I cried and I cried. If you have ever been in a position where you were so angry about being unfairly treated, but had to hold it back "for the good" you know my tears. I felt that.
As a veteran I had to hold that anger several times. I did cuss out a few racists, but of course I didn't progress as much as I could have. I did retire after 21 years of service.
This was an amazing movie. I felt so much pride. I am a female veteran myself. So much pride. Tyler finally did a really good one. My daughter is now still serving . My pride is through the roof. Black women can do the damn thing. Love this movie. I also cried . Happy tears. Give these women their flowers.
I almost didn’t watch this movie because I’m not a fan of Tyler’s work but I’m so glad that I did, he and the entire cast did a great job. As an African American woman veteran I couldn’t be more prouder of the 6888 W.A.C!
Veteran here. Same sentiments. I watched the movie twice with my girl grand babies and it was one of those moments I will never forget. I’m quartermaster and trained at formerly Ft Lee my entire military career. I retired in December 2022 and heard about the redesignation to Fort Gregg-Adams but had no idea who they were. I do remember enjoying the women’s museum on post but this was before the name change. I would love to revisit it again I would think it has been upgraded with more emphasis on the 6888th battalion. I’m sure I’ll watch it again. TP got this one right; only I wish the movie was longer.
I LOVED this movie! The entire cast did a wonderful job and I was really impressed with Ebony Obsidian's depiction. Tyler did an amazing job with this one. The "over my dead body" and the marching scenes were epic!! You are right....Kerry Washington was perfect in her role!!
Loved your recap and the emotion in your voice. I cried all through the back half of this movie. Thank you for your honest recap and review. You have a new subscriber in me!

I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed with this movie. I thank God for each person and investor who brought their gifts, talents and resources to show and tell this important and significant story. I sincerely salute and thank each individual woman of the 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion for their leadership, commitment, endurance and service to this nation. God bless them.❤
Thank you for sharing. I haven’t watched a Tyler Perry movie in quite a time due to the “tired” stereotypes regarding our people. You made me want to see this movie. Good video.
Reading some of comments tells me many people relate Tyler Perry ONLY to "Medea" Films & Plays. While the Medea character made Perry a lot of $$, he also has many, many other successes without Medea. If you haven't already, you really should check out some of his other work..."Mea Culpa", "For Colored Girls", "The Family that Preys", "Precious", "Why Did I Get Married", "Star Trek"...etc....and now "SixTrippleEight.
Thank you so much for reviewing this movie Trending because I was not planning on watching it just because Tyler Perry was associated with it. I will watch it tomorrow
Thank you, Trending. I started watching the movie, and I had to stop off and on because I was crying. 😢 But, the movie was beautifully made. I will have to watch it a few times because it is that good so far. 🤗💛
It's a story about a bunch of black women who heroically sort mail, avoid paper cuts, drinking cold coffee and having to get up for work too. I honestly don't know how they survived? Those people who whine about D-day being real heroism, have no idea what heroism is when you are tasked with sorting mail as a women!
These women were given that task because the White men in the Army saw them as inferior, but these women proved the Army wrong, they were smart enough to problem solve.
Thanks for sharing this Trending. I haven’t watched yet. I’m here for Tyler Perry. Another one of his great Netflix movies is The Jazz Man Blues. It was very good. I don’t know why our people have such a problem with TP. He’s given a lot black actors opportunities they would never have and he’s created some stars. And yes Netflix movies can and do get nominated for Oscar’s
Hey Dee 💛📈📊He has done some wonderful things and like this movie, I'll give him his credit. I don't want to mar this moment so I won't list my critiques of him. I also liked The Family That Preys.
Born in Germany 🇩🇪 as African me have to tell you couldn’t stop crying somehow touched me in a place I could feel exactly how it’s been for the women at this time… and I had to watch it cos I once did the German Kerry Washington voice well done 👍🏾 very important history moment… glad at least the women in real got honored too late but still 😌✌🏾
Hello gorgeous Trending, thanks for showing what our fellow soldiers before us went through & never got noticed & respected initially. Freedom is not free many others even women have had to endure extreme situations and conditions to assist the country and people in it. Sending love, support, and respect to all women in the Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, & National Guard for their sacrifices & strength. Love it. Glad they created this movie period & glad you shared it with your great commentary. Have a blessed holiday season & stay safe period Black Women Soldier's Rock! 👏 👏
As someone who doesn't have Netflix, it's all over the internet for free... Unlike another film which filmed in the same neighbourhood around 8 years ago, Was released at just 1 film festival that I know of, around 6 years ago, Has only been shown on the cable TV channel Sky Cinema multiple times since 2018, And still isn't online for free yet, even though it's on DVD and Blu-ray. That film I'm talking about is Wasteland (2018).
I 💯 percent was not going to watch this BECAUSE OF Tyler Perry. He can’t write! But I was lowkey impressed. And the acting definitely gave Netflix and not Tubi so that’s a winner And the end… Whew! Not me snotting, crying, and sliding down the walls… I love US. (Even Tyler Perry sometimes)
Oh! And another thing I can’t stand Susan “Don’t vote unless it’s for Jill Stien” Sarandon! I wasn’t going to watch for that reason too but even her and her Party City 50% off discount teeth got me so 🤷🏾♀️ (I’m still not going to her raggedy ass Women’s March on Jan. 18th ol’ no voting heffa😒😒😒😒)
I’m definitely one of those who chucked up the deuces to Mr. Perry but it looks like he’s listening to our comments at least where the movies are concerned.

In my opinion this is the 2nd best Tyler Perry movie, close behind A Jazzman's Blues (2022)! The Six Triple Eight was very good and I recommended it to family and friends!
My family watched this as our Christmas movie. This was an Oscar worthy movie for sure. My family )along with myself) are veteran filled. My mom and dad, and I served in the Army. This movie moved. Me! The ending was amazing! Will watch this again and agin. On another note My dad retired from Fort Lee now known as Fort Gregg - Adam’s was home at a point and time in my life while my father was still in. I transitioned out of the military there. Just loved it. It should touch everyone one of us. I’m proud to be a black woman everyday!!💖💖💖
I think 6888, for colored girls, and jazzmans blues are some of the tyler films he was not on auto pilot, had some passion, and was not just a cash grab (which is prolly necessary for a black man with his own studio). I really liked it, thought the beginning was clunky but the middle to end was really good! Even tho it ended kinda abruptly. Upset they aint give kerry washington roles like this before
They did more as ETO athletes. They kicked eveyone's butts in basketball and softball to become the ETO champs of 1945. The army really didn't care about them sorting that mail, but them breaking the color barrier to become the basketball champions of Europe...well, that had to bother those who saw them as less than. It would have been better, for me, if it was a WW2 sports movie where they actually had to overcome something significant and meaninful. That mail wasn't it. They did much more. I wish it was shown. The film told instead of showed the rats, the miserable weather, and the depths of their skills, and teamwork.

Can you believe Charity Adams was 26 when she did all this?? Just incredible
I cried and I cried.
If you have ever been in a position where you were so angry about being unfairly treated, but had to hold it back "for the good" you know my tears. I felt that.

Those were very powerful and moving scenes. I watched the “over my dead body” scene twice. I loved the movie. Watched the movie twice as well!
It was an excellent movie. The best I have ever seen from Tyler Perry. This movie made me so proud. Yes! Kerry and the entire cast deserve awards.
