Master Beat-Box Comedian | Reggie Watts | Talks at Google

  • Hand-picked by Conan O'Brian as the opening act for his nationwide comedy tour, Reggie is a tour de force of cutting edge entertainment. He is part musician, part comedian, part tech geek, and 100% unlike anything you've ever seen or heard before.
A master at beat-box and looping, he is probably best known for his music, however his unique style blends familiar elements with novel sounds and allows Reggie to explore unknown territory. His comedy, on the other hand, is a bit harder to explain... let's just say he's a comedian's comedian... trust me, you're gonna love 'em.

Art like this, and yes it is art, is the purest form. He sometimes uses old beats or progressions as a jumping off point, but now always, and every performance is unique. He grabs whatever is in the aether around him, and plays off the vibe of the audience. He is a master improviser, and his stream of consciousness creations are as honest and creative as you can get. He's brilliant, one of the best artists on the planet in my opinion.

He is a decompiler of the human language. An outwardly bubbling fountain of ingenious madness. He fuses music genres like a drunken welder but creates masterpieces in this process that stand very lonesome these days in their singularity of quality. This human collapsed into a black hole of brilliance and what we see is only the event horizon; the echo of whats really going on in the supercomputer named head that he is wearing on his shoulders. He is the substance of creativity and the definition of Art.

While most performers are polite, and they create pleasing patterns that the associative matrix of our neural mass can engage with or not, the brave knight of art Reggie Watts runs right up to each of us and sticks his fingers in us. He spreads into our brainspace like a gene therapy tagged onto a modified e. coli made into a slurry that he spits into our ears, infecting our auditory nerves, stimulating patterns in our aural cortex that spread out and dance across our cognitive network in a way both so close to prior experience and at once novel that our usual looping processes of analysis themselves break down, simply letting him and his work flood into us, whether we want it to or not. Tres rude.

I've recently released a project titled "The Fishbowl Syndrome" that is centered around the topic of our mental health and art; how they intertwine in experience or how they are sometimes viewed here in America;to which my first debut music video "The Horse on a Trampoline" works showcase on the spectrum of my own experiences with it, that i feel fans alike of FKA twigs, Janelle Monae , EarthGang, Flying lotus, Childish Gambino or those of Bjork, Logic , Lupe Fiasco, & Reggie Watts may resonate with...id like to share this with you by giving a warm welcome to my Channel to not only, like and subscribe but to comment with genuine feedback. Does anyone else here appreciate how amazing his musicians skills...while others are laughing at his random notes and scale runs between songs, I'm recognizing that he's referencing BEAUTIFUL classical music - 22:27

I skipped forward a bit and saw the captions thinking whoever did them had their own lil comedy routine - and after 10 minutes of watching Reggie and reading captions at the same time, I saw the captions start reciting what I’d seen him say earlier. I feel like a fool.
