She’s coming really long way since the very first season, she went from trying to change her daughter and protecting her to accepting the fact that her daughter is growing up and being over minded about all of this. This is character development for the win people. I love how far her and Luz have come. Can’t wait to see what the final episode brings.
Basically she did what 98% of cartoon parents would deem a hate crime. Actually admit she failed her offspring, took accountability, and made an ACTUAL effort to make things right.
She does, she got to meet luz friends and the pne who took care of her during her time there. So she is now yhr guardian of the portal via human realm living in the shack
@@EXEcosmoman20I think Luz is gonna have that role living in the shack with Amity and Camila turns it into a modern day looking forest cabin for Luz and Amity to live in so Luz can guard the portal and have a place to live after college
I NEVER thought that about her. I saw how she acted in the first episode and knew that she was doing what she thought was right by sending Luz to that camp. Luz was having problems at school and Camila believed that summer camp would help her make friends, she wasn't trying to fundamentally change her daughter or stifle her creativity, she just wanted to help her grow as a person but wasn't sure about how to do that. She never came across as overbearing or negligent, she did actually listen to Luz and tried to lift her spirits when she expressed disappointment in going to camp. Also, Luz threw that Azura book out without any prompting from her mother, that was an overreaction on her part.
Random thought but I'd like to imagine that if the roles were reversed, like say they were on a trip to space or alien planets based on Cosmic Frontiers, it'd be Luz who would struggle to adapt while Camilla warming up to it with relative ease
You can practically hear her repeating in her head "five of my very good kids were born and grew up here. My daughter was here for weeks and didn't die. And things are *supposedly* worse than normal right now."
This is what it looks like when an emotionally mature adult is secure enough in themsleves to understand the mistakes she made and apologize for them as well as leave space for others to express their difficult emotions. She sees the value of being true to oneself and supports her daughters choices in following what she thinks is right or wrong. She never dismisses Luz fears but gives them space to be heard which helps Luz to let them go. She empowers her daughter and her daughters friends that they are enough as they are. She shows that the power of self acceptance allows for others to do the same. Camila is parenting goals.
And people say she's a terrible mother. She clearly isn't. She was pear pressured into sending Luz to camp while others think she's sending her to camp with her own daughter being normal as the endgoal in the first episode. She doesn't want Luz to be normal nor to change who she is as a person. She simply wanted what was best for her. Even after losing her husband to illness.
Honestly I'd take Camilla over other cartoon parents. For one thing, she does the one thing most cartoon parents deem a hate crime. Actually admit they failed their offspring, do it in a way that feels genuine, and do what she can to make things right.
What I love about these adults is that they are being realistic. They don't want to involve children into life and death scenarios but they know how much they understand of the situation. We didn't see Camila stay in the human realm and leave it for the kids to handle. Principal Bump and the teachers were on the front lines protecting their students. Eda felt remorse that Luz was caught up into something that should never happen to kids.
My favourite trope is adults in fiction just adopting any child they can find. Camila meets the hexsquad and is entirely devoted to protecting and caring for them in five seconds.
I swear she’s gonna open her clinic up to palismans too, and just has to figure out how exactly to care for giant bumblebees and snakeshifters made of wood
I like how nobody in the Hexsquad other than Luz has a mother figure- Gus has a single father and Willow has two dads. Hunter didn't have parents at all, only Belos, which aside from being nowhere near a healthy relationship, was also presented as his "uncle." Only Amity even had a mother, which was, ehem, Odalia. ...yeah. Then they all get Camilla for several months in the human realm. Of the many things Season 3's shortening took from us, I think those interactions are one of the ones I'm most upset about.
What I love about her is that she's REALISTIC. A mom trying her best even tho she had to go through a lot too. She wants the best for her child but learned from it. She made mistake because she's himan but still is a purely kind and loving soul, ready for anyone in need to come in. And that is awesome
Best mom. She started off being how she was and wanting to send Luz to reality check camp because she thought that that was what was best for her daughter, but realized she was wrong for thinking that even though we saw that there were times she had stood up for Luz. And let's not forget how accepting and happy she was when Luz showed her that presentation of her and Amity and coming out as bi. Great mom right there.
At the start of the show, some fans might have been thinking, "Hey isn't Luz's mom worried about her?" And then we got see Camila and we fell in love with her.
"This Mama's hungry for vengeance!" "Now that is a fight I'd watch." That's also a fight I wish we'd gotten, it'd be like Belos being rejected by the 'humanity' that he claimed he wanted to protect.
Yes, Camilla did make a mistake, but she APOLOGIZES AND FULLY UNDERSTANDS WHY AND STRIVES TO FIX THINGS. Not just throwing us a sad backstory as an apology. Camilla had gone above and beyond to make things up to her daughter and I deeply respect her for that. It’s sad thinking of Camilla being just like Luz, but never quite finding her place until she hid away her silly/dorky/wild side. :( So seeing her being a bit more open about loving Space Frontier was so sweet. I know the feeling of never wanting to talk about your own interests because of fear from being taunted or shamed for it in the past. She does love Luz’s wild will and creativity, but her own fear from being ostracized herself+peer pressure for being the same pushed Camilla to send Luz to camp. I remember people pointing out that when Vee tossed out Luz’s stuff, she brings it back inside.
I think that woukd be "Vanaheim" of the Vanir gods, as real Demon Realm/Boiling Isles name and one of Yggdrasil's Nine Realms. A place full of magic and where the first witches (even demons and other magical creatures) came. Here you can find Fólkvangr and Sessrúmnir just to name the two most famous. It’s the place of rest of a giant who fell in the hands of Lilith, turning into Vanaheim upon his death. The Ylgr river flows through Vanaheim and bathes the giant skeleton of the realm (which is Titan's corpse). Also this could be only found in Hilda with Norse Mythology.
I really enjoy the fact that Camilla clearly does not like Boiling Isles. It looks disturbing and unpleasant to her, she does not get the appeal and barely understands the lore. She encourages Luz to enjoy it nonetheless and makes sure not to judge out loud the environment her daughter loves. That's the way for parents to deal with their kids' interests. They are unlikely to enjoy same things, that's honest and reslistic. But Camilla supports weird things living in the giant corpse, because she wants to support her daughter.
Originally I knew she only said what she said to Liz when she was in the in between out of worry and fear. But deep down she wanted to be sure her child was happy. And taking her away from what did was hard. She's a nerd grown up and nothing wrong with that
Actually, looking at Camilla's talk with Luz in episode 1, her main goal was seeing Luz take the opportunity to make new friends. Ironic how Luz met Amity, Willow, and the rest on B.I. . While *Vee* went to camp, and met Masha and the others.
I wonder if the owl house given more seasons, are there would be a story about a human realms and witch hunter, i wonder in the ending, both realms would able coexist in each other.
