Erin, for gravel hit up the north portion of backbone trail starting Encinal Cyn trailhead up to Yerba Buena ,Little Sycamore, Mulholland back to Encinal great loop enjoy your rides.
Palos verdes, Manhattan beach to Santa Monica pier/beach loop, la river to Long Beach marina,Huntington beach to laguna beach all are must do’s and away from all the city traffic/smog/congestion.
Goodmorning Erin, over here it's 10:30 AM 😁 and preparing for a ride...wow you almost need a gravelbike on those paved roads, they're in bad shape....have fun and by the way great music....see ya 👊🏻
favorite gravel ride in LA has to be taking dirt mulholland west from upper canyonback trailhead thru th santa monica mtns. can be linked with other"motorways" (i.e., gravel) that go all the way to malibu. also the marvin braude bike trail - especially from playa del rey down to redondo beach - makes for a super chill golden hour cruise.
I have cycled all around California and my favorite place to ride in Los Angeles is to not ride there, ha! Anywho, in LA my favorite spot is Griffith Park and to ride Mt. Hollywood Dr. which is blocked off from traffic but so far no one has said anything about me riding there. As fair warning the road is not in the best condition. The Santa Monica bike path is good as well but I go early in the morning before it gets crazy busy. In terms of a good bike ride and scenery, it is hard to beat the Central Coast.
You should try to do the Palos Verdes ride for some road climbing. And you have to do Mandeville and the usual PCH/ West LA stuff. Also check out Jamboree in the OC . Don't be shy about adventures beyond the Westside t Welcome to Los Angeles
LA reminds me of a much bigger version of my city in Australia. I'd like to cycle there then go up around Seattle and then upto Vancouver. Florida has lots of gravel routes might be worth getting over there Erin someday. If I was living in North America I'd get down to Costa Rica or the Caribbean on a gravel bike.
I use the Karoo 2 by Hammerhead! It’s the most advanced fully touch screen color cycling computer out there with so many features. You can even download a map of an area before you go out and if you get lost it will show you all of the cycling routes in the area. it also has partner integrations with Strava, kamoot, ride w/gps as well as others so you can create routes and download them directly to your computer from your dashboard… It’s really easy. please let me know if you have any questions! I link their website in the description box in all my videos because it’s my favorite!
