    1. You can sell sovereign bond only after 5 years or 8 years, which means you can realise profit only after 8 years.
    2. The losses or profit you make by shorting gold depends on the market. How can you say it’s a sure shot profit?

    There Is a flaw in the future shorting logic and why this arbitrage would not work as expected. Rolling the future contract each month with a premium will result in time value decrease near expiry of the future contract. So this difference in premium between two future contract is actually loss and not gain as mentioned.

  • @sakhaader5672

    Sundar sir thanks for the idea. But this video should have published only after your experience. It has some practical difficulty as this is not possible because there's one month contacts for gold is awailable in mcx and every next month contract will be having huge interst burden and you have to rollover the contract every month which is not practical ND practicable.

    SGB is illiquid, at least, for the first 3 years. Doesn't seem like it's been considered. If MCX Future turns out a loss, there'll be cash outgo. Plus, brokerage interest on pledged limit is not considered. In that case, won't it be a Net Profit or Loss? And one more thing, the 30% is for 10% of the funds, meaning it's only 3% for the total amount. Of course, considering we'll be using the rest of the Rs. 40 lakhs for trading or investment.

    • @visasimbu
      @visasimbu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@visasimbu not for pledged amount it can be for margin shortfall also. When margin shortage happens , bcz Margin is based on sgb ltp which is illiquid it wont move along market price. so in year or two there will be gap between margin required n margin we get. that time u have to burn cash to avoid margin gap or ready to pay interest for gap

    1. collateral is available in mcx?
    2. In mcx we have upto 3 months contract so how is possible hold long runner to maturity date and year
    3. 34 %is overall profit or yearly
    4.if market goes upward future also get extra profit or will be same return
    5. have extra margin for brokerage
    5. ANY ONE CAN EXPLAIN these doubts ???

    • @moneyawareness
      @moneyawareness 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      :-) First of all it wont work.
      #1 liquidity on SGB as well MCX sucks.
      #2 If market goes against ur short every month you have to pay loss monet from your pkt till maturity.
      #3 as he say the 260/- per lot is not reality for each month. When one is expiring n another if u want to jump then almost nil difference for roll over or very slight diff like 50-100. He was showing 2 months gap but this is applicable for 4 months gap. each 2 month roll over will not workout. so it is not by 2 it is by 4.
      Still when u r in loss u have to pay from ur pkt.
      #4 Future not only go with premium sometime it go with discount also. That is what a future is. After u sold if u get a discount u may feel it is a profit right but for roll over u have to give even more discount to stay in market.
      Finally it is junk arbitrage as u have to keep rolling n pay from pkt for each loss till maturity to enjoy the return.
      in case u run out of cash u r doomed.
      in case u burnt too much cash what u get in return is only this premium n discount(not the real growth of gold)

    still we need keep another 10K cash in brokerage account for cash collateral. Since in pledging we have 10% haircut and another 10K for peak margin penalty issue. So total we need to keep 70K for this strategy and we need to wait till maturity. If market keep going bullish then we need wait till the end. If the market goes down for 40% book the profit.

    Pl. explain how you can get 33% returns. From shorting gold futures we can get 1.62 L returns for 50L not for 5%L. The monthly arbitrage amount is 1.62L+ as you said 4% (discount price and SGB annual retuns2.5%) then 50L*.04=2L so total returns=3.62L (7.24% returns only per annum ). If we put the amount in Gsec or FD current returns in 7% =50L*7%=3.5L.min.

    Miscalculation , 1620 profit for 50,000 investment is 3% not 30% ..
    15k profit for 50,000 is 30% return...
    Sgb 4% , futures 3% ..total 7%
