The pulley on the front shaft of the engine will slide down. To get the pulley loose use a air chisel it will vibrate it loose, you have to screw the bolt in then put the chisel on the head of the bolt which will vibrate it loose. Heat will work also.

To remove and replace the deck, no tools are necessary. Just drop the rear of the deck off the height lift bars first, then slide it forward off the front bar. To replace it, hook the front bar FIRST, then slide it back and connect the height lift bars.

Jim Marcum, I’ve suffered multiple heart attacks and am a grandfather 5 times over. The only place any strength is needed it lifting the rear of the deck for the reconnection. I just place a piece of wood under the edge to lift it. EZPZ. But each to his own. I’ll not judge anyone for their own personal methods.

As far as the mover I was helping my father in law and that was first time for both of us doing it, but he tried finding any video on TH-cam to help and believe it or not he did not find any so we made one, yes there’s many ways of doing it, hope it helps
just installed mine and mounting the rear first is much easier then pull 2 front pins have tried many different ways great video thanks
so, like everyone else, you didn't show OR EXPLAIN how you got the belt around the bolts holding the steering plate in place.....
Link to buy the belt can’t find the right size anywhere
One more detail, Make sure you purchase a new trash can to toss the Kohler -Courage model engine into👍

Don’t worry your not the first, reason I made this video, there was no good video that shows how to do it, I think I covered best I could in the video, we did not use impact wrench, but if I had to do it again I would, but it does turn counter clockwise like normal I believe, but we had to use pliers to hold it from spinning, you might damage it doing it that way, so having an impact will be easier

God help you if you bought one of these lt1045 POS. IF I can get it back together I'm selling it.
Do not follow these instructions to install the deck. These guys made this at least twice as hard. Hook the front of the deck first and then the rear spring pins. The belt goes on last. Also, that front rod needs to adjust the angle of the deck so just messing with it and not adjusting the deck level will cause problems with the belt coming off.
NOT a good job-so many steps ignored not shown espec'ly the drive belt tensioner spring reload-thumbs down-poor didactics, sorry
