Before the snow melts, how about a video introducing some of the other animals to the snow [or bringing it inside for them]? Might be a fun enrichment thing.
The only time I experienced -60F it was mind-bendingly cold. And windy. My tires froze to the ground. The ice shattering out from the undercarriage of my 4x4 sounded like breaking glass. Once it warmed up to -20 and the wind stopped, sun came out... it was like summer! We were all outside in sweaters and dark colored sweatshirts. The sun just felt incredible.
I know exactly what you mean about getting out of the harness. I had a big fluffy husky/malamute and I found that a "secured" harness is never happening with that much fluff.
Cas is one of my favorite animals at AW! I know you've talked a little about them in other videos, but it might be cool if you explained all the ways Arctic foxes are different from red foxes. Serafina can do all the modeling and camera stuff if Cas isn't comfortable with it. I just really think it's important that people understand how wonderful Arctic foxes are, and some of the problems they're facing as a species. Thanks for all you do!
I loved seeing the cameo by Seraphina in the beginning (her behavior reminded me a bit of a dog I had growing up.) Cas was beautiful as well, looks like he had some fun. Easy to see how well adapted they are to their native environments up in the tundra with their winter coats.
People see "cute" exotic pets (like fennec foxes) and rush out to buy one without doing any kind of research or even considering if they have the right setup, household, and lifestyle for it.
Melissa Smith wtf how is he being ignorant, why tf would you want to own a fennec fox without the proper lifestyle ? The animal would just be miserable at that point
This is a lovely video. It's very restful and calming to watch him play in the snow. Obviously your priority has to be what is best for the animals, but if you made a longer video of Cas in the snow, or other animals on walks, with background music similar to this one I would love to watch it. That would deviate a bit from your normal format so you might not want to but if you did I think lots of people would watch it.
Apologies if you're already aware, but in the channel videos there's a similar one to this with Chili Pepper the cavy, and another with Lollipop the skunk (maybe others? I don't remember.. I think with Serafina?) they are always a highlight for me too, I love them! :D
Yay the foxes! I have been hoping to see them for ages. Cas looks so beautiful out there in the snow, it's really lovely to see him using his natural adaptations to move around so easily. It was also really interesting to hear that he has such a wary disposition, I had only really seen him on Sci show previously and his personality didn't really get a chance to shine through. I wonder why he is so reserved when you raised both him & Seraphina from little kits yet Seraphina is super friendly?
I love your show and your animals, Jessi! I'm amazed that I can want to know these animals so badly, yet even a clip makes me certain without a doubt that I don't want to own one. For example, I can see how that inexhaustible energy of foxes would make them hard to take care of! Among the other reasons that you have brought up.
if you cant pull him in any direction do you pick him up to take him back inside or does he choose when to go back in? btw this video was so cute i loved watching him play in snow!
Andrew Freeman So, I can't just pull and continue to pull like you might see an untrained dog and walker struggling. I've taught Cas "leash etiquette" so I can use small tensions in the leash to communicate where I'd like him not to go as he shows intent to go a certain direction. I can also communicate where I'd like him to go using the same method and combining it with my own body language. It looks like I'm not doing much, but I have to constantly be checking in to make sure I don't miss a communication from him or have poor timing with my own communications. When time is up, I use a tight leash with no give, but not pulling. He knows this and usually lays down and let's me pick him up. If he was determined to continue the walk, I'd have to continue to walk with him until he agreed with my request. I used positive reinforcement enough in the initial training that it's just the way we communicate with each other now.
i think i unintentionally do this with my dog, when i want him to move to the right i move the leash to the right and without pulling he moves that way, that's really cool that it's actually a thing! It's also adorable how he just lays down. thanks so much for the response and i love your videos!
AnimalWonders Montana please please please please do an all of are animals video I know it will be a lot of work and a long video but maybe you don’t have to do all of the animals because some animals might be to shy or shouldn’t be handled but please do all the animals you can I would love to see all the different types of animals
Felicia Sturgis i think they have been working on this video for a while, some of their recent videos have been all their reptiles, all the birds, ect. so while their might not be an ALL of our animals video try watching those instead!
Foxes are hunting by smell and earing through the snow small mammals (rodents and anything that can hide or travel under the snow [mice, lemmings, musaraignes, campagnols...]). That is why they the jump/dive in the snow after acute detection. So, getting the nose close to the ground might be to smell the reality of a presence under the snow as a start in the hunt. And yes, it probably simply enjoy getting its nose in the cold too.
It's great to see the animals have fun in a natural environment. Does he ever catch mice/prey when he's out? Do you try to take it away if he does? Thanks for sharing!
Teresa White He's pretty slow with his reactions so he usually just watches if he sees a little animal moving about. Our fed fox, Seraphina, tries to catch everything that moves. If they eat something while on a walk we have to make sure they get a dewormer shortly after because wild animals almost always have parasites.
.........im sorry an artic what?.....Fox!!! Coooooolllll how did you found-!!!! Buy the way hi guys long time no click. Thats awsome!!! Love yal!! Kina busy here.
I'm a fat Canadian man and I was thinking loudly at my screen "zip up and put a toque on" all through this video, heck your coat does not look suitable for that kind of temperature. Just wearing a toque though makes a world of difference when out in the cold, it's amazing how much heat we can loose from the top of our head. I know that -20°C is far from death defying cold, when I was a kid my mum made us (well, me, I've always preferred indoor activities unlike my little brother) go out of the house when it was much colder than that, but even just 0°C is more comfortable with some temperature insulation on your head, no matter how old you are.
Cas is so beautiful ..I love foxes ...Baby ones are so cute. How old is Cas? And why was he brought to your Animal Wonders...was he previously owned by someone or was he injured?
Thank you for showing Fahrenheit AND Celsius!
Yeah would have been great do add kg too!
Haha!! I read this in James’ voice.
I love this video, it was so sweet. I don't think I'll ever get over how beautiful Cas is in his full, fluffy winter coat.
Before the snow melts, how about a video introducing some of the other animals to the snow [or bringing it inside for them]? Might be a fun enrichment thing.

What a cutie. Thanks for including celsius conversion. Seems like a small thing but makes a lot of difference.
Cas: Now you see me.
*Closes eyes* Now you don't.
trenvert123 , I have 3 black cats, and at night they are just golden eyes staring at me.
Otherwise totally invisible.

Cas is SO CUTE with his winter coat ;_; *FLOOFS*
Loved the bit where he is poking his head above the downed tree and the banjo coming in.
I'm watching this with my cat...who is also named Cas!
I loved seeing the cameo by Seraphina in the beginning (her behavior reminded me a bit of a dog I had growing up.)
Cas was beautiful as well, looks like he had some fun. Easy to see how well adapted they are to their native environments up in the tundra with their winter coats.

3 Very cute foxes. Especiaaly Jessie. Beautiful, smart and into Nature. Hard to beat a combo like that!.
What a beautiful video! The music just added such a wonderful layer to Cas' frolicking outside.
for fox fans , take a look at Save a Fox videos from here in Mn. some fun characters.
He is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
Arctic foxes in their winter coat are the fluffiest mammal on Earth. And it's not difficult to believe that when you look at this fluffy fellow!
Yaaayyy! Love you Animal Wonders!! I want to see more birds please!
He's so happy on the walk.
Well done! Beautiful animal! Thank you for all that you do! You’re just awesome!
Omg, I looove Arctic foxes ❤️❤️❤️❤️ they're so white and fluffy
I have a black Norwegian Forest cat named Cas. He has the exact same personality as this Cas. 😂😍
thanks for the nice walk!
There's a video related to this one called "CUTEST Exotic Pets You Can Legally Own!" and that really doesn't make me all that happy to see. >:(
Why not? There's nothing wrong with keeping exotic pets.
People see "cute" exotic pets (like fennec foxes) and rush out to buy one without doing any kind of research or even considering if they have the right setup, household, and lifestyle for it.
Fennec foxes make great pets. I wish you people wouldn't spread your ignorance.
Melissa Smith wtf how is he being ignorant, why tf would you want to own a fennec fox without the proper lifestyle ? The animal would just be miserable at that point
@@melissasmith6762 People will get them because they're cute and different, without thinking of how much work many of them are.
Awww the video is over. Thank you! Cool expirience!! Bey take care.
This is a lovely video. It's very restful and calming to watch him play in the snow.

Cas's personality is a BIG MOOD
Very relatable 🙃

I love your videos so much! Always love learning about all of your animals 😊❤️
Cass is a stunning beauty.

Cas looks amazing, but I would have liked more facts about artic foxes if possible.
Odious , they change colour with the seasons.
They are grayer in summer.
There are some informational videos about both foxes in the archives! th-cam.com/video/sWthS2FuFCg/w-d-xo.html and more
I could watch this all day =) he is beautiful

Oh right, it's winter over in the states, Hello from New Zealand! :D
Very relaxing, I would have actually liked to see more footage, even if you didn't want to talk during.
Do you have to keep the indoor temperature low enough for him but high enough for the red fox? How does that work?
He looks so soft!
He’s beautiful
*can I hug this ball of white fluff snow*
I love your videos! They are all amazing! Could you do one more on sugar gliders? Doesn’t matter, just keep up what your doing!!👍👍

What do you call a mix breed between a cockatiel and a parakeet
Ohh wow, being okay down to -60F/-51C ís impressive. But it makes sense when I think about, having arctic in the name.
YESYESYESYESYESYESYEYSYEYSYEYSYE THANK YOU YESYESYESYESYESYESYEYS

My cats are like Cas sometimes. Like to be _close_ but not touched.
How often does Cas get to go out for walks?
Can you do a tour all over your place ?
Cas is such a beautiful white fox.
awwww I wanna pet the fox ^_^ so cuteee ~
How did Cas come to be at Animal Wonders and will he ever be able to be released?
What is the name of the artist of the song in the video? It's really nice :)
I see two foxes. 💚💚
Cas is so beautiful ..I love foxes ...Baby ones are so cute. How old is Cas? And why was he brought to your Animal Wonders...was he previously owned by someone or was he injured?
