the meteor spell is "calamity", but I could be wrong, good vid, shed a lot of light on spells, I am really confused on these spell, I will look at damage and then change it and I am WTF? Then go/back and forth, still learning.

I'm a sucker for summoner builds and after seeing that hydra spell plus graveborns hydra skill, I could NOT help but instantly think of spellshot being just perfect for it. You use ambi-hextrous as your action skill, allowing you to equip two hydra spells. Then you combine the convenient placement of spell cdr on graveborns 1st row and spellshots 2nd row.
You will be able to stack a bunch of cdr, having lots of hydras out with your two spells and the skill, plus you buff them up immensly with graveborns ascension skill giving you 60% max hp and spell damage ontop of the 6% per companion. and that's just the main juice. There's also gonna be inc % dark magic bits here and there, the 35% dmg redirect and (if it turns out to be good in the field) sanguine sacrament, giving very frequent big heals, since the hp pool will be big just from the skill tree alone. All that extra spell damage will also partially applied to gun damage thanks to the spellshots tree with spellweaving stacks adding even more. i'll either max out spell crit or gun reload speed depending on the values and how well you can stack either stat, as well as how and what weapons benefit from reload speed and if it's worth.
I think that doesn't sound too bad
honestly why wouldn't you just go another class with a much stronger permenant pet like grave/warden or grave/claw. And just use a short cooldown spell to proc the summon hydra in the talent tree, and proc 30% max health regen. Just seems alot stronger to me, plus if you go claw each spell would also proc fireballs + the 20% increase on all element damage aura of all your pets, so you would have 3 hydra, lich, dragon that spews fire/lightning/darkmagic. I call it the Warlock build
Is the cooperative vs. Competitive loot still going to be a thing? My wife and I play Borderlands together and lived that in BL3 as she would get Zane stuff for me, and I would give her Amara gear.
I excited for spells and using them, however I do wish they had a lot more spells in the game than the set amount with varied modifiers. They have had games with over 1 billion guns in so they have plenty of people there with ideas, they also have the entire D&D spell list to look at for inspiration so I wish they just had more because I wanted me game to be more spell heavy over guns and I want to be dual wield magic but I imagine only having the 2 spells and casting a limited variation of spells available might get a bit boring fast and repetitive. If I was going through the game though and finding many different kinds of spells then it would be so much more interesting. I just hope they introduce a lot more spells in the upcoming DLC's so you can feel having a magic focused game is enjoyable for a longer period of time.

I'll second this. I'm a little disappointed at the selection I have seen so far, despite the room for variation you mentioned and demonstrated.
Here's to hoping there are either:
-more base spells later in the game
-at least 2 or 3 legendary spells per base spell (I know that given the gun legendaries from BL3 they can do some pretty wild things)
-a DLC that expands spells
-another class eventually that expands spell only build options
I just hope spells are useful in the late game. A thing that bugged me about BL3 was that grenades never properly scaled to the mayhem modes.
They're clearly reusing code, so I imagine we're going to see similar spaghetti-math.
I'm really hoping we can have spell centred builds by endgame.

What does the red line across the book mean?. I have spells but can't use them when the red line is on them.

Honestly I don't know if I got lucky but I found a barrier spell that makes a barrier of ice, heals for 8%, increase damage by 30%. While in the barrier. And it's only level 18 I have never found another and no it's not modded I just was in the pirate area selling stuff then I spotted it in my inventory I never switched out since.
Hope there's a skill called tome weaver which let's you cast both spells together combining their effects, maybe combine the time it takes to charge. Idk I'm no developer

You forgot to mention that the hydra spells can be cast onto anything i.e. walls, ceilings, rocks, etc. Making them very effective at setting up strategic fire points.
Do the hydra or hawks get bonus or count as bonus for the grave born?
I believe they are considered spell damage and not companion damage.
hawks seem to count as spell damage but hyrdas do add to the bonus for having companions on graveborn so might also count as companion damage
less than a week after launch i got an absolutely overpowered god rolled fissure spell, one casts would clear an entire area and my build got it back quick, issue was, it wasn't endgame and dropped off to useless along the way
So I got a blue magic missile spell out of nowhere. But this drop was 1200% spell damage increased with multiple projectiles and increased speed. As a Graveborn, this helps my ability to start any fight and take out shields extremely quickly. RNG modifier seems to be more RNG. Then again, I’m still new. About to hit 40 and hoping to start farming legendary weapons
What about in the trailers when the character snaps multiple times and there’s like an aoe on the enemy

Correct
They are basically grenades with a cooldown rather than consuming ammo from what I can tell, really.
Though I believe spellshots can pull an reverse Zane in that one of their action skills is just binding a second spell to the action skill button so you can cast two things.
