I still have the W-50U as reserve, and wear a W-520U still today. These watches are build like a tank, and still going strong. :-) Sadly I cannot find those anymore...
i have one of these from 1988 approx, which is in great cond.because i broke the strap and just put in a drawer and forgot about it until recently when i came across it and sourced a new casio strap put a battery in it and hey presto! it works great.
I got this watch in about 1993 and recently found it. New battery in and asked a jeweller to kickstart it and it's good as new! Weird to be wearing a "vintage" digital device l
Just bought this watch, without the band/strap though. Do You know if there is a strap from other, more common Casio watches, or, ant other watches, that would fit this W-50U model?
@@ChromeFreeDisco Damn, awesome! I have to start thinking about going to the store! In fact, the store also has a new old stock CMD-40 for 90euros. Is the W-50u or Cmd-40 worth it? Thanks for the fast answering btw!
@@ChromeFreeDisco Thanks a lot! I think the Cmd-40 is my preference too because it's has an unique feature and it's new, very rare to see. It is a self-made jewelery, very hidden in the streets of Porto (Portugal). They sell jewelry and have these rare casio watches hidden in a "back shelf". They also have the Db-31, AL-190, Chr-200.
Hola, yo tengo el calendar memo modelo w49 , ya se que hay 3 variantes sobre el mismo chasis, world time, straight flush y calendar memo., hare luego un video de mi watch para que lo vean saludos.
Thanks for your interest. I've had this watch from new in 1986 so would like to keep it. Here is one on Ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-CASIO-W-50U-WORLD-TIME-QW-643-JAPAN-WR-50-/232451091115?_trksid=p2349526.m2548.l4275
They must re release these perfect Casio watches. This is my favourite watch of all time
The A500W is technically a re-release this model.
@@traviswalker8933but not a fan on the metal bands.
I fell in love with geography and the world after my dad got me this aged 13. I wish i could get one now.
My mom bought me this watch , £15.99 from Argos , early 90's , loved this watch , wish they would sell this model again.
They do a very similar model - A500W: th-cam.com/video/4ygYNZK3NKE/w-d-xo.html

I used to have this one! Was my favourite!

this watch looks crazy nice
There is a modern version - the A500W.
I'm after the stainless steel version and a strap version of the prices can steep for thease watchs as this video was made 10 years ago

I don't know of of a specific modern one, but you should be able to find one that fits and looks ok. It won't be a perfect match though.
A CA-53 strap would fit nice.
Que lindos modelos.. deberían volver
Casio A1200 and Casio A500w
And Casio A300U
I have the W60U which seems even more rare.
So cool Casio! I saw the Casio W50u for 80euros in a store that sold new old stock Casio watches! Do you think I buy it or not?
Yes of course!

I would buy both at that price, but the CMD-40 would be my preference as I don't have one yet.
Where is this store?

Hi how do I edit the time on this watch?
I ve the same one, bu I need spare parts. Where can I get them?
You would have to buy another similar watch to take parts from on Ebay.
Great watch but not available, very sad,,
There's a newer version available which is top notch.

It seems that everyone who's owned this watch has the writing on the front bezel worn off.
What writing cuzz?
Shame it doesn't have any backlight. But the back lights at that time sucked.
Can anyone tell me what battery typ i need? Please
Mine has a Renata CR1616.
It seems like Casio A300U
That's the metal version of this.
