I find it odd that many people are so shocked by Chelsea. They are a young team who didn't know how to play and win with consistency but towards the end of last year they went on a hot streak and worked their way up to the conference league despite sitting at mid table all season before that. You had to figure that there would be struggles with such a young team that's barely played together, and you have to figure that given the talent brought in that once that team learned how to win, they would be one of the best teams out there.
I feel like people really underestimated the effect the injuries had last season. Most injuries of any team, and it wasn't a bunch of bench warmers. On any given matchday Chelsea would have 3-5 expected starters on the injury table. People where giving Poch grief when he was playing Colwill at LB when Chilwell and Cucu were both injured. Like what was he supposed to do? That's why at the end of last season the result got much better. Key players were returning from injury
All the fear and headlines came about because people did not read anything, just seen the amount of stories and thought at face value “this canny be good” as a fan of Chelsea I read *everything* from PSR, to transfers, to board room clashes. As you mention right at the start, it did look confusing to an outsider, like a clown show coz there were so many stories and so many random players being linked. But as someone with the time and desire to know every detail, I could see just how insanely powerful Chelsea could become. The owners have essentially bought the club and carried out what any FC25/FM24 manager would do. Sign all the youngest players with the highest potential for £2mil from Heehaw FC in Gabon instead of waiting for the players to become £200million Vini Jrs, they loan develop and grow the players, they also looked at the wage structure to secure the club financially, and the amount of PSR close calls and little exploits we got away with shows the dedication and commitment to stretch the rules - just like they do in F1. The “too many players” debate also is ridiculous. City have had 24 starting 11 players for the last 5 years and it’s done them alright. For the players who don’t see a game in a Chelsea top, they were coached and developed by Chelsea, went on a loan or two, proved themselves and got a move away to a bigger team than they originally came from - all whilst Chelsea make £15mil in 2 years. The players who are good enough to stay get played or provide vital backup/competition to the first team, and if or when they do get sold, we make £50-60mill. I don't think any Chelsea fans expecting the team to win the league, me included. But what i enjoy is this club isn't in turbulence state anymore where everything is messed up, now the players are happy, they're trusting their manager and the owner doesn't make questionable decision.
Great Vid, just a note on that XG is calculated only when a shot is taken so when Jackson overplays and takes too many touches it doesnt add to XG unless he takes the shot. I think thats how that works
Brother why do people act like Chelsea has been shit for a decade or so,We had a rough 2 year period, like any other team, Liverpool had 2 bad year i remember,Man City is having bad year,Were 2021 Champions league winner,3 years, We've always been good, rough patches not decades, cough cough Arsenal
What I love most about Maresca is that he’s quick to play down any talks about a title race but he said earlier in this season, that with time, he sees this team as the dominating team in the league and i agree. No longer need the scatter gun approach/blockbuster amount of signings each transfer window, just need to add what is necessary.
Personally I think Chelsea didn't do too bad last season especially the second half and I think the reason Chelsea are performing is mostly due to players settling in and a proper system being put into place it's just as simple as that, the last 2 seasons we still had elite players but there was ego problems and no real system in place on and off the pitch mainly due to new owners and constant staff changes
Don’t forget we replaced the squad with inexperienced players at first team level let alone EPL experience. We had individuals and no team. Last season, regardless of manager, was going to be tough as the players gained experience and learned to play as a team and eventually fight for one another. Maresca is doing great, but last season was a lot of groundwork. Still a lot of work to do, but the squad feels more Chelsea now with the exception of going out the league cup early.
As a Chelsea fan, I really enjoyed this video. You summed everything up perfectly. I back Maresca when he says we're not ready to be title contenders. When we start beating the top teams in the prem as well as winning the regular games, then we'll be title contenders imo. Also, Arteta needs to make the bold decision to go bald.
Nah, I was looking closely. Most people assumed Chelsea would come right eventually. But so soon? Especially after all the chaos around the team. They still don't have a shirt sponsor
@@FootballIconic still don't have a shirt sponsor because the owners are looking for a big name long term sponsor like how Arsenal have Emirates and City have Etihad, and that's hard to do without UCL football.

sshhh we are not that good lads, we have a squad of 40 players and Felix has nowhere to change, Chelsea is a mess 😅
You're part of the problem if you can't see the significant change in the club. It's not 100% yet but definitely not a mess.
@@emmanuelogunlana877 he's being sarcastic
You are right, we are not title contenders but vibing
We just a chill guy
I don't think any Chelsea fans expecting the team to win the league, me included. But what i enjoy is this club isn't in turbulence state anymore where everything is messed up, now the players are happy, they're trusting their manager and the owner doesn't make questionable decision.
As a Chelsea fan who watches all of your videos.. I've been patiently waiting for you to make this one
Great Vid, just a note on that XG is calculated only when a shot is taken so when Jackson overplays and takes too many touches it doesnt add to XG unless he takes the shot. I think thats how that works
Not true, it’s calculated based on shots, the touches taken in the box, the quality of the pass before, the foot the ball is on ans more
The baseball modeled rebuild is actually working. Amazing.
It took the dodgers a couple years but now they’re a guaranteed top 3 team in baseball for a while
1:45 Great question but we're not title contenders. Just taking it game by game
Sancho is on loan with an obligation to buy, he's not going back
Man I know It hasnt been that long a wait for Chelsea to be back but damn it feels good to see videos about how Chelsea are back in the picture
Nah, we're not title contenders rn, we're just a chill club trying to make top 4
Sancho was always a blue. He wanted to come home.
We go nuts in the stands, even when he’s just warming up on the touchline. He’s home now💙
At long last finally a video on Chelsea. We have been waiting
Y’all need to understand that if they win the premier league and conference league this year, it will be the most Chelsea thing ever.
Glad I'm not the only one watching football on a DS Lite and a PSP
united fan talking about exorbitant prices.....the irony
1.01 that odd one standing out was very on point May be all his players and staff can turn up looking like the others, that might work
Man your Chelsea videos just hits different.
2:00 I love this tangent, im becoming a big fan of yours 😂
Can’t tell you how long I’ve waited for this video 😂💙
Thanks
Only just seen this now- thank you! Really appreciate that!
Just found this channel and I liked your analysis and overall just was entertaining :) glad to have come across you 👍🏽
It’s because you weren’t looking closely before…
Nah, I was looking closely. Most people assumed Chelsea would come right eventually. But so soon? Especially after all the chaos around the team. They still don't have a shirt sponsor
@@FootballIconicthe shirt sponsor thing has to do with not wanting to be loweballed because we aren't in the Champions league right now
@@FootballIconic still don't have a shirt sponsor because the owners are looking for a big name long term sponsor like how Arsenal have Emirates and City have Etihad, and that's hard to do without UCL football.
Most people? We were told our owners don't know what they're doing, our players shouldn't have been given the contracts they have, we signed the Justice League; the Avengers....only person I remember given us props and saying don't count this team out was Simon Jordan. Everyone counted us out. People watched our season last year and actually thought Pochettino should've remained coach.
The resurrection of our boys in blue made me so hyped than ever....
Coolest football content in YT, thank you for your work man :)
As im watching this , Chelsea just gave 4 - 3 to Tottenham with palmer bagging 2 😂😂
Your comedic timing and sense of humor make you a title contender :)
xG is misleading because if the player doesn't even get a shot off that they should, there won't be an xG generated for them to have missed
My god, the feeling I get when people start praising these boys, it’s been such a pleasure as a Chelsea fan to watch this young team gel together. After being clowned for a couple years, even starting to lose faith myself for a bit, it’s so nice to see all the pieces start to click into place KTBFFH
I wonder if the CFC will now start nose diving - like Aston Villa, after Tinashe made his video on them. ;-)
First time I've seen one of your videos and just wanted to say someone needs to get you a radio show dude your voice is smooth af
I love every video you put out
Bro has a PSP😂
The original 👌👌
Every South African has one - it is mandatory😂
@@marnoplaisier My parents were too poor to buy me one when I was a teenager. I always thought kids with a PSP were next level.
This has slowly become my favorite football channel. Keep it up mate
The way Nkunku smiled after Palmer tapped in a goal - that possibly would've gone in had Cole left it - is just pure good vibes.
I can see why you have almost 350K subscribers, well-done one of the best, just subscribed
As a Chelsea hopeful labelled deluded for the last 2 years by everyone. My Dad included, makes me so happy to watch all of these videos roll out and people realise that Chelsea are not back, but getting there. Serious set of ballers, all props to Maresca, done wonders in one of the hardest roles to take on
This was a good watch, appreciate this.
Thank you for this vid, T. We’ve been on the receiving end of criticism since Roman sold the club. But, we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. We’re not title contenders; just a team playing in the Conference League and playing for the next three points in the EPL 🤷🏽♂️
South African fan ❤
Always good to see a fellow Zim brother doing well!
It's criminal how this man isn't at 1M + subscribers as yet
We are not title contenders, just a chill club at this time. We are just vibing!
The Nicolas Jackson slander has to stop. He is a good striker.
Bro, that’s what I said
@@FootballIconic Yeah, just in general.
8:41 To win the Premier League and UCL, Chelsea needs a : World Class Striker ( no hate to Jackson)+ 1 World Class CB, who can rotate with Fofana and Colwill + 1 World Class Goalkeeper
Chelsea won a ucl with havertz and WERNER
Chelsea has a world class striker.
That Jackson comment is noob
I really waited for this video, you have no idea 😅😏
Bro...that "surely not" at the end is a jinx of the highest order....🤣
Appreciate the video. Always love your insights and being a Chelsea supporter I enjoyed your thoughts on our team. Here’s hoping we keep the momentum :)
I was waiting for this video😈💙
I swear man the number of times you've made a video on a team, only for their fortunes to completely reverse! I mean they're still super entertaining and I watch all of them, but c'mon man😭
You are one of my favorite content creator, football or not.
As a die hard delusional blue and not havin even watched the video,
This feels so good
I've been waiting for this video for months
I appreciate a man who can confidently eat a slice oif humble pie. Love from SW6
Much love for the PSP
Appreciate someone admitting they were wrong (ahem Patrick van Straten)
And more so than just admitting you might have been wrong I love the breakdown! You gained a subscriber sir
I’m from America and me and my brother have been Chelsea fans for 15 years! So happy they are back in good form❤️❤️
Love the PSP cameo! What games are in your collection?
