Tory, you are just up there with the best players I've ever heard and seen in my long life. Holdsworth, Mancuso.. you stand shoulder to shoulder with your peers. Simply breathtaking.
Another WOW from me. Your originality, astounding uniqueness and killer chops make Tory Slusher easily distinguishable from anyone else. I absolutely love everything you do.
So awesome as always! I have been waiting for someone to take two-handed tapping to the next level for a long time. I always liked both the continuous legato style (e.g. TJ Helmerich) and the chordal / contrapuntal style (Stanley Jordan, Adam Fulara), you definitely stand out for being able to do both so well.
well lucky for me. I was looking up something totally unrelated and saw you had uploaded this video. I thought "that's strange, I didn't get a notice for this vid". I clicked on it and saw I was no longer subscribed. I fixed that pretty quick. Another outstanding bit of playing Tory. Glad I found it, and I will keep an eye on the list of people I am subscribed to so that I don't miss anything else.
Yeah, I started doing that years ago after thinking about articulation and whatnot. It isn't very musical to just have everything be staccato at the end of the day, at least with the two-handed approach. Like all of this was confirmed by Pat Metheny in a different way.
Bad ass, Tory. You’re on a roll, woman. Elements reminded me of Manu Codjia, one of my other faves, besides you. You’re really shining here. Would love to hear you play around with more dissonance next!
l saw Stanely Clarke live at the Majectic Theater in Dallas backing up Eric Johnson w/ special guest Adrian Legg and remember his tapping was a almost boring. This is amazing.
I really like it. The melodic ideas are foreign to my ears, probably because I’m mostly listening to bebop. But I want to understand what you’re doing. I need to start transcribing some of it.
Ever mess with like an F major six note per string run where you start on low E string’s F, do the six notes, skip the A string, do the six notes on D string, skip the G string, do the six notes on B string then come back down or riff it out. Jennifer Batten style
The Rhodes-ish thin goes so well with your BA dist. did you write the preset to compliment? It really goes well when you do not need the creme but need it to hold the line. TY for your energy.
I really like the sound of this style. One question for you; how much of what you are improvising is truly that and what percentage is memorized patterns? I'm not being acerbic but I personally struggle with being able to play what I hear internally. If you are 100% playing what you hear internally, my hats off to you. ❤️
This, 100% improvised TBH. Really. I usually just wake up and then warm up a little and then quickly do a video when I do these.... If I try to take all day and then start to think about it and this and that etc then it turns into basically, I'm writing....
Good morning. As usual, very cool. Please forgive my curiosity, but I'm fascinated with process, so I have questions. The backing track is you playing finger drums and bass (?) and the basic chord structure and the deliberate sections are composed, but within that structure: 1)is it completely improvised (like do you have some melodic ideas going into it that you then expand upon, or is it completely stream of consciousness?) or maybe like a head tune, where you have some basic ideas for the beginning, then go off, then recap? and 2)during the sections where the bass is pedal, is the harmony that you hear/play over static from performance to performance, or do you change modes/harmonies? Damn, I know this is really nerdly, but maybe you're just nerdly enough to answer. (Meant as a compliment.) Right. Crawling back into hole now.
So this is basically how it works... I just put on a click, in this particular case I wanted to do something a bit faster so that, then I sit down and just play all the various guitar parts to that click track. Once that is done I'll go in and actually do the drums and bass. Pretty much the guitar on camera is dictating what the piece is going to be etc I basically got this idea to do this kind of stuff from Keith Jarrett, Joe Zawinul and Scott Kinsey/ Tribal Tech. This tune, I wanted long sections to be based on a pedal.... Which is kind of a Zawinul thing, and then you can you know alter the Harmony on top of it... So that was pretty much the only thing that I had planned out going into it, but not really a key or anything or any harmonic ideas just basically, play something on extended pedal tones...
@@TorySlusher ok. Still trying to wrap my head around the....um....top down(?) approach. The arrangement comes from the improv? That's so cool. Thanks for the response, if only I could grok.
Tory is one of the world's top guitarists ...... where is the MEDIA COVERAGE and INDUSTRY ACCOLADES? They're too busy covering / nominating virtuosos like Machine Gun Kelly.
Well, my way of thinking is that.... I've already been sitting down practicing for many many many hours already 😂 if I don't have something together by this time, artistically, there may be no hope...
Another gem proving that Tory is exploring interesting ideas that are hers alone; one of the most original players around!
Tory, you are just up there with the best players I've ever heard and seen in my long life. Holdsworth, Mancuso.. you stand shoulder to shoulder with your peers.
Simply breathtaking.
Hey there, Holdsworth is god level, others are semi gods:)and Tory is between them in my opinion, yes we need new words for her:)
Made me smile
Imaging you playing with Herbie ,
With all these gorgeous lines
Wow! This is genius level of playing.
Another WOW from me. Your originality, astounding uniqueness and killer chops make Tory Slusher easily distinguishable from anyone else. I absolutely love everything you do.
It's refreshing to see some originality, with so many guitarists doing "covers" that are just copies.
That change at 4:16 to 4:40 was divine!
That was awesome, really love it. 😀 Hope to hear it again sometime, on an album.
🤔. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Note selection perfection, woew, new words needed for this level.

Ok this was very very melodic. It is possibly my favourite tune you have done recently in terms of melodic ideas

Interesting piece tori. Both relaxing and exciting at the same time😊

I've heard of this happening to others on different types of channels
I like how sometimes the tapping is obvious and other times the tone, phrasing of the lines are seamless
Yeah, I started doing that years ago after thinking about articulation and whatnot. It isn't very musical to just have everything be staccato at the end of the day, at least with the two-handed approach. Like all of this was confirmed by Pat Metheny in a different way.
I enjoy hearing the chords from Left hand blend in with lead lines of the Right hand. Great performance 👏👍
super cosmic. especially harmonic segment from 4:15

Blown away!
I'm in love, again. I just discovered the 'Tory Slusher'. This is exciting. Thank you for posting. Subscribed.
This is jaw dropping
Stretching the musical universe with new ideas !
absolutely Insane right hand
Stupendo...Amazing, I could spend hours listening to you!
Oh Yess... More Music Magic from You Ms Tory... You are Just an Absolutely Astonishing Talent and One of a Kind Human Being Angel 😀😀😘😘😎💯💯💝💝
Sounds good Tory. Like your non traditional approach and really getting into the modal side like Holdsworth does (RIP Allen).
Fantastic playing , deep improvising skills , up there with the Best.
This was awesome! I can just imagine some horns going with this.
Exceptional, you seem to be improving, and your feel, lovely!
Sweet. 😎👍
Woww and again woww! Never heard something like this, even to Stanley Jordan and Mancuso among others. Great stuff lady! Keep on!
Your from another planet! 👀🔥🔥🔥🔥🛸 Level Wow....
Stanley Jordans planet.
You're terrific, amazing work
My favorite so far.
Your style is so good and it’s not even within my genre.😊
I like a lot of stuff that I don't really play as well....
Great playing - please tour in the UK soon!
If I ignore the issue of my personal taste ,you are the best guitarist I have ever heard. you always blew me away. thank you for the video.
Love you ❤
Awesome jam Tory.
Really fantastic.
Great technique 👍👍
Wonderful!
Wow that is a really fun jam.
jumped on 43 secs after post lol; slush-'ku for ya....Another stunner; seven minute serenade; Sat nite with wine....cheers! 😉

Fantastic! 😍
Spectacular 😊
FANTASTIC!
So fluid!
Way over my head but recognizing that’s it great..!
Sooooo good!
Incredible!
Good god you’re like my favorite bass player now also
Awesome, thank you!
Good one!

I didn't know that Clarke was touring with Eric.... Damn

Wish you would do a bass channel too.
Amazing🎉 Tory
If I have time …I always watch ur video 🤘🏻play more music ..have a Nice Day Tory 🎉
😀😀😀
Wow! Someone should introduce her to Mohini Day. They'd make a stellar pair.
super ...!
Nice….I heard shades of Jan Hammer, Eric Johnson, and Tory Slusher. 😊

Actually, yes,.... but also 5's and 4's
I’m glad you’re on standard tuning. Straight fourths tuning will mess up your life. So what if you can’t play octaves without the shift.
stellar....i so love that chin-nod.
What about playing a line with youe right hand, and the same line of a 3rd (or another position) with your left? I love that kind of harmonizations.
Yeah I do that occasionally, it's not actually the most efficient way to always do that though...
🙂
❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
❤ TORY ❤ FABULOSA❤
Just what I wanted for dinner - tasty chops 😊🎵
I don’t even like fusion - or modern jazz - but Tori is a genius - great great great give me a meat cleaver to chop, off my hands
Lol
😍
🤯
Matteo mancusco Will go out to see this...

@@TorySlusher Lost in translation. Mainly, TY!
❤
lots of melodic ideas

Excellent! Do you use Fourths tuning like Stanley Jordan, or Standard?
Standard

I'm joking. This is so sweet!

You're right. Tory has skills right up there with the best jazz musicians of the last fifty years. Spread the word!
...and Li'l Wayne
It looks like her time is coming very soon. Looks like a few more people have joined the channel and I'm starting to see more ads.
Excellent! a bit pity it's so hard to clone humans, otherwise you could build an incredible big band of clones!
Tasty and Juicy...
Did you make a deal with Satan ?
Which one?
Nyarlathotep
…for him to cover the fretwork
