Who's your favourite table tennis server of all time? 🏓
Kenta Matsudaira 🎉
kenta reverse tomahawk!
Shane bradley
Dima's serve is my best serve
Waldner 😉
It's one thing to return the serve, but if the return isn't good enough it will be attacked and you lose the point anyway.
💯
If Par was allowed a 3rd ball, they would all be out earlier🤣🤣🤣 flying!
Legit haha
Par was looking so annoyed that he couldn’t😂
1:17, 2:38***, **02:42***, **2:53**, **03:08***, **03:23***, **04:10***, **04:44***** (Find the serve contact point using the ".") - If these services are not hidden from the receiver's point of view , I'm a baseball bat (02:38 e 04:44 are the worst)
I went frame by frame with the "," and "." buttons to go back and forth frame by frame. There is no debate about the serve at 2.38, the ball disappears behind his shoulder while topspin is imparted, the next frame we see his paddle and the ball with the "sell" of backspin, but the ball has already left the paddle. Furthermore the camera is to the left (wider angle) than the receiver, it would have been worse - ie hidden for longer - for the receiver. ITTF rule 2.6.4 "From the start of service until it is struck, the ball shall be above the level of the playing surface and behind the server's end line, and it shall not be hidden from the receiver by the server or his or her doubles partner or by anything they wear or carry." This means the ball can't be hidden at any time, not just the point of contact, although the point of contact is always very close to his body. For the other serves including 04:44 we can see the ball in every frame, though on some points it's very close to his body, I suspect the receiver would not have seen it from their angle.
Amzaing vidéo again ! Cant' wait for the chairman challenge !
Loved this video! Another great upload!!
Cheers bro 👊
@@TableTennisDaily Unfortunately I am unable to support you guys on Saturday, but hopefully next time I’ll be there!!
That spin was insane!
That kicker got me good 😂🦵
It jumped over your head 🦅
Serving and returning serves always looks so incredibly easy but if you ever played against a high class player you know that its a big challenge.
I am not even close to that level but many people in lower classes hardly ever get any of my serves back or at least not well enough to prevent me from attacking the return so that I even had opponents giving up after not beeing able to recieve aynthing for two sets.
When I played against a high level player once (still below TTD I think) I also hardly managed to return anything at all as even the "easy" downspin serve had so much more spin then anything I ever gotten served before.
Fun video as always gents!! Love all your videos 👍
🙏🙏🙏
please review fastarc g1, it's literally your most requested rubber to review, and it would def help the channel to grow. Also great video! I hope joe likes the platinum rubbers.😀
Absolute madness! 😂
I would like to join next time to make some crazy serves too 😊 😍
Scott with the Rocket forehand that was beautiful.

Come on Dan, we all know that return will be smashed into tomorrow.
3:12
I still have no clue how that was topspin
Yeah wtf
It looks like he hits from the top of rubber to the handle wich would be a cut serve but actually if you turn blade slightly on the side and do the same it will be side topspin.
Hi Dan, can u mention the rubber you are currently using ?
Chair vs. Truls hype!
It’s a massive one!
Next level madness
Nice 👍
Why did pivot have to score another receive for the win when its sudden death?
This
When is Truls vs. Chair happening.
You guys should have Craig Bryant, his serves are nasty and he's from the UK
And in contrast to Par Gerell, his serves are actually legal.
can you guys do another blade rewiew for the lin gayouan blade?
Are you agree that from Beginners to Pros, these days serves are too conservative. I'm making my part with some wild serves even being sometimes too risky 😅. I missed some because of that 😊. Opponents are happy getting a free point too
On a better level, it's more important to slightly trick the opponent, instead of getting outright a point. So you don't want to go full risk every time, instead do small variations that look the same. If you opponent misjudges, you can easily attack the third.
That's especially true, if you happen to get some errors, because of your risk. In an important match, you shouldn't have more than 2 errors over the full match.
People in the comments are saying his serves are illegal. How is it illegal? Please explain. Looks fine to me.
His hook serves are mostly hidden behind his body and arm
point of contact with the ball is hidden with his body..
maybe not always but most of the time
I think they are just gassed becouse 4-5 years ago his serves where Illegal but his toss up is so much better now!
jealousy XD
I have looked closely and I genuinely cannot see him hiding the ball. His toss is straight up too which is hard to hide the ball with a straight toss. Seems perfectly fine to me.
What is the outro music?
Only properly received should be counted. Easy-to-kill, just somehow landed on the table is not actually a proper receive. Maybe half-point :) But nice video as always.
Hi Adam! Can you do a video with xu xin?
You’re in luck! 😂
Would be more fun if he atleast was able to serve all over the table?
serve is hidden by body thus illegal
Can someone explain to me - assuming the serves are legal meaning the contact with the ball is visible to the receiver, why is it so challenging for them to return his serves?
because the normal way of playing table tennis (your instincts built up over years) is to look at how the arm and hand move which gives a great clue regards the type of spin you'll receive. However in this case you see his hand moving in one direction and assume that's the spin you receive, however his wrist is moving in a different direction and this is massively difficult to see especially as he's moving the wrist so quickly in slightly different directions, so many of his serves look the same but have different spins. I believe pro's have learnt to ignore the arm and wrist movement, they bend right down to the table height and watch the bounce of the ball. A chop serve pops up a little higher than normal and a top spin serve stays low but your brain has to compute this in a split second. Then there's float serves where there's big arm movement so you expect spin but there's actually minimal spin on the ball. Where the bat contacts the ball has a big effect on spin strength, if you try to spin the ball when you make contact near the handle doesnt matter how hard you try there won't be much spin, where as when the ball contacts the edge of a bat the bat naturally moves faster, so there will be more spin. Altho power and skill play a big part in table tennis, deception also helps you win points. Players often have a trick (deception) serve that they only use when it's tight near the end of a match.
His serves are definitely legal and everything @sheffsteel7 said answers your question.
@@sheffsteel7 very thorough answer, thanks you
@@bentonxavier5094 not all of them were legal
no not really he covers most of his serves with his body, besides that it´s still pretty hard to read
@@bentonxavier5094
looks like it's an easy ball.. but why they cannot return the ball? i wish i could try to prove it by myself..
Wait, that isn't He Zhiwen
Pretty illegal no ? you can’t see the ball
Taking notes of all the players mentioned here 🤓
Is it legal hide your serve with your body?
Except he isn't hiding it behind his body.
Yes, it is, and he hid it several times
worlds most illegal serves more like
Bad angle
True
The ball is hide with this body and open just a last Time.
And jus hand IS ont open at all...
You can hide ball with body. Chinese do it very well. Use throw ball up however it seems his hand may not quite be open enough.
Worlds best illegal serves
How
Care to elaborate?
@@bentonxavier5094contact with the ball is hidden by the body and not fully visible
So true,it's a shame

the most ilegal service in the world! i know Par Gerell because of his irregular service! for those who don't understand, he throws the ball behind his body, plus he's left-handed! and when the game is difficult, he steals even more. It really is a great serve, but irregular.
what has being left handed got to do with his "illegal" serves? And he isn't throwing the ball behind his body.
@@bentonxavier5094those guys are whining without reason. Maybe they are jealous they can't serve that well
@@keylanoslokj1806guess you never really played this sport above absolute school yard level
He hides the contact well, it’s almost impossible to read if you don’t play against him all the time.
@@keylanoslokj1806I think so too XD I'm proud to say my serves are my strongest part of my game, but they don't compare to Par's
Love how they keep bringing this guy back and just ignore the fact all his serves are illegal and instead calling him the worlds best server. Oh and ignoring the comments mentioning that as well. Truly an amazing joke. Great way to promote the sport! You could do so much more with your reach
Illegal in what way
@@Kavafyhe is hiding the contact point of the serve with his body, which is illegal. It is beyond my understanding why this guy gets promotion for his illegal bs serves
someone needs a hug.
On most of the serves he is shielding the ball with his body - not even legal serves!
Except he isn't though...
These serves are legal. You have to look at them from the receiver’s point of view (which the camera angle does really well in this video), and the ball (90% of the time - made up percentage) is NEVER covered, at least in this video. Not sure what everyone else is seeing here. It’s CLOSE to the body, but it’s not covered. That’s a sign of a good serve within the rules. I can still contact.
Some are visible, soweit are not. Even from the camera angle. The POV from the reciever is far more left. Also he did not throw the ball upwards and not from the open hand.
your percentage admits not all of them were legal. the one that kicked Dan out was illegal for example. you only see the racket when its open up but from the other angle you see it was more closed when it actually hit the ball.
90% doesn’t equal “most illegal serves.” The comments infer that all or most of these serves are illegal, and they’re not. That’s on par with most players, and I gave a generous 10% because most players in the world make a few mistakes.
02:38 (Find the serve contact point using the ".") - The ball is almost covered even for the camera, which is angled to the right. Do you really think the receiver can see the ball in that position?
others like that 01:17, 02:38, 02:42*, 02:53, 03:08*, 03:23*, 04:10*, 04:44*** ( * means the ball is insanely hidden)
Played all of these at slow speed, and while I could see every single one, I guess we’re all making judgments about what the receiver can see or can’t see. I’d love to know their opinions.
GOLDEN THUMB RULE OF RECEIVE- relax your body, arm and wrist.
check the trajectory of the incoming ball. initial flight of the ball= slower to faster with a kick is topspin.
faster to slower is generally backspin.
safest way to receive/ most surest way is chopping/ slicing everything. yes! you can slice both backspin and topspin by adjusting the bat angle and wrist action.
other aggressive receives like looping/ topspin, flicks, fade, punch, drives, etc have relatively high chances of errors.
If you push against heavy top spin, the ball will fly into the orbit.
@@alankingchiu did i say 'push'?. i said ' slice ' or chop action. examine how choppers slice ultra max heavy topspin and manage to keep it very low. its quite easy.
Would love to see you 'slice' the short kicker, just isn't happening 😉
To me...He Zhi Wen IS the best server
We will have to take him on sometime 💪
So the better the player, the harder they found it. Mmmm.
Of course. For these kind of challenge, the easier way is to put the ball OVER the net, which would be extremely easy to do for the better player. However, you can tell the better players don’t just want to put it over the net. They want to be able to read the spin correctly and to have a nice low to the net return, thus so many net balls.
Better player has better rubber, more sensitive to oncoming spin.
I have never been a fan of Par Gerell; mostly illegal serves.
you'll never know why this got so many likes😈 (pin me plz:):))
Any professional table tennis player can return serves.....
It is rare for professionals to fail to return a serve from another world-class athlete.
First one
Yeah about that best server... Unless it's the guy from world rubber market you're not up against the best server. And unlike gerell his serves are legal.
The worlds best server isnt even good at table tennis......
Everyone: Not a chance to get it back...
The Dane: I'm gonna do it with the handle 🥸
Hahaha Dane would have become a hero if he pulled that shot off... he who dares and all that 😁🏓
